Tonight’s feature is the 2017 film Ghost Stories and @bandedbrewingco’s crazy delicious Barrel Aged Ghost Window. This film, currently on @Hulu, is a British horror film which features Martin Freeman, who is always amazing, that revolves around a man who has made a living debunking paranormal reports and receives 3 cases that have previously been unable to be debunked. This is a cool story with some incredible acting and an interesting twist and message. For our beer, @bandedbrewingco’s barrel aged Ghost Window is a tasty saison style beer that has been aged in gin barrels. It’s surprising smooth and crisp and 100% recommended. I won’t be sharing too many thoughts about this film as it’s a first time watch but the premise involves two brothers who revisit a UFO death cult they escaped years prior in search for closure after receiving a cryptic message. Along with these existential themes, @beeronearthbrew brings us an existential beer titled Living on Earth, a delicious double IPA appropriately with Galaxy hops as well as Citra and Rakau. Tonight’s feature is the new @shudder exclusive Host (2020) and another delicious brew from @foundationbrew called Virtual Hang. Host is like Unfriended meets Paranormal Activity and hits all the great points of both films. There’s some really creepy moments, good tension, and some enjoyable characters, especially @haley_bishop and @emmalovesss who are great. @foundationbrew nails it again with this double ipa called Virtual Hang which captures these Zoom calls pretty perfectly. Tonight’s feature is all about equality as we enjoy one my favorite docs, @horrornoirefilm, and the delicious Black is Beautiful beers, a collab beer organized by @weatheredsoulsbrewing that is being made by various breweries to “support justice and equality for people of color”. Horror Noire, featured on @shudder, is a great history lesson of the evolving presence of blacks in horror with interviews from horror celebs such as @tonytoddofficial, @trueracheltrue and more. As for the beers, I was able to enjoy @mypvdbc and @definitivebrewing’s versions of this imperial stout, both incredible in their own way and both for great causes. Tonight’s feature is all about putting ourselves to the test as we watch the 2018 film Extremity while enjoying @tiltedbarnbrewery’s wild ale, Seek the Wild. Extremity finds a girl who has gone through much trauma in her life seeking out an “extreme” haunt in order to face her fears and hopefully overcome the ptsd symptoms she has dealt with over the years. This is an interesting film, kind of heavy when discussing her trauma, and with a resolution you might not expect. And as with our lead character, @tiltedbarnbrewery is all about testing themselves, putting out batch 2 of this wild ale. Seek the Wild is complex but smooth and probably will sneak up on me later. Brainscan brings me backtrack to a time when the idea of virtual reality was the coolest thing we could imagine and Eddie Furlong was the coolest dude we could imagine. This movie is a must watch. The connection here is a stretch but bare with me...We Summon the Darkness, starring Alexandra Daddario, is about some badass ladies who are essentially tougher than all of the men in this film. While this isn’t the strongest film I’ve seen this year, it was an entertaining watch. Much like these ladies, the fruit beers at @lopsbrewing may deceive you as these as these are some serious beers! The fruit flavoring is not subtle which allows these to have a delicious fruit flavor while not being overly sweet. Watermelon, mango, pineapple, and blueberry are a few of the many delicious offerings, the pineapple ipa being one of my favorite thus far.
