Maurizio Millenotti | Costume for “The Importance of Being Earnest” | c. 2001 (set in 1895) • • • Millenotti designed this exceptional costume for Judi Dench in her portrayal of Lady Bracknell in the 2001 film adaptation of Oscar Wilde’s “The Importance of Being Earnest”. It’s dripping in Belle Époque femininity and grandeur but the power and awe of the character is not diminished in anyway. Day 14 of #HistoricalApril is #pets, so here is a 1916 walking suit for a walk with a very posh looking borzoi. The mid-1920s transitional styles can get funky at times with both full skirts and slightly raised waists, but I love the detailing on suits from 1915-1917, and this one from the August 1916 issue of the #Delineator is no exception.
