Why is Preschool Franchise the Best Business Opportunity in 2024
Are you exploring business opportunities that are not only profitable but also impactful? Look no further than the preschool franchise sector, especially with established names like Bachpan Play School leading the way. Here’s why investing in a preschool franchise is the best business move you can make in 2024.
Rising Demand for Quality Early Childhood Education
In today’s competitive world, parents are more focused than ever on providing their children with the best start in life. Early childhood education is crucial for cognitive and social development, and there’s a growing demand for high-quality preschools. As a result, the preschool industry is booming, with projections indicating steady growth in the coming years. By investing in a Preschool Franchise Business, you tap into this increasing demand and secure a stable customer base.
Proven Business Model
One of the significant advantages of a preschool franchise is the proven business model. Unlike starting a new business from scratch, a franchise provides you with a tested and successful framework. With Bachpan Play School, you benefit from their extensive experience, established curriculum, and well-defined operational procedures. This reduces the risks associated with new ventures and sets you on a path to success from day one.
Strong Brand Recognition
Brand recognition plays a critical role in the success of any business. When parents choose a preschool for their children, they often rely on well-known and trusted names. Bachpan Play School is a brand that has earned a stellar reputation for providing excellent early education. By franchising with a reputable brand, you leverage their established name, making it easier to attract and retain students.
Comprehensive Support and Training
One of the most significant benefits of joining a best preschool franchise like Bachpan Play School is the comprehensive support and training offered. Franchisors provide extensive training programs covering various aspects of running the school, from administration to curriculum implementation. Additionally, you receive ongoing support to help you navigate challenges and continuously improve your operations. This support system is invaluable, especially for those new to the education sector.
Favorable Financial Prospects
Investing in a preschool franchise can be highly lucrative. The initial investment, while significant, is often offset by the potential for high returns. The consistent demand for early childhood education means a steady flow of students and, consequently, a reliable income stream. Moreover, established franchises like Bachpan Play School offer attractive financing options and assistance, making it easier to manage the initial costs.
Positive Social Impact
Owning a preschool franchise is not just about financial gain; it’s also about making a positive impact on society. By providing quality education to young children, you play a crucial role in their development and future success. This sense of purpose and contribution to the community adds a rewarding dimension to your business venture.
Future Growth and Expansion Opportunities
The preschool sector offers ample opportunities for growth and expansion. Once you establish a successful franchise, you can explore opening additional branches or diversifying services, such as after-school programs and summer camps. This potential for expansion ensures long-term growth and sustainability for your business.
Conclusion
In 2024, a preschool franchise represents a prime business opportunity, combining profitability with a meaningful societal impact. With the rising demand for quality early childhood education, a proven business model, strong brand recognition, comprehensive support, and favorable financial prospects, investing in a franchise like Bachpan Play School is a smart and rewarding decision. Take the leap and embark on a journey that promises both professional success and personal fulfillment.

PERM TAGLIST @winterchimez @maessseongs @itsbeeble @zzoguri
Tumblr media
Being home alone has never been much of an issue for you. All throughout high school, you stayed home by yourself when your parents worked late and your brother had practice. And even now, well into adulthood, you’d never really been afraid of being alone.
If it were up to you, you’d live all by yourself. But unfortunately, rent was way too expensive to afford on your own. More fortunately, your brother had a spare room in his apartment for you. Pros included low grocery costs, low monthly rent, and free parking. Cons included living with your brother, living with one of his best friends, and having to deal with two grown men who sometimes acted like children.
It was a Friday night and both Hyunjae and Jacob were out, attending a Halloween party one of their friends was throwing. The holiday was only a few days away, so almost everyone you knew was hosting parties this weekend. Along with being content to stay alone in your home, you were even more so to never leave it. Going out and getting black out drunk or worse didn’t sound very appealing to you.
Nights like these were the rare occasion you got to be with yourself and some movies, snuggled with a blanket on your couch. Living with only men did not provide any luxuries except maybe someone to kill a spider every now and then. So you were abusing the fuck out of the opportunity, dressed in nothing but an oversized sweatshirt and some crew socks, a mug of hot cocoa in your hands as you watch the second installment of the Scream franchise. (Might as well get in the holiday spirit.)
There’s a knock at your door, causing you to raise an eyebrow. It was half past midnight and your brother mentioned that he and Jacob would be crashing over at Sangyeon’s after the party. You were also very much single, so you weren’t expecting anyone to come over either. The only other possible explanation was maybe a food delivery, but you hadn’t ordered anything.
You assume it’s someone at the wrong apartment and choose to ignore it, putting your focus back on the movie. Your mug raises to your lips, taking a long sip of the now lukewarm drink just as the movie’s plot begins to progress. Before you can fully revert into your concentration, there’s another knock.
A sigh escapes your mouth, setting down the mug and pausing the movie. Your sock-clad feet trudge over to the front door, expression flat as you undo all of the locks and swing it open. You jump at the sight in front of you, nearly dying of a heart attack on the spot.
A tall figure, dressed in all black and wearing a Ghostface mask stands on the other side, one arm resting on the threshold of your doorframe and their body weight leaning against it. When they realize they’ve almost killed you, they gasp.
“Oh my god, I forgot I was wearing this stupid thing.”
The person hurriedly removes the mask to reveal one of your brother’s other friends, Kim Younghoon. The tall male rubs the back of his neck sheepishly, apologizing for nearly making you faint. You clutch at your chest as your breathing stabilizes and your heart rate returns to normal.
“Jesus, Younghoon. Couldn’t you have said something before I opened the door?” You hold the heel of your palm to your forehead.
“I’m sorry, I wasn’t thinking,” he bows slightly, his eyes drifting off to something behind you. “Woah, wait, are you watching Scream 2 right now?”
“Uh, yeah?” At that moment you notice the silly coincidence that his costume happened to be Ghostface. “Do— um— do you wanna come in?”
“Yeah, sure.” He smiles, tucking his mask under his arm and following you into the apartment. He shuts the door behind him, making sure to hit all the locks as well.
As the two of you sit at the couch and you resume the movie, you purse your lips in confusion. You were curious as to why Younghoon was here in the first place, seeing as your brother was not. He had to have known that information himself considering he was dressed like he’d just come from a Halloween party. It only made sense that it was the same one Hyunjae and Jacob attended.
“Wait, so what are you doing here?” You ask, fiddling with the hem of your sweatshirt. Shit, you weren’t wearing any pants…
“Oh! Right,” he nods, ruffling his hair a bit. “I woke up really early this morning and it was starting to catch up with me so I decided to leave Sangyeon’s party to head home. Hyunjae asked if I could stop by to check on you since it was on the way.”
A simple call or text from your brother himself couldn’t suffice? You guess the fact that Younghoon really did live close by coupled with Hyunjae’s intoxication might’ve been a factor in asking his friend for the favor. All you can do is hum in response.
You weren’t all that upset by Younghoon’s sudden appearance either, and you were more than happy to invite him into your apartment any time. Out of all of your brother’s friends, excluding Jacob, Younghoon was probably your favorite. Aside from having a little crush on his handsome face, he was the easiest to get along with and you felt comfortable around him. Sometimes you wish he was your other roommate instead.
But then again, the thought of him being so domestic around you was enough to send you into cardiac arrest, much like his accidental jumpscare from earlier. Just imagining waking up to him making coffee and breakfast in the kitchen, wearing your Hello Kitty apron, had your pulse quickening. Oh God, bumping into him exiting the bathroom after he’s showered? Nothing but a towel wrapped loosely around his hips and droplets of water decorating his no doubtedly sculpted chest?
Did someone crank up the thermostat?
“Y/N? N/N. N/N… Y/N!”
You blink, snapping yourself back into reality. Younghoon waves his hands back and forth in front of your face, a cute pout on his lips. He really was not making this any easier for you. You clear your throat, hoping your face isn’t as red as it feels.
“Y-Yes?” Why did you have to stutter, you fucking loser? There you go, blowing your cover.
“I was just wondering if you’ve seen the movies before. But you kinda spaced out on me there. You okay?” He asks, face full of concern. It doesn’t do much to quiet the sound of your heartbeat in your ears. If anything, it makes it ten times worse.
“Oh… Um. Yeah, I have,” your voice wavers. “And I-I’m fine, I swear. Don’t even worry about me.”
Your efforts to convince him are futile and instead of de-escalating the situation, you just add further fuel to the fire. He leans in to you, permeating your personal bubble as he examines your expression. If he moved even closer, his lips could land on your own, and the idea of that has you shrinking in on yourself.
“Are you… nervous around me?”
Did he have any sense of self-awareness? Did he think he wasn’t intimidating in this proximity to you? Kim Younghoon’s new talent just dropped; driving you to the brink of insanity!
You swallow thickly, eyes a little wide like a deer caught in headlights. Your line of eyesight falters to his lips, even more kissable now that they’re so close to yours. You shake your head when you realize that you haven’t responded, praying and hoping you were keeping your composure.
“I don’t really believe you, Y/N,” he says, tone no louder than a whisper, but so voluminous in your empty apartment. “So, I’m gonna rephrase my question. Are you nervous to be alone with me?”
When you process his words, you come to the conclusion that, yes, you are nervous to be alone with him. Your brother and Jacob were usually around when he was, so you’d never been in this position before. You’ve never truly been alone with Younghoon. Perhaps that was because you knew you couldn’t keep your feelings to yourself, afraid you might fuck up and say something stupid to him.
A few seconds pass with nothing but the noise of the movie still playing in the background, your lips pressed together. His eyes bore into yours, dark and swirling with something that looks a whole lot like lust. Your silence is a sufficient answer for him, one of his hands coming up to support his weight on the armrest of the couch behind you. The other trails up your thigh, the sheer size of it big enough to nearly cover the expanse of your skin.
Younghoon’s lips part when he slides under your sweatshirt and finds that you’re not wearing anything underneath. His eyes flutter shut with a sigh, poking the inside of his cheek with his tongue.
“Tell me you don’t want this, tell me no before I lose all of my self control and I can’t hold back.” He lets his forehead fall to your shoulder, voice hushed.
The better, rational part of you wants to say no. It wants to tell him that you shouldn’t do this, because what would your brother think? Hyunjae would beat his ass if he found out about the two of you, especially on the living room sofa. Hell, he’d beat your ass for sleeping with one of his friends. But the part of you that was unhinged and has dreamt of this moment for years wants to say otherwise.
That part is what has you spreading your legs, taking Younghoon’s hand and leading it to where you need him most.
“Don’t hold back.” You breathe into his ear, your free hand coming up to the back of his neck and pulling his lips onto yours.
You whimper into his mouth as he kisses you, his thumb rubbing tight circles on your lace covered clit simultaneously. He’s by no means gentle, tongue tangling with your own roughly and desperately, as if he’s been dreaming of this just as much as you. He halts his motions, creeping further under your sweatshirt to palm your bare breasts and grind his hips into yours.
Your back arches off the couch, the feeling of his large hand on your chest goading your arousal. Younghoon presses open mouthed kisses down the column of your throat, sucking and nipping your supple skin, licking the abused area to soothe any pain. You can feel him even through the material of his black cargo pants, already hard for you. Without seeing it, you have an inkling of what you’re working with.
Younghoon’s always been tall, standing at six feet with broad shoulders. As long as you’ve known him, his height alone was enough to scare people away, despite the fact that he had the personality of a hyperactive puppy. But now, his body looming over yours and his touch all over your skin, you can’t help but feel turned on by his size alone.
“Can I finger you?” He asks suddenly, slowly pushing up your sweatshirt so he can expose your cute panties. You nod frantically, biting the hem of your top to keep it out his way as he pushes your underwear down your legs with one hand. “Wanna prep you as best as I can, baby.”
He smiles at you again, and in spite of being in such a compromising situation, he looks so stunning. You remember the reason why you’ve had a crush on him this long, because aside from his beauty, he was also doting and caring, willing to go above and beyond for those near and dear to him.
You squirm a bit beneath him when his middle finger glides through your folds with ease, you slick providing enough lubricant for him. He all but groans, inserting the digit into your entrance. Your moans are muffled by your sweatshirt in your mouth, his long finger so deep inside of you it brushes that one spongy spot you could never reach yourself.
Younghoon uses his thumb to circle your clit as his finger thrusts in and out of you, kissing along your jaw. He glances down and moans at the sight of your tits jostling around with each pump of his finger. He lowers his head to attach his mouth to one of your nipples, tongue flicking the sensitive bud.
There’s so much going on, your eyes practically rolling to the back of your head when his finger curls and his teeth scrape the swell of your breast. If his slender middle finger wasn’t enough to send you over the edge, then the sound of him being so vocal was, vibrations spreading on the surface of your skin. Younghoon adds the slightest amount of pressure to your clit when he sinks his pearly whites into your collarbone, coaxing your orgasm.
He swallows your whines, waiting until you’ve stopped spasming under him to slow his assault. He pulls his hoodie over his head, helping you remove your sweatshirt afterward. Your chest heaves, watching with heavy eyelids as Younghoon scoots himself further down the couch. He brings himself eye level with your cunt, experimentally blowing air on your core. You shiver, biting the inside of your lip and running a hand through his hair.
“Such a pretty pussy,” he makes eye contact with you, pressing a sweet kiss to your clit. “Can't believe you’ve been hiding this from me.”
Younghoon pushes your knees up to your chest, hands digging into the fat of the backs of your thighs. The position gives him better access to your glistening cunt. He licks a long line from your hole to your pelvic bone, flattening his tongue against you and repeating once more.
“Fuck, Hoon,” you mewl, holding the back of your hand to your forehead. “That feels so good.”
He hums, lips wrapping around your clit and giving it a harsh suck. That particular action rips a loud moan from your vocal cords. He doesn’t get any gentler, sliding both his middle and ring fingers into you as he continues making out with your pussy. Your head feels light and airy, your brain incapable of producing any coherent thoughts aside from how badly you need his cock inside of you. His thick fingers aren’t enough, you need more. You need him to fill you completely.
The pads of his fingers continuously brush along your velvety walls, inching you closer and closer to your tipping point. You aren’t sure you can last much longer, especially with the promise of having him fully following this. It’s almost embarrassing how quickly he wound you up and knocked you over the ledge again, like he was already so familiar with what you needed.
He swirls his tongue around your clit, alternating between curling his fingers and straightening them. It’s as if he’s doing a come-hither motion. Your whines are uncontrollable at this point, tugging at his hair with every suckle of your engorged skin. The sting on his scalp has him moaning against your cunt, the resonance shooting through your whole body.
“Shit shit, I’m cumming— I’m—“
Your hips buck up towards his mouth, his skillful tongue and fingers still working your overstimulated pussy until you’re begging him to stop. Good God, you already finished twice and he hadn’t even properly fucked you yet. You’re a panting mess beneath him when he parts with your lower lips, chin shiny with your release.
“You can give me one more, right?” Younghoon licks his lips to taste the remnants of your sweetness, wrapping them around his fingers to do the same thing. You let out a strained moan, nodding and connecting your mouths to kiss him roughly.
He laughs into the kiss, pulling back to tuck your hair behind your ear. His eyes resemble crescent moons, crinkled at the sides. His duality gives you whiplash. How could someone so sexy be so adorable at the same time? It was beyond you.
He goes to unbutton his pants, kicking them along with his underwear off his legs as he leans down to kiss you again. You gasp when you’re finally given the opportunity to see his dick, hard and flushed for you. You reach down to stroke him, reveling in the hiss he makes when your thumb glides over his sensitive tip.
You guide him to your entrance, but he pauses. “Wait, I don’t have anything on me.”
“It’s okay, Hoon,” you place a comforting hand on his cheek. “I trust you. I’m clean, I’m assuming you’re clean, and I’m on birth control. I wanna feel you— all of you.”
His head falls to your shoulder once more with a groan, his cock prodding your hole almost instantaneously. You exhale through your nose heavily, the stretch burning so good that you’re raking your nails down his back. Even the feeling of his broad shoulders and back muscles beneath your fingertips sends you into a frenzy. He’s just so huge. You’d never wanted to be ruined by someone as much as you wanted to be ruined by him.
Younghoon coos when you start to whimper, slowly pushing himself all the way in to his pelvic bone. He massages the back of your thighs, still pushed to your chest, pulling out gently before ramming his entire length back in. He does this a few more times to ensure your cunt has adjusted to his size, but the thought of you wrapped so tightly and warmly around him is enough to make him bust without going through the motions fully.
Your sweet pussy is so inviting, sucking him in like a fucking aspirator. He risks a glance down to where his hips meet yours, moaning so uncharacteristically at the sight of you enveloping his cock, coating it with your previous release. You clench when the sound hits your ears, provoking one of your own.
His thrusts are calculated, dragging them out so they’re deep rather than shallow. Despite not pounding into your brutally, like you were used to with past partners, you think you like this better. You can feel all of him this way. Every vein, every pulse, every fucking graze along your insides— as if he was meant to be there.
“You’re taking me so— fuck— so well, baby,” he breathes, voice hoarse in the crook of your neck. “Don’t know how much longer I can last.”
“G-God, you’re s-so b-big,” you cry, sinking your fingernails into his shoulder blades. “I feel so— oh my god— feel so full.”
You look so pretty underneath him, he doesn’t even care that he might go to hell for fucking you. He’d let Hyunjae murder him any day of the week if it guaranteed his spot above you, cock buried to the goddamn hilt. He places his forearm behind your knees, pressing your legs flat and practically folding you in half so he can speed up his tempo.
Younghoon throttles into you at a near animalistic pace, skin slapping on skin echoing throughout your apartment. You’re fucked stupid, noises that you can’t comprehend leaving your mouth to punctuate every single drive of his dick in your cunt and eyes fluttering shut. His tip kisses at that one spot that scratches your itch each time.
One particular gyration of his hips snaps that cord in your stomach and you’re cumming a third time, jaw going slack as your body spasms with the force of your orgasm. You produce no sound, the wave of your release cresting like a jolt of euphoria to your head, Younghoon following suit. However, his reaction is the opposite, so cacophonous and pornographic that it prolongs the twitching of your velvet-like walls, milking him dry of everything he can offer.
As both of you come down from your peaks, oxygen recirculating in your brains, Younghoon sighs and slips out of you. You wince, still so very sensitive from all three of your orgasms and how aggressively he was hitting it those last few minutes. You watch with choked groans as a combination of your cum flows out of your cunt onto the sofa.
Hyunjae was going to lose his mind.
“Shit, we gotta clean this up,” you panic, finally sobering up and moving into a sitting position. “I’d prefer to live long enough to tell you how much I like you.”
“Woah, wait,” his eyes widen animatedly. “Y-You like me?”
You gape at him, confused how after everything you just did together, he would think you didn't have feelings for him. “I just let you fuck me on the couch I share with my brother and Jacob. Do you think I’d do that if I didn’t like you?”
“I dunno. Maybe you were just really horny?” He shrugs, scratching the back of his neck shyly, like he hadn’t just rearranged your insides six ways to Sunday. You get on your knees, capturing his lips in a soft kiss that portrays all the words you could’ve ever wanted to say and more.
“Does that answer your question?” You ask, pecking them once again. “I like you so much, Younghoon. I have since, like, my freshman year of uni.”
He smiles warmly, cupping your cheek and caressing it with his thumb. “That’s funny because I’ve liked you since then, too.”
“That makes me so happy to hear,” you giggle, nuzzling into his palm. “Okay, now get up so I can deep clean this fucking couch.”

Meet "Spy".
Tumblr media
The most arrogant student in all of MANN high school and sixth form. Once he had a perfect life, over in France. Not an orphan, posh house, and perfect grades, and because of those perfect grades he was offered a chance to go over to England as an exchange student, which he obviously took. However, as soon as he got to the people he would be staying with, he soon realized that it was one of the worst opportunities that he had ever taken.
8 children, under one small roof, with only one familiar woman looking after them. He immediately clashed with the clan's youngest member a, then, 13-year-old boy called Jeremy. The pair often got into verbal spats whenever the younger boy's mother wasn't around.
However, despite them often fighting, the pair developed a sort of brotherly bond, with 'Spy' telling Jeremy long and intricate stories sometimes about things he's done in France, other times just to hit him with a 'your mom' joke. And sometimes Jeremy goes to 'Spy' for advice with the SAME SIXTH FORM GIRL.
'Spy' was only supposed to stay in England for his time in year 10, however, he made a special request to stay for an additional year, which his old school agreed with, as long as Ms. Sullivan was okay with it, and due to reasons still unknown, she was.
He's the second most mysterious student, second only to the 'Pyro', and that is primarily because we actually know that 'Spy' is human and speaks plain English, however, his identity is still unknown as he has never taken his hood off in front of someone and he always answers the register before his name is said.
Despite his posh exterior, he's partial to video games, especially a shooter game called 'Band Bastille 2.' He is an absolute sweat at it and is by far the best 'Infiltrator' player for miles. He even has a nemesis on the game who goes by the gamer tag 'ProfessionalwStandards', who primarily plays the 'Assassin' role, which he hates all player.s of but, and I quote, ", especially this so-called professional! He dares to say that he has standards!? All assassin players are just a bunch of pathetic lost souls who don't even know how to move their own characters!" - Spy, overheard at lunch, the other week.
Another one of his online activities that he loves to do is to get into arguments about the stupidest things. It could be about politics, a movie franchise he hasn't seen, or even basic trivia. Sometimes he purposely says the wrong thing, just to illicit a reaction from the person, and when the perfect time comes, he strikes and instead of putting an actual answer, he just puts the person's IP address and never looks at the conversation ever again.
Something that he just can't stand is vapes, and I quote, "Horrid, horrid things. With their dreadful flavours and stupid batteries. h, and do not even get me started on the braindead people who got the toilets permanently locked because they were using them there. I prefer to take my lung cancer the proper way with cigarettes!" -Spy again.

Jane 'Soldier' Doe: Apart from maybe Merasmus, 'Spy' is the only person to not put up with Jane's loud-mouthed attitude, saying "It wouldn't be tolerated in my old school, it won't be tolerated by me here."
Jeremy 'Scout' Sullivan: Read the first bit again, and then look me in the eyes and tell me you need this.
?? 'Pyro' ??: 'Spy' wonders what inhuman thoughts lie behind that mask, but more so he wonders how, even when he's in isolation, he can always be found by the creature.
Mikhail 'Heavy' Ivanov: They often talk about literature that they've read, meaning most of their conversations take place hidden behind bookshelves in the library making someone think the school is haunted!
Mun-dee 'Mick' 'Sniper' Mundy: Do not let these two exchange gamer tags. They're at each other's throats enough already.
F??? Pauling: 'Spy' is her go-to when getting advice for help with the gals
??? 'Ma' Sullivan: They both know and they know the other knows.
Tavish 'Demoman' Degroot and Ludwig 'Doc' Koch: Nothing too bad, they have pleasant chats

Horrorfest 2023
Charlie Walker x Plus size!reader
Word Count: 2658 words
Warnings: none really. Just a little horror talk.
At the request of @armyangxls Hope you enjoy it love!
Summary: Inviting Charlie over when the murders start so you don't have to be alone.
—————————————————————————————————
You had always loved a night in.
Whether it was a cozy night spent snuggled up with a blanket and a good book, or a new release of a gory slasher you’d been anxiously waiting to get your hands on, it felt like there was nothing better in the world than being home.
…but you had to admit that there was one thing that topped even your favorite at-home activity.
Cinema Club.
Which, while admittedly only being adjacent to what you’d be doing anyway, did offer the occasional change of scenery that you grew to greatly appreciate. ‘
The Woodsboro High School Cinema Club was the one place in the world where the film geeks and creatives at your school could come together to co-exist, which had been more than enough to draw you in.
You had always loved movies as a means of expression and any opportunity to talk about them with people who enjoyed them just as much was too good to pass up.
That wasn’t what really sealed the deal for you though.
What kept you coming back to that mismatched group of nerds was the underbelly of Cinema Club, comprised of all the horror fanatics and true crime junkies of Woodsboro, who came to get together and discuss some of their favorite aspects of the genre.
In a town so famous for its own serial killer, there was little open discussion about any aspect, which had never sat right with you.
After all, everyone on planet Earth had seen at least one of the “Stab” films, and still, most of Woodsboro’s residents actively chose to live in a delusion.
That was what made Cinema Club so compelling, and its president along with it.
Charlie Walker, or the King of the Freaks as you’d taken to calling him in the comfort of your own mind, was a huge film buff and one of the only people whose love of horror seemed to rival your own.
He was clever and had a lot of interesting theories about a lot of different things, the Stab franchise and the events that inspired it chief among them. In fact, in the years you’d been attending his club, you’d
spent several evenings heatedly debating over which slasher was the best or which classic horror trope you’d choose given the option.
In a lot of ways, he was one of the only people you felt seen by in that way, and eventually, you formed quite an attachment to the man, even if you’d never acted on it.
Maybe that was why you’d called him.
It had really come out of left field, and you had never reached out to him before in your life outside of occasionally asking him about a point of contention within the horror community or to get his opinion on something.
You couldn’t even say that you were friends, but that didn’t change the fact that when you got the news that someone wearing a Ghostface mask was running around cutting people up, your first thought had been of Charlie.
It was only natural.
You were going to be home all night long by yourself, and while that was normally your idea of a fantastic night, it seemed foolish to be alone like a sitting duck all night, hoping you wouldn’t run into a killer.
After all, Ghostface was a legend around this town and you weren’t about to underestimate what someone could be capable of once they put on that mask.
It seemed right to be afraid, at first.
Though, now that you were sitting in the dark waiting for Charlie to show up, you were starting to doubt yourself. Would he think you were a huge loser for bothering him over something so arbitrary? Was he doing something when you called?
If he were, you figured he would have turned you down instead of telling you he’d be at your house in fifteen, but that didn’t mean he didn’t think you were lame.
God, you were lame, weren’t you?
You started to sigh, debating whether or not you should just call Charlie and tell him not to bother, but you didn’t get the chance before a loud banging on your front door nearly sent you flying out of your seat.
Your first instinct was to grab a kitchen knife and take it with you, sort of like how Casey’s character had in the opening scene of the first stab, but you quickly abandoned that idea.
It hadn’t helped her, and you were sure it wouldn’t prove any more useful for you now.
“Charlie? Is that you?” you called out, letting your careful footsteps carry you toward the door, without bothering to turn on a light. If it wasn’t him, you didn’t need whoever was out there knowing exactly where you were.
Briefly, you felt a flash of heat wash over you at how embarrassing this would be if it was Charlie at the door, only to once again have that ice prick at your spine at the even worse possibility that he hadn’t left his house yet.
What would you do if this was the killer at your door? If you opened it and found that haunting face staring back at you in the pitch dark?
You weren’t sure.
“You alive in there, sweetheart? I brought popcorn”
All at once, relief flooded you as you took in the voice through the door. It was muffled, sure, but even if you weren’t entirely sure it was Charlie waiting for you, you were confident Ghostface didn’t use pet names like that on his victims.
“Yeah, I’m good” you assured, pulling open the door to find none other than Charlie Walker standing there, that brown mop of hair falling in his face as he turned to meet your face.
You weren’t entirely sure what he’d been watching out by the street, but in all honesty, you didn’t even question it. You were so glad to not be alone, especially after that scare, you weren’t even sure you’d processed it, even if he told you.
Proven further when he grinned at you like you’d missed something important.
“I said, can I come in? I don’t think it’s safe to spend all night in the open doorway” Charlie hummed, making it clear that he was teasing you, which you nearly bristled at. Perhaps, if he’d been anyone else, you would have.
That was the thing about Charlie though, even when he was poking fun at you, it never felt mean-spirited or cruel, and you appreciated that.
You had always been a little hard to get to know, and even harder to get along with, but he didn’t even bat an eye at your slightly more reserved nature or casual obsession with grisly crimes and imagery.
He never made you feel bad, or less than you were.
“Sure. Come on in,” you suggested finally, taking a brief beat to collect yourself from the very hectic last 2 minutes.
“Sorry, I feel like this is super weird. I just didn’t want to be alone tonight” you tried, hoping that sounded less pathetic out loud than it did when it reached your ears.
It would be a lie to say that you’d never thought about having Charlie over, but never had it been under these circumstances, and never had it been this awkward.
He must have thought you were a freak.
“No worries. I was just going to spend it with Robbie and trust me, you’re much better company” he assured, watching casually as you closed and latched your front door and turned back to him, visibly relieved.
He was telling you the truth.
Given the choice, he would most certainly like to spend time with a pretty girl over the same guy he’d been attached to since grade school. After all, you’d made it clear when you called that you didn’t want to be alone.
,,,and that you needed someone to look after you.
Charlie was more than happy to be that someone, and he could protect you if he had to, especially from Ghostface.
“I don’t know about that. Robbie seems like a pretty good time” you countered, trying to joke back with him without it being weird, though he didn’t bother to respond to that. Instead, he followed you into your living room and helped himself to your couch.
When you’d invited him over, you hadn’t really considered what you’d do to pass the time, but given the pretense for how you knew one another, and the Jiffy pop Charlie had brought, it didn’t seem too far off to put in a movie.
“I was thinking about watching Stab 2 before I called you,” you prompted, assuming that Charlie would either agree or disagree rather quickly after the suggestion.
You knew the President of Cinema Club to be a lot of things, but soft-spoken had never been one of them.
“Sounds good to me”
This room was one you’d set foot in at least once every day for most of your life, but it wasn’t the warm, inviting space it normally was, at least not with Charlie present. Under his watchful eye, you almost felt as if the air itself was popping with energy.
However, when you once again peeked at him and took in his composure, you realized that nervous energy was actually just buzzing under your skin.
“The kill in the opening scene of this one is one of my favorite of the franchise. I think the practical effects are so well done,” you hummed, relaxing only slightly as the welcoming score to Stab 2 filled your ears.
The title screen flashed in black and green, a few choppy chase scenes from the middle of the movie playing on repeat while the music blared, and you ate it up just like you did every time.
It was probably one of your favorite movies of all time, and without even thinking, you sat down next to Charlie, though you kept distance both between your bodies and between you and the back of the couch.
“The gore in the first movie was more experimental, but I think by this one, they were more confident and knew just how far they could take all the body horror”
Charlie hummed again, listening to you as you talked with more enthusiasm than he’d ever seen from you during club meetings.
You participated in discussions, of course, but it was always  more muted and careful. Like, you were constantly worried someone would think you took it too far or crossed some line you weren’t sure existed.
It was nice to watch you drop all the pretence for once and just enjoy something that clearly meant a lot to the both of you.
“But, did you know that guy actually burst an eardrum getting stabbed like that, even with a prop knife?” he spoke up, pointing out one of his own fun facts.
You didn’t, but you could believe it.
The force that had to go behind something like that, even when it wasn’t real, had to be super intense and you couldn’t imagine being on the receiving end of it, something you apparently said out loud, given Charlie’s face.
“I don’t know. It might not be that bad, it would take forever though” he allowed, further shocking you as you processed both what he’d said and the fact that you’d accidentally just been way weirder than you’d meant to.
You stopped, abandoning the movie fully now and turning to face where he’d been sitting, watching your reactions more than the movie itself.
“What would take forever? Getting stabbed?” you questioned, only partially aware of what you may have asked him in your adrenaline-fueled haze. You couldn’t imagine it took too long from start to finish if you were being honest.
Charlie scoffed, though it was more of a laugh than anything concrete or mocking, “No, bleeding out from a wound like that. It would take way longer than you’d think” he explained, with a casual shrug.
You believed him.
This wouldn’t be the first time he’d shared a strange or unexpected fact with you about something like that, and you certainly didn’t want to question him. Though, you did find yourself glancing toward the door and windows absently.
When you two had discussed this before, it was always in a well-lit room full of people, but this was much more intimate…and ominous.
After all, someone had just been stabbed to death yesterday in their home, and you didn’t like the idea of just how long it had taken them to bleed out.
“Sorry. That’s in bad taste, huh?” Charlie tried, finding the joy he’d gotten from watching you excited coldly replaced with your discomfort, or fear, more likely. “Don’t worry, I got you” he assured, his gaze shifting from the side of your face to your hand.
You were holding the couch cushion lightly in your fist, almost as if it would keep you safe, and that just wouldn’t do.
Not while he was right here, waiting to comfort you.
“Nobody’s gonna get you” His words were soft, near a whisper as he focused on gathering his courage and finally made his move, reaching out to take your hand in his own.
The action made you shift, and rather than falling off the edge of the couch onto the floor, you leaned back, closer to where Charlie was already situated.
“I just can’t imagine what that’s like” you allowed, steeling your own nerves and meeting his eyes, which subsequently sent a kaleidoscope of butterflies into your gut.
The topic was grim, and you both knew that, but for such a nasty conversation, you were feeling anything but disturbed. It would have been hard to be, with him looking at you like that, his thumb stroking your wrist gently.
“You are never going to find out. I can promise you that” Charlie spoke again, more earnest now than you ever could have predicted.
It wasn’t something he could promise, you knew that, but that didn’t make it any less reassuring.
“Charlie?”
He hummed, never breaking eye contact with you, not even shifting even as you blinked away, your gaze flicking momentarily to the third death scene playing out on screen.
“This seems like a pretty good time to mention that I have a little bit of a crush on you” you mentally cursed yourself for how small you sounded, but not for long before you had to confront the feeling of Charlie’s mouth against your own in a bruising kiss.
He had been waiting with bated breath to see which one of you would get the chance to confess first, and while he didn’t think it would be you, he couldn’t be happier regardless.
The kiss lasted for quite some time, with Charlie only pulling away just long enough to fully close the gap you’d been keeping between your bodies this entire time.
“I’m so glad you called me” he whispered, one of his hands coming to rest on your jaw to keep you close while the other played gently at your fingers.
You heard yourself let out a dreamy sort of sigh in reply, but you were far too caught up in what you were feeling to really process it. So, rather than dwell on it, you just nodded softly, “I’m so glad you came”
“I’ll always be here when you need me, sweetheart. Don’t worry about a thing” he cooed, saying each word with the depth and sincerity as a vow, and the intensity that only Charlie Walker could pooling in those blue eyes.
..and the thing was, you believed every word.
Even on this couch, in the dead of night, in the heart of Woodsboro, you felt completely at ease because who could really get to you when someone looked at you like that?
Nobody hiding behind a mask, that was for sure.

GRGRGRGRG FINALLY AN OPPORTUNITY TO INFODUMP ABT HIM!!! tysm @makifishcake and prepare for a long ramble abt best boy ever (to me) and why saijun is real... let's start with an introduction to a canon crossover character only The Loser (me) cares about! this is gonna get messy in writing near the end cuz its like 3 am for me rn.
Kouno Jun is one of the two protagonists of Asou-sensei's older work, Our Hero Studies and is one of Haganeno Ken's students at Holy Lance Academy (a private school that either exists the same town as Saiki or some neighboring one)
Tumblr media
The only translated OHS chapters so far show us who Jun and Haganeno are as characters. Kouno Jun's a generic tsukkomi high school student with normal teenage boy interests and crushes... he's baby and a total boyfail.
Jun likes video games (Kaisou Monogatari, an in-universe franchise), ramen, melon soda and Yayumi - the class rep. Pretty normal dude that's just being constantly bothered by his classmates and the teacher he hates...
...and then there's Haganeno Ken - THE delusional cosplayer hero wannabe teacher with huge interest in roleplaying and RPG video games, who immediately takes a liking to Jun, mainly for his name (his name means shield, while Haganeno's mean sword. you see where i'm going?)
Tumblr media
most of the ohs panels will be machine translated cuz i have no strength or motivation to continue my actual translation work ngnhnh one day maybe... 😔
He may look like a generic high school shonen manga protagonist, but it's actually really charming to me how adorable he can be despite the boring presentation lolol HIS CRUSH ON YAYUMI IS SO CUTE UGHNHNH
Tumblr media
And yeah of course he shows up in Saiki bc WHY WOULDNT HE???
Asou-sensei put him there twice. In the Christmas chapter where he's walking with a girl (MOST LIKELY YAYUMI), sees Kusuo sitting alone and being like "haha that's so sad to be lonely on christmas lmao"... EXCEPT ITS HILARIOUS CUZ HE DOES THE SAME THING IN HIS OWN MANGA'S CHRISTMAS CHAPTER.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
and in the Hero Studies crossover chapter, right at the end as an unused character. (wouldn't make sense to have two tsukkomis there tbh so i get it lolol)
Same thing happens in the anime except Jun in the Christmas episode wasn't animated like he's an actual pre-existing character, except just a background character so he looks different but has the same jacket with his initials so its definitely him.
so here's all his screentime:
his terrible sense of style was referenced by Takeru at one point as well. yes, Jun dresses terrible and he has outfits much worse than this. hes a loser and i love him
Tumblr media
okay but what's with the saijun thing? orz
basically its a silly ship me and my lovely sweetest gf (@lu-kario ) came up with and it kinda stuck around. "omg haha what if the two protagonists from different manga dated" but yeah it became an actual thing with thought out scenarios between us.
Me saying it'd be like satousai but Kusuo finds someone "normal" with actual personality would be not giving this ship enough justice. I can't tell much rn cuz I forget 90% of the stuff i make up unless i write it down BUT all i'll say is that
I like to imagine Jun and Kusuo having a calm and nice relationship, lots of quality time spent playing video games or going out to get some ramen together. Kusuo gets to have someone more usual by his side and Jun isn't likely to be bothered by Ken when Kusuo is around (:3).
Tumblr media Tumblr media
and yeah, they do get another scene together in volume zero! how lovely! the christmas episode is also one of the reasons i find the ship cool but even despite the sillies having canon scenes and illustrations together i like it simply for fun.
canon crossover ships are cool and epic
my final words: go read ohs its fully in japanese online and 5 chapters are in english so far.
seriously go read it the fandom doesn't exist its really lonely.
and if you care abt our hero studies u can motivate me in the ask box, gimme a kick on the butt so i go and translate this work again after like a year or more of hiatus

top 5 favourite until dawn characters to WRITE vs top 5 favourite until dawn characters in general (if it's different)
it is such an important distinction med, and i thank you endlessly for letting me get into it 😏
WRITING
1. flamethrower guy/the stranger/jack: this one likely shocks no one. there's just. a joy. that comes with writing an unhinged, monster-hunting hermit. he kicks doors open. he lives in a burnt out hospital full of Creatures. he's larry fessenden. he's alive in canon for roughly 5 minutes. he's the light of my life. 2. mike: probably slightly more of a surprise because i don't write him OFTEN, but i love writing mike. lovelovelove writing him. mostly because, of the ud kids, i think he's the character who talks...the most...like i do irl??? similar speech patterns, i mean - same tendency to just. say things. that do not make sense. or things that did not need to be said. 3. EMILY: again, probably a surprise because i don't write her much, but my GOD there is a freedom to writing in emily's voice asldkfjdskf she's smart. she's mean. she always has at least three insults locked and loaded in the chamber. she's also the only character in the franchise to say "understand the palm of my hand, bitch." she contains multitudes. 4. dr. hill: gotta be honest here. i went through. a lot. of schooling for psychology. okay. like. however much you think that means? it was like. twice that. and i spent a lot of time - a lot of time - listening to professionals in the field talk in circles and say absolutely batshit things while sagely nodding and giving everyone around them knowing looks, and if i didn't have alan j. hill to channel all that lingering angst into, i might've exploded by now 😫 hehehehehe. i'm only sort of joking. 5. beth: what did supermassive give her? nothing. what does that mean? she can be anything i want, and i don't have to worry over whether or not it sounds believable in canon 😎 lmfao. in much the same way i looove writing jack because we get like. 10 lines and A Vibe from him, beth's a hoot to write for because, like. we know who her siblings are. we have an IDEA of what her home life must've been like...and everything else is up for debate!!!
JUST, LIKE, TO LOOK AT
1. ashley ashley ashley: they could never make me hate you bb. did she handle some things poorly? yes. does she make some questionable decisions? sure. would i give her the world if the opportunity presented itself? of course. look, i just think. she should get to do...whatever she wants. always. as a treat. :)c 2. matt: i am so. intrigued. by matt's whole deal. every second of it. he's a huge part of the prank but he's also hugely sympathetic. he has that incredibly cute moment with ashley right as they get to the lodge but seems pretty chilly (if not downright disinterested in) chris and josh, her best friends. he helps jess through the mines. he holds his own with emily. unless you play him a v certain way, he seems the most interested in smoothing things over between everybody. HE LEAVES. THE FUCKING. HATCHET. AT THE BASE. OF THE FIRE TOWER. i would love to live in his brain for just like...ten minutes. just really figure him out. (i need to write more with him too 😭 he has bewitched me, body and soul) 3. flamethrower guy/the stranger/jack: look. look i'm not subtle. i just. love that weird old man. i just love him so much. if supermassive said 'hey here's a dlc where you go through one (1) calendar day as jack fiddler, it costs $60 and is roughly 1 hour of gameplay,' i'd fold immediately. idk why. 4. josh: there is no one - NO ONE - in this, or any other, game who's so willing to commit so fully to the bit. my man had BLUEPRINTS. my guy had DEAD PIGS. bro sourced knockout gas and fake newspapers and real blood and made voice recordings and an alter ego and rigGED HIS WHOLE FAMILY'S VACATION HOME WITH BOOBY TRAPS, THREW A PARTY ON THE ANNIVERSARY OF HIS SISTERS' SUPPOSED DEATHS, AND EVERYONE STILL FUCKING SHOWED UP. say whatever else you want about him, josh had SOMETHING figured out, man. 5. jess: again. did she make some questionable decisions? sure. do i agree with everything she did? no. but after everything she goes through, after all the tragedy and agony and terror she is put through, this girl still has the wherewithal to grab a shovel and beam a guy in the head with it, and you know what? i respect that 🙏🏻 plus she wore hiphuggers to a party on a mountain in alberta in the dead of winter, and i just want to study her under a microscope.

New Year, Same Problems
A Bellova x Coriolanus One-Shot
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
DISCLAIMER: I don’t own The Hunger Games franchise, the images above, The Ballad of Songbirds and Snakes, or any of the characters in this fic other than Bellova. I also do not condone the beliefs or actions of Coriolanus or Bellova.
Summary: A week before the beginning of the school year, the Academy hosts an orientation night for new and returning students. As the top members of the upcoming senior class, Coriolanus and Bellova are instructed to write and present a two-person speech during the lecture part of orientation. Neither of them are thrilled.
⚠️Warnings⚠️: swearing, alcohol consumption
A/n: This takes place at the beginning of their senior year of the Academy. Also, I HIGHLY recommend you catch up on my series, A Lady Made of Snow, before reading this.
“No, I will not reconsider. You two have the best grades and academic records in your class. Therefore, you must be the ones to give the speech.”
Bellova’s jaw clenched, and her lips curled into a snarl. “Fine.” She pushed past Coriolanus and exited the room, muttering profanities under her breath.
Professor Satyria Click sighed. “As brilliant as she is, she has room to grow in the emotional control department.”
Coriolanus laughed good-naturedly. “I couldn’t agree more.”
Satyria looked at the clock hung just above the door. “Well, I don’t want to keep you waiting. The luncheon has probably already started, I don’t want you to miss the opportunity to catch up with your friends.”
Coriolanus smiled. “Of course. I’ll see you at the orientation, professor.”
He gave her a parting kiss on the cheek and left the room, heading towards Heavensbee Hall, where a luncheon was being held just for the new senior class of the Academy. The seniors had been required to attend a meeting regarding the beginning-of-the-year orientation held for new and returning students. As the highest and oldest class, they assisted the teachers in explaining the ways of the school. Many of them were assigned with showing new students around the campus.
However, being the top students of their grade, Bellova and Coriolanus has been tasked with writing a speech about their experience attending the Academy. When Professor Click told them this, they both protested, insisting that they should write separate speeches instead of collaborating. But alas, their complaints went unheard.
Bellova sat at a small table, purposefully ignoring anyone who tried to converse with her. The school year hadn’t even started yet, and she was being forced to work with her most irritating classmate.
She wasn’t surprised that Satyria had paired them up. They both had solid social skills, and excelled in public speaking. In short, they were the definition of model students.
“Bellova!”
She scowled, looking down at the table to avoid making eye contact with the person who called her name. “Leave me alone.”
Coriolanus sat down across from her. “Believe me, I wish I could,” he began. “It’s not like I enjoy working with you, but I have no choice in the matter.”
Bellova sucked in a breath, trying to ignore the pang or hurt the insult caused. “We need to get started on the speech as soon as possible. I don’t want to leave it until the last minute, like that one time in History-“
“Will you drop it?” Coriolanus snapped, his lips curled into a small pout. “I’ve apologized to you thousands of times already, you’re just trying to get a rise out of me.”
She smirked. “Anyways,” she said, ignoring his frustration. “I’d invite you to work at my place, but my father has an important meeting with some Senators and would hate to have any extra visitors. So we could go to your penthouse instea-“
“No,” Coriolanus said hastily. “No, we can’t.”
Bellova’s eyes narrowed. “And why not?”
“My Grandma’am is sick, and she does not want to be disturbed.”
Bellova knew he was lying. He may have been able to fool others, but not her. He knew that she read him like a book, and usually didn’t try deceiving her. But for some reason, he felt it was necessary this time.
She shrugged, brushing it off. “Alright. Then what about the library? I think it’s open to seniors and staff, but not to the other students. It’ll be nice and quiet.”
Coriolanus nodded. “That sounds fine. What time do you want to meet?”
“Three o’clock. I have a manicure appointment at one that’ll take at least an hour, but I should be able to make it to the library by then.”
Coriolanus scoffed. “You’re such a princess.”
Bellova flipped him off while simultaneously taking a sip of her drink. He rolled his eyes and stood up, slinging his Academy bag over his shoulder. “I’ll see you later,” he said, and walked away briskly.
She watched Coriolanus leave the hall, her gaze burning into the back of his head.
Silently, she hoped he would put his bitchy behavior aside while writing the speech with her. Or she’d be tempted to stage an unfortunate accident so she could do the whole thing herself.
________________________________________________
Bellova stifled a yawn behind her perfectly-manicured hand, glancing at the ginormous clock on the wall of the library. She had been working non-stop for almost three hours, and her body was beginning to shut down. She was tired, hungry, and thirsty, effectively putting her in an agitated mood.
They had made adequate progress, at least. Only a few sections remained unwritten, and they were certain they’d complete it before the sun set.
Coriolanus nudged her elbow, causing her to recoil instinctively. “What’s wrong with you?” he asked.
Bellova scowled. “Nothing. Focus on your work.”
“Technically, it’s our work. It’s a co-written speech.”
“God, Coryo, can you just shut up for once?” she hissed, rubbing her temples aggressively. “You’re giving me a fucking headache.”
The boy frowned, setting down his pen. “Seriously, what’s going on? You always have an attitude, but this is a bit much, even for you.”
Bellova slumped forwards, crossing her arms and resting her chest and head against the table they were working at. “I don’t feel well.”
Coriolanus sighed. “You forgot to eat a proper lunch again, didn’t you?”
She huffed. “How did you know?“
“You do that far too often, especially when you have a lot of work to do.”
“I didn’t know that you noticed. Or cared.”
Coriolanus frowned, and stood up from his chair.
“Where are you going?“ she murmured, her eyes closing due to fatigue.
“To get you food and some coffee. If we’re going to finish this speech tonight, you need your energy back. I don’t want you dozing off while we’re supposed to be working. I’d have to douse you with water to wake you up.”
Bellova groaned, still resting her head against the table. “Don’t you fucking dare, Snow. I’ll bury you alive.”
“I’d expect nothing less.” Coriolanus pushed pushed in his chair and left the library, silently thanking the founders of the Academy for allowing cafeteria food to be free for students.
He barely had enough money to pay for his own food, let alone pay for someone’s who never had to worry about going hungry.
.
.
.
Coriolanus returned shortly, placing a steaming mug of coffee and a sandwich before Bellova. She was still resting on the table, and her breathing had slowed. She was asleep.
He sighed, and patted her on the shoulder gently. No response. He prodded at her arm a few times, which did nothing.
Finally, he resorted to poking her in the ribs.
“What the-“ Bellova jolted awake, instinctively swatting at whoever had touched her. Coriolanus barely managed to avoid getting scratched by her nails. “What the hell was that?”
“I brought you food. Now eat.”
She sat up slowly, muttering curses under her breath. “No need to be so bitchy about it, Coryo.” But she complied, quickly eating the sandwich and drinking half of her coffee before speaking again.
“That better?”
She nodded. “Yes, I feel much less brain-dead than before.”
Coriolanus smiled slightly. “Good. Now let’s keep going.”
________________________________________________
𝐓𝐰𝐨 𝐃𝐚𝐲𝐬 𝐋𝐚𝐭𝐞𝐫
“Fuck!” Bellova shrieked, hurling her lipstick across the room, not caring where it landed.
She had spent almost three hours getting ready for the orientation. It took her half an hour to decide on an outfit, and she eventually picked out black dress pants, a black corset that definitely pushed the Academy dress code, and a black blazer. She paired that with extremely high platform heels. Ever since Coriolanus had surpassed her in height, she wore heels when he was in her presence.
She was going to be really late if she wasted any more time.
She darted out of her room and down the stairs to meet her driver, snatching her purse off the table and practically pushing the Avox at the door aside to exit the building.
Her driver started the car as soon as she entered it. As they drove towards the Academy, Bellova tried to gather her bearings. She didn’t want to make a bad first impression on any of the new students. Even though some of them were still quite young, she knew they could be incredibly judgmental.
She also knew she and Coriolanus would be labeled as role models. They had always been star students, the top of their class, and avoided trouble. The only exception was the whispered banter that sometimes got heated during in-class discussions, and the arguments that occurred once class was no longer in session.
If they were both less stubborn, they’d make an exceptional team. Alas, neither of them were ever willing to back down and admit defeat, so the game would continue.
Unless one of them was forced to quit.
.
.
.
Bellova practically sprinted through the sea of students, searching for Professor Click. Heavensbee Hall was packed, as the entire student body was crammed into a single room.
Finally, she spotted the communications professor at the front of the room, talking to Professor Demigloss. “Professor Click!” she said over the noise, maneuvering her way through the crowd.
“Oh hello, Bellova, dear,” Satyria beamed. “We were worried you wouldn’t be coming.”
“I’m so sorry I’m late,” she said apologetically. The professor waved her hand dismissively.
“No need to worry, we’re running behind schedule anyways. You go catch up with your friends and I’ll fetch you and Mister Snow when it’s time for your speech.”
Bellova nodded, and went to go find her fellow seniors. Within seconds, she found her group of friends standing near the beverage table.
“There she is!” Persephone said happily, coming over and practically dragging her towards the group, which consisted of Festus Creed, Lysistrata Vickers, Felix Ravinstill, Diana Ring, Arachne Crane, Clemensia Dovecote, and Sejanus Plinth.
“Hi there, Bellova,” Sejanus said, giving her a warm smile. “We were wondering when you’d show up.”
She winced slightly. “I was running a bit late. I put a little too much time into my makeup, because I insisted on doing it myself instead of having my stylist do it. She always pokes me in the eye while doing eyeliner, it’s quite annoying.”
Arachne giggled, and Bellova bit the inside of her lip to keep from wincing. Arachne’s laugh sounded as atrocious as nails raking across a chalkboard.
“Well, you look beautiful,” Felix said. “I’d say you’re most beautiful girl in the senior class.”
Bellova smiled, though the comment made her slightly uneasy. She knew Felix still had feelings for her, despite them coming to an agreement to just be friends. He had confessed his love for her at the last end-of-year gala, but she politely turned him down.
“Hey!” Arachne protested, elbowing Felix. “There’s other girls standing here, you know.”
Felix grimaced, rubbing the spot on his arm where Arachne had made contact. “Yeah, I’m aware.”
The Crane heir opened her mouth to protest again, but Dean Highbottom’s amplified voice over the speakers cut her off.
“Students, please take a seat. The orientation is about to officially begin.”
As everyone around her began finding a place to sit, Bellova saw Professor Click standing near the small stage at the front of the room She rushed over, tapping her on the arm to get her attention.
“Hello again,” the professor said, smiling. “Coriolanus should be making his way over any time now. You two will give your speech after Professor Sickle talks.”
As if on cue, Coriolanus appeared at Bellova’s side. He was wearing a dark purple dress shirt and black slacks. It briefly reminded her of a luxurious purple coat he used to wear all the time as a little boy.
“How are you feeling about this?” he asked her quietly.
“Fine, I suppose. I’m good at public speaking, so I’m not worried.”
Coriolanus hummed, glancing around the room. “The lowest level of students looks younger and younger every year, I swear.”
“That’s because we’re getting older, Coryo,” Bellova replied in a condescending tone.
Instead of insulting her like she expected, he laughed. “I suppose so. But some things never really change.”
“True. We’ve always been each other’s fiercest competition, and I doubt that’ll ever stop.”
He shrugged. “We’ll see.”
________________________________________________
“Oh, well done, you two!” Professor Click squealed. “That was perfect!”
Coriolanus and Bellova looked at each other, exchanging happy grins. They had been flawless, and the students seemed much more interested in their speech than the teachers’s.
“Thank you, professor,” they said in unison.
“I should have you work together far more often,” Professor Click gushed. “You’re such a good team.”
Bellova stepped away from Coriolanus instinctively. “Yes…Yes, we are,” she said, lying through her teeth.
The professor didn’t seem to notice. “Enjoy yourselves for the rest of the night, you’ve earned it.” And with that, she departed.
Coriolanus turned to Bellova. “I’m not sure I’ll survive another year of doing projects with you.”
Bellova rolled her eyes playfully. “Fuck off, Coryo.“
He smirked. “Such vulgar language for a Capitol heiress.”
“I’ll always speak my mind, no matter what.” Bellova grabbed two drinks off the tray of a passing Avox, and handed one to Coriolanus. “You need to unwind.”
“I agree,” Coriolanus said, taking the glass. He raised it, signaling a toast. “To success?”
“To success.” They room small sips of the champagne, and smiled at each other. Perhaps it was the alcohol, but something about his presence was making her skin feel clammy and her heart beat irregularly.
A small group of students approached them, giggling loudly. They couldn’t have been much older than thirteen. Bellova raised an eyebrow, stepping backwards slightly.
“Can we help you?” she asked.
One of the girls stepped forward, her cheeks flushing red with nervousness. “Um…we just wanted to say th-that you’re both really smart and cool.”
Coriolanus chuckled. “Thanks.”
Clearly, the young Academy students were enamored by Coriolanus. Bellova didn’t blame them. If she was in their place, she’d be nervous too.
One of the boys coughed up. “I have a question.”
“Yes?”
“Are you two dating?“
Bellova saw Coriolanus’s face turn pink. She laughed, turning to face the boy who had just spoken.
“No, we’re not. In fact, I’d rather die than be his girlfriend.”
“Hey!” Coriolanus exclaimed. “That’s a bit harsh, don’t you think?”
She shrugged. “It’s true.”
It was a lie, a bold-faced one.
But unlike Coriolanus, she was skilled in the art of deception.
.
.
.
“Well, I think I’m going to head home,” Bellova said, her head resting against Persephone’s. She’d been at the Academy for hours, and was tired of the loud chatter of her fellow students.
“Alright,” Persephone said warmly, squeezing her friend’s hand. “I look forward to seeing you on the first day of classes!”
Bellova kissed her on the cheek and bid farewell to the rest of her friends. She exited through the large doors of Heavensbee Hall, and walked down the several flights of stairs it took to reach Scholars Road.
On the ride home, she couldn’t help but contemplate the awkward question that young boy asked. Honestly, the audacity of adolescents to ask their superiors such personal things! Bellova would never have asked a senior student something like that when she was their age.
Not only was it nosy of them, it forced her to imagine what it would be like to have Coriolanus as a romantic partner. She was sure it would be her own personal hell. They already fought so often, and dating would only make the animosity worse.
But there would be some positive elements. He was charming, well-mannered, socially and academically intelligent, and undeniably handsome. She was genuinely surprised he’d never had a girlfriend. He’d been asked out by many people in the past, but turned them all down. It made sense, given that he saw them as unequal to him.
The only one he had ever admitted was on his level was Bellova.
She sighed. She knew that one day, he would aspire to find someone to pursue a relationship with and marry.
But nobody in the Capitol was truly good enough for him.
Except for herself.

Tumblr media
It’s been two weeks now since Nick has been claimed. He spends his nights in the Big House, because Hades doesn’t have a cabin at the camp. Luke always visits him, and Mr. D seems to have taken a liking to the son of Hades.
One afternoon, Nick is in the middle of his first game of demigod capture the flag, and he has a plan. Well, part of one. A girl from Athena cabin, Annabeth Chase, had thought of it. When Nick had mentioned to her that he had a tendency to blend in with the shadows, she had immediately started devising a strategy before the game started.
Presently, Nick stands silently in the shadows of the trees surrounding his team’s flag. Right in cue, Luke sneaks into Nick’s line of sight. He’s sweating and he has a cut on his bicep. He looks relieved when he sees the flag, but his expression changes once Nick noiselessly slips out of the shadows and holds his sword to Luke’s neck from behind.
“Surprise, Castellan,” Nick says jokingly.
“Should’ve known,” he murmurs. “Didn’t see you out in battle, and I fought just about everyone on your team but you.”
“Well, that’s almost true.”
A cheer roars from the other side of the woods and Luke takes the opportunity to slip away, pointing his sword at Nick’s throat.
“My team already got your flag, thanks to Beckendorf,” Nick says, grinning. “What’s the point of you coming for ours now?”
“Camp is nothing but training and more training, right?” Luke counters.
Then, they were locked in one of the most intense capture the flag battles in Camp Half-Blood history. The two teens fought from one flag to the other, through almost the entirety of the woods, over the river, past Zeus’s fist, until they reach the sheltered clearing of Luke’s team’s flag. Other campers leap out of the way of them, but neither Nick nor Luke are aware of people in their surroundings.
Nick ducks under Luke’s slash, disappears into a shadow and reappears behind the blond, sweeping his legs out from under him. He plants his foot on Luke’s chest plate and points his sword at Luke’s neck.
“Give up yet?” Nick taunts playfully.
Luke stares up at him for a moment. Finally, he drops his sword and slowly holds his hands up in surrender.
A mix of whispers and congratulations erupt from the crowd. Campers on Nick’s team congratulate him for beating Luke, who’s one of the best swordsmen in the camp, while Luke’s team is mumbling to each other about Luke’s surrender. Even Nick finds the blond’s loss surprising, though he doesn’t show it. Luke never surrenders…
Nick offers his hand and helps Luke to his feet. Luke leans towards Nick’s ear. “Meet me in the dining pavilion after everyone’s gone to bed,” he mutters. He smiles when he pulls away, clapping Nick on the shoulder. Nick watches him walk away until Annabeth and the son of Poseidon, Percy Jackson, drag Nick along to the victory party.
————————
As Nick leaves the Big House, he pulls on a jacket. It’s surprisingly cold outside for a summer night. He strolls through the damp grass, making his way through the camp. He finds Luke waiting for him at the pavilion, leaning against one of the columns.
“Hey,” Nick says quietly, but loud enough for Luke to hear. Luke jumps a little, looking for the source of the voice. He relaxes when he notices Nick.
“Don’t sneak up on me like that,” Luke jokes.
“Sorry. I can’t always control the whole shadow thing.”
“It’s fine.” Luke shoots him a grin. “Guess I just have to get used to it.”
Nick nods, leaning against the column next to Luke’s. “So… what’s up?”
The son of Hermes stays silent for a moment. “Do you ever feel like… I dunno, running away?” He says finally. Nick frowns at the ground.
“I’ve been running my whole life, Luke. Before I met you, I had no idea where I’d end up next. Hell, I was planning for university, but that feels like it’s out the window after finding out all this. Now, I’ve finally found a safe place, a place that feels like home, here with you. I’m kinda getting tired of running.”
“We’re almost adults, Nick, we could leave if we wanted.”
“Why do you want to?”
Luke sighs, staring up at the stars. “The gods. They don’t care about us.”
“Luke…”
“Do you know why my cabin’s always so crowded?” He asks. Nick shrugs. “It’s not only children of Hermes in there. All of the unclaimed demigods get stuck there, too, because the gods won’t take a moment to acknowledge the existence of their own children. If the cabin wasn’t so full, we’d have you in there as well. The gods don’t help us, they don’t talk to us. Why should we obey them?”
Nick chews on his lip, thinking of how to respond. “I can see your reasoning,” he says after a minute of silence. “The gods give us life, then they leave with no contact whatsoever. I’m not always their biggest fan, at this point.” Nick turns his gaze on the blond. “Luke, I know I probably can’t change your mind on this, but sometimes, I think they left us down here for a reason, for our best chance at a normal life before we get thrown into all…” Nick gestures to the camp, “this. Maybe they left to protect us.”
“Well, you’re right about one thing,” Luke says. Nick raises an eyebrow. “You can’t change my mind.” Luke smirks when Nick chuckles softly. Luke looks back towards the sky.
“Your eyes are really pretty in the moonlight,” Nick says without thinking. His eyes widen and Luke blushes red, visible even in the darkness. “Sorry. Um. That was weird, wasn’t it? I’m sorry, I shouldn’t ha-”
Before Nick can finish his sentence, Luke pushes off his pillar, cradles Nick’s face in his hands and gently presses his lips to those of the son of Hades. It takes Nick almost too long to realize what’s happening. Just before Luke pulls away, Nick wraps his arms around Luke’s neck, keeping Luke where he is. He feels the blond smile into the kiss.
Finally, they both pull away to breathe.
“I’ve been wanting to do that since the bookstore,” Luke confesses shyly.
“Glad I’m not the only one,” Nick murmurs.
Luke slips his hand into Nick’s. “Are you alright?” He asks. “I mean, in general? You… I dunno, you don’t seem like yourself, other than during capture the flag.”
Nick clears his throat. “‘Course I’m fine.”
Luke tilts Nick’s head up to look at him. “Are you sure? You can tell me anything, you know.” Nick sighs, rubbing the back of his neck.
“I dunno,” he says honestly. “I mean, I feel a lot safer here at camp, and a lot more comfortable than I did our there with the normal mortals, but…”
“But?” Luke prompts.
“Campers talk,” Nick states quietly.
“Wanna walk and talk?”
Nick nods and allows Luke to lead him over the grounds as he talks.
“They watch me like I’m some kinda ticking time bomb,” Nick explains. “Like I’ll snap and kill everyone or something. They whisper about me when I pass as though I won’t notice, they leave me out of things on purpose, and they avoid me like the plague if they can help it. There’s like, a handful of people here who treat me like a normal person. Well, as normal as one can be with this life. You, Percy, Annabeth, Will, and Beckendorf.”
“Nick…”
“I’m not an idiot,” Nick says bitterly. “I’ve developed a Hades-kid rep by now, I know that no one thinks I’m good news because of who my dad is, but I was judged enough out in the fucking normal world. I thought it would be different here, you know?”
“Hey, look at me,” Luke says. “You belong here, Nick. Here with me, and all the other campers, regardless of parentage. If anyone tells you otherwise, I will personally kick their fucking kólos on your behalf.”
“That’s incredibly reassuring, Mr. Master Swordsman,” Nick says sarcastically.
“I’m serious,” Luke says. “If they mess with you, they can answer to me.”
Nick blushes red. “That means a lot, coming from you.” Luke grins, slipping his hand into Nick’s. “Thank you.”
“For what?”
Nick shrugs. “Just… everything. I mean, I’ve found myself here. With you. All thanks to a bookstore in Brooklyn Heights.”
Luke laughs, and the sound of it stirs up butterflies in Nick’s stomach.
“Well, I’m eternally grateful that I met you, Nick Oliver,” Luke says in a soft voice. The butterflies in Nick’s stomach are doing acrobatics. Luke squeezes Nick’s hand as he leans down to press a kiss to Nick’s cheek.
Nick stops the blond in his tracks, wrapping his arms around Luke’s neck again for another kiss. Luke’s arms automatically snake around Nick’s waist, pulling the son of Hades flush against him. Their lips move against each other in perfect harmony. Nick’s fingers thread into Luke’s hair, tugging lightly. Luke groans into the kiss and Nick pulls away, catching his breath with a grin.
“You like that?”
“From you, I’ll take anything,” Luke mutters almost hungrily, dipping his head to press kisses to Nick’s neck.
“Luke,” Nick gasps. Luke hums against Nick’s skin, pressing his soft lips to Nick’s jawline. “Fuck…”
Nick’s vision is obscured in black momentarily. Suddenly, the two boys are in the corner of Nick’s temporary bedroom in the Big House.
“Holy shit, what just happened,” Luke says in one amazed breath.
“I… I think I can travel through shadows?” Nick says, though it comes out as more of a question than a statement. “Like teleportation? Shadow travel. Huh.” Nick stares at the wall for a second before remembering what was happening before the shadow travelling.
“So, where were we?”
Luke blinks twice before properly returning to Nick. “I believe I was right about here.” Luke continues where he left off, kissing along Nick’s jaw. Nick hums, tugging at Luke’s hair the way he had done before.
The boys slowly make their way to Nick’s bed, where they lay down and make out for a surprising few hours, not that either of them were paying attention. They were a little preoccupied with each other to notice the passage of time.
Sometime later, the two fall asleep in each other’s arms. Luke’s arm is wrapped tightly around Nick’s waist while they sleep. Little do they know that Chiron had seen them like that in the ungodly hours of the night (no pun intended). He said nothing and didn’t interrupt, since they looked so peaceful and happy with each other. Chiron hadn’t seen Luke so at ease in a long time, so he figured it best not to disturb.
————————
Needless to say, it was quite awkward when Chiron woke them the next morning.
Nick wakes first, tensing in Luke’s arms at the sight of the activities director standing in full centaur form over Nick’s bed.
“M-Morning,” Nick says.
“Good morning, Mr. Oliver.”
“Luke,” Nick whispers. The blond shifts, but doesn’t wake. “Oh my gods. Luke!” Nick gives him a little shove.
Luke groans tiredly. “Don’t wanna get up. Too warm.”
“Luke,” Nick hisses, shoving him again.
“Nicky…”
Luke’s eyes slowly blink open. He finally realizes that Chiron is right there. The blond jumps so high in surprise that he falls off the bed with a yelp.
“Good morning, Luke.”
“Morning, Chiron,” Luke groans from the floor, holding his head. “We can explain.”
“I asked him to stay,” Nick says quickly. “I’ve been having really bad nightmares and having him around makes it better. I’m sorry, I never mentioned it.”
“No need to apologize, child,” Chiron says. “Whatever helps you sleep at night. Though, Luke, I suspect you may wish to return to your cabin before your siblings interrogate you on your whereabouts.”
“Oh, that would be a nightmare.”
Luke drags himself off the floor, rubbing the back of his head. “Training later?” He asks Nick. The son of Hades nods. “Great. See you then, Nick. Chiron.” Luke nods to the centaur before hastily exiting the bedroom.
Chiron regards Nick with a twinkle in his eye. Nick’s face heats up.
“Nothing happened.”
“I didn’t say a word,” Chiron says with a shrug. “Though, if something did… well, that’s the most content I’ve seen Luke Castellan in years.” He sighs. “I’ll see you for archery in a few hours.” He then leaves with no further comment.
Nick lays down again, staring at the ceiling. A smile creeps over his face, and he can’t stop the happy little giggle that escapes him.
