This is Expressions of Light 13 from 2011.

In truth, this was a trial run for what ended up being the next angelic critter in the series, but it wasn't working out as well as I'd wanted. I was going for something more abstract and anatomically wonky. So yes, it looks like his wings are on backwards, and there's ruffles layered into the feathers, and beads, and spiny-grassy things, and it's an asymmetrical nightmare. I enjoyed it immensely, even if the end result reads definitely a little bit off.

I made this with ink, watercolor, Prismacolor pencil, and the trusty gold paint pen.

We're going to go full-on fluffy with this project: This is Expressions of Light 12.

I originally made this design for a friend who died before I could complete it. I didn't want the fun design to go to waste, so I completed it several years later. It's a serious departure from my usual fare - pastels, fluff and frills, sweetness and light, ACK! Ironically, the departure from my preferred subjects and color ranges are part of what made this angel design fun to complete. I figured, why stop at pastel colors? I can bling the hell out of it (nyuk nyuk) and make it as girly and frilly as possible. So, there we go.

The angel figure was done with Prismacolor pencils and a touch of gold paint pen. There are rose quartz cabochons in the circular thing that she's sitting on. There are several hundred acrylic shinies, and there's iridescent mylar as well. It's all mounted on a watercolored board.

angels who use feathers from their wings made into quills

angels who do self destructive things because they cant die, they need to feel something because they might go insane if not

angels whose fall felt more like that of icarus', they simply flew too close to the sun

angels who make more friends with animals than anything else

angels who don't know how to survive on their own because they're used to the perfectness of heaven

angels who don't know what common things like flowers or grass are

angels.

Gonna make biblically accurate angel designs, probably make them like a whole open species eventually, with lore, so I guess look forward to angel lore posts?
