Author’s Note: Stupid dumblr, deleting my scheduled post, and making me format all of this again. I have one more halloween raffle story to post, hopefully tonight.
Tumblr media
“What happened to normal Halloween costumes? Like Spider-man or something?” Yoongi complained, sorting through the costumes on the rack. “If I have to dress up, can’t I at least wear something…typical?”
“You have to dress up,” Taehyung insisted, pulling a costume off of the rack. “Ooh, this one could be fun.”
“I’m not wearing anything that could be potentially scary. Euny doesn’t like scary costumes.”
“Right. Don’t need nightmares. Ooh! I could wear this Tigger costume! The tail is long enough!” He waved the adult-size costume around with more enthusiasm than Yoongi could ever muster.
Yoongi pulled out a detective costume. “What about this?”
“Kind of boring.”
“Wouldn’t Euny be okay as long as I dressed up?”
“She’d be more excited if it was a fun costume!” He argued happily, tossing the Tigger costume into the cart. “You could be Pooh!”
“No,” Yoongi declined, sighing and looking through the costumes again. “Why does Jimin insist on us wearing these costume anyway? We’re just taking care of the twins and Euny. You’re the one going trick-or-treating with the triplets and Jungkook.”
“And Hobi and Namjoonie.”
“Right. How could I forget.” Yoongi rolled his eyes.
“It’s Euny’s first Halloween!”
“It’s not, though.”
“It’s her first with you,” Taehyung pointed out.
“You’re going to dress as Tigger for trick-or-treating with the boys and triplets?”
Taehyung stopped. “Oh. Right. No. So. What about a pirate costume?”
“You’re the one wearing it.” Yoongi pulled out a prince costume. “What about this?”
“She is going as a princess, it would be cute,” He agreed, then gasped. “It’s a knight costume! We could all match! I’m getting it! We should take family photos!”
Yoongi quietly shook his head in amusement over his younger brother’s enthusiasm. “If you can get Euny to let you take a picture with us, then go ahead. But you know she’s scared of the camera flash.”
“I’ll get one, you watch me.” Taehyung glanced at his phone. “They’re on their way back to the apartment with the twins.”
“Okay. If you’ve made up your mind, lets get some food for dinner and candy for trick-or-treaters.” Yoongi pushed the cart along, not watching to see if Taehyung followed.
“Hyung, are you sure you don’t want to take Euny trick-or-treating?”
“She’s too little, she wouldn’t enjoy it. She’ll get overtired and cranky, and then I’ll be cranky because it could have been avoided.” Yoongi shook his head. “Besides, leaving Jimin alone with the twins?”
“Ariel is there!”
“Leave Ariel alone with Jimin with the twins?”
“Fair.”
It wasn’t that Jimin was incompetent. Jimin was excellent with kids and babies. No, the problem was that Jimin really, really wanted kits of his own and sometimes got a little…distracted. Ariel and Jimin weren’t trying for kids, though, not yet. So, there was a lot of whining and cajoling and trying to talk sense into Jimin while taking care of the kids.
When they also had the triplets, it was different because there wasn’t time to think about wanting kids.
So, Yoongi was there to run interference and to avoid the chaos that was trick-or-treating.
“I want to be a kitty! Like that!” A boy, a human boy, pointed at Yoongi as they passed in the store.
It’d been a while since anyone was so…blatant.
Taehyung had stopped.
Yoongi didn’t bother. The boy’s mother was shushing him and telling him not to be rude. It wasn’t his job to educate or correct such a young kid.
It was his job to get something for dinner and candy for the kids in the apartment building Jimin and Ariel lived in.
Taehyung didn’t bring it up, and Yoongi didn’t have any plans to bring it up either.
Jimin was purring over one of the twins in his lap and Euny, half-reading the book in his hand. Some sort of kids halloween book.
Ariel was holding the other twin, already wearing some sort of blue witch costume—nothing dark or scary—and she had her hair up and sparkles on her cheeks. “Hey! Go ahead and get ready, we’ve got this.”
Yoongi nodded, setting the groceries down and taking his costume.
The prince costume wasn’t too…ostentatious or overdone, which was a small blessing. Still, it took him a while to change because while to shirt was the right size, the pants were…decidedly not. So he had to go through his suitcase to find some pants that would match.
But he was a little excited to match his daughter.
Jimin had, apparently, dressed Eunyeong while Yoongi was searching for pants.
She was the cutest little princess ever. Taehyung had picked out her outfit, and it was an excellent choice.
But she absolutely glowed when she saw Yoongi. “King! Appa King!” She bounced until she was set down and raced over to him.
King. Yeah. Okay. That would work. That was better than a prince.
Taehyung came out with a plastic shield. “Don’t forget Uncle Knight TaeTae! Here to gaurd and protect you!”
Euny squealed delightfully.
Taehyung looked at Yoongi. “Can’t we at least take her to some of the apartments to trick or treat?”
Yoongi looked over at Ariel and Jimin.
“Go for it,” Ariel said, setting one of the twins into the swing and strapping the baby in. “The twins are asleep. And the neighbors aren’t doing anything drastic or scary.”
Jimin nodded. “Although, the one neighbor said she always dresses as a sexy cat. She checked to make sure it wouldn’t offend us.”
“Awesome! Let’s go! Euny’s first trick-or-treating!” Taehyung dragged Yoongi toward the door.
Yoongi smiled a bit and took the plastic jack-o-lantern bucket Jimin offered. “Can you say ‘trick-or-treat’?”
Euny shook her head with a soft mew.
“Can you try?”
“Riiowee,” She squeaked, obviously reluctant.
Taehyung chortled and bounced down the hall to the first neighbor’s door, knocking. “Trick or treat!”
“Tiwoweee!” Euny called as well.
Yoongi grinned, setting her down facing the door.
The neighbor opened the door, wearing a cat-costume. “Oh my goodness! Look at this adorable princess and her bodyguard!”
Euny twisted a bit, tail moving but hidden under her skirts. “Icky feet!”
She gushed while Yoongi melted internally. She dropped a piece of candy into the bucket that Yoongi was helping Eunyeong hold.
Euny watched it drop, then looked up with big eyes. “Candy?”
“Yeah,” Taehyung cheered. “Tell her thank you.”
“ ‘Tank-ee’,” Euny started vibrating. “Candy!” She started running down the hall toward the elevator.
Yoongi and Taehyung quickly exchanged and look and went after her. “Only a few houses, Tae, you don’t have much time.”
Taehyung just huffed, but also laughed. “And I need to take our picture.”
Yoongi scooped up Eunyeong and pulled out his phone. “Try a selca.”
Taehyung gasped happily and crowded in. “Smile Euny! Smile for candy!”
She grinned at the mention of candy (which Yoongi knew he would have to investigate how often she was getting candy, but for now, on Halloween it was just going to be okay), and bounced in Yoongi’s arms seconds after the photo was snapped.
Taehyung held the phone like it was precious and then was using Yoongi’s phone to text the photo to everyone, including himself.
Yoongi couldn’t help but feel that everything was right with the world in that moment. It was silly.
And a little spooky.
Something he wouldn’t let go of no matter what manner of demon or spirit came at him.

Fluffy fluff with a hint of angst: 2,204 words
A/N: It’s been ten months since I updated this. Exactly ten months. Now, I know you guys are going to skip over this, but I want to say that I don’t think Yoongi will ever have a love interest. Not while Euny is little, maybe when she’s a teenager or something. So, I’m going to say that this series is complete, with the caveat of requests or something. If you have objections to Yoongi not having a love interest, come discuss it with me!
Tumblr media
Yoongi lifted the blanket. “Boo!”
She jumped, and grinned, giggling happily.
He let the blanket drop over her again and snatched it up. “Boo!”
She squealed and made grabby hands as she giggled.
He scooped her up, tilting her so he could blow a raspberry on her adorably chubby tummy.
Eunyeong squealed in delight, playfully batting at his ears.
He laughed and then cuddled her, play-biting on her ears and drawing out more giggles and even a playful little growl that meant nothing as she squirmed in delight in his hold.
She descended into purrs soon enough, nuzzling his jaw and eyes droopy with happiness and sleepiness.
He lay her down in her crib with a soft purr, draping the blankets over her as her eyes shut and her sleepy purrs slowed.
“Teach me your magic,” Taehyung whispered from the doorway. “Or is the magic that she loves you better.”
“I’m her father,” Yoongi said, trying not to preen at how happy he felt at being able to put her down for a nap more easily than Tae or their occasional babysitter.
“I wouldn’t have expected her to fall asleep after getting riled up like that.” Taehyung flicked the light off with his tail as they headed out into the living room, carefully closing the door so that they could talk without waking her. “How was her appointment?”
“Doctor said she’s at a healthy weight and they’re happy with her progress,” He purred, letting himself ride the high of such a good report. “They still want us to keep her on the formula mixed with oatmeal, but we’re clear to feed her mostly solid foods.”
Taehyung grinned. “That’s great, hyung. She’s growing so fast.”
“The only thing they’re worried about is her talking level. She’s still a little behind there,” Yoongi said, cleaning up some of the toys and blankets from playing with Euny. “But we already knew that.”
“That’s why we’re reading to her more, right?”
“Yeah.” Yoongi moved into the kitchen, effectively sorting the dishes and stacking them next to the sink. He filled the sink and turned to grab a dishcloth, only to find Taehyung holding one with a stubborn look.
“I’ll wash, hyung, it’s only fair. I was gone this morning.” He stepped around Yoongi and started washing immediately. “I sold a few paintings, hyung.”
“Really? That’s great, Tae,” The elder purred, patting Taehyung on the back. “Your older or your newer?”
“Older, the ones I did in school. I’ve got the pictures and prints for my portfolio, don’t worry,” Taehyung reassured Yoongi’s next concerns with a grin. “The gallery said I could come back and sell again next time.”
Yoongi just grinned back, ruffling the monkey’s hair.
“Appa.” Euny’s voice came from the monitor and both of them paused, listening carefully.
“Appa!” She called again, louder this time.
Yoongi sighed. “She’s already awake?”
“Did we turn on the white-noise-machine?”
Yoongi groaned, and then headed back in to look at his pouty baby.
Her tail was sort of flicking back and forth in agitation.
He went over. “What’s wrong, princess?”
Her ears swiveled every which way and then flattened and she hissed, but not at him, just as a demonstration to him that something was wrong and she couldn’t explain what.
But he knew Tae was right just by the way her ears had swiveled around. He hummed thoughtfully and turned on the machine, then twisted the key on the music box that Seokjin had given her for her birthday. She loved it to pieces and it played one of the songs Yoongi had written for Eunyeong—a lullaby that he had Jungkook record a couple days after Taehyung returned from Europe, but that was currently only circulated around his family members—and it had a cute little kitten inside it that was frolicking in stardust.
Her purr was immediate after hearing the first note of the music box. “Appa.”
He purred in response, then quietly hummed the song along with the music box, scooping her up again and lovingly nuzzling her.
She drifted off more slowly, still not quite asleep when he lay her in her crib, but quickly dropping off as he backed away.
Taehyung glared at him when he returned. “No fair at all.”
Yoongi just shrugged. “You have to take into account that I also understand her kitten behavior better, Tae.”
“Yeah, yeah. So it was the white-noise machine?”
“Yup.”
“Did she really hiss at you?”
“Not at me, just as a general statement, really.” He shrugged. “She hissed at the lack of sound. She’s never hissed at me.”
“Lucky,” Tae huffed. “She’s all giggles and purrs for you and her crying doesn’t last nearly as long as it does for me, or Bethany.”
“Speaking of Bethany, did you really go on a date with her?”
“Oh…um…maybe?”
Yoongi groaned. “I need to find a new babysitter, don’t I?”
“Sorry, hyung.”
“You better find me a new one,” He warned, a slight growl to his tone. “I liked her and Ariel recommended her.”
“If you get the promotion they keep dangling in front of you, then we can move back closer to home and the others can help.”
“I told you, it was just thrown out as something that may or may not happen next year. They’re still constructing offices that way and I’m one of several candidates, not to mention the only hybrid candidate. My company is pretty good about equal opportunity, but the chances are still slim to none. Neither of us should get our hopes up. Now, you’re going to be the one talking to Jimin for three hours to talk to Ariel for ten minutes.”
“You make that sound like a bad thing,” Taehyung protested, grinning.
“It is a bad thing, Taehyung,” Yoongi growled a little more.
The monkey ducked his head, tail finding and wrapping around Yoongi’s wrist. I’m sorry, hyung. Really.”
“It took Eunyeong all of the two weeks you were gone to warm up to Bethany, and even then she still cried when either of us left her for another month. Just because she was a baby when she was abandoned doesn’t mean she doesn’t still have abandonment issues,” Yoongi said firmly. “Maybe a human baby wouldn’t, but Euny isn’t human. She’s a hybrid.”
Taehyung’s head was hanging. “I know. I really am sorry, hyung. I’ll take care of it.”
Yoongi sighed, but patted Taehyung on the back, ending that conversation. He knew the younger man didn’t mean to cause trouble. He’d always been a little impulsive, but he cared for Eunyeong strongly and would do his best to replace their current babysitter—if need be.
“Did she already tell you she wouldn’t be back?”
“No, but I’m assuming right now. I need to call her about Wednesday night, so we’ll see what happens. If she refuses, then I’ll ask our family for Wednesday and you’ll have to get to work finding a replacement.” They both had important things on Wednesday night—Taehyung at a gallery, and Yoongi at a work gala he didn’t want to go to but needed to if he wanted to stay in consideration for the promotion.
“Hyung?”
“Yeah?”
“What about you?”
“What about me?” Yoongi asked, looking up at his brother in confusion.
Taehyng was focused on whatever dish he was washing. “It’s just…one of the reasons we got a babysitter was so that we could both do things. So you could go on dates…even if I’m not available….”
Yoongi internally cringed, but outwardly just started messing with his own hair.
“I mean, when was the last time you’ve gone on a date?” Taehyung asked, obviously concerned.
Yoongi shrugged. “Remember that orange tabby?”
Taehyung made a choked sound. “Before you moved here?! Two years ago?!”
Yoongi shrugged again.
“Hyung, you need to get out more!” Taehyung looked very concerned, almost panicked. “It’s not healthy!”
“And it is healthy to have a different date everyone night?” Yoongi snapped back, frowning and folding his arms. “I’m not suffering, Tae.”
“You don’t honestly want to do it alone your whole life,” Taehyung replied.
Yoongi hardened. “Do what alone?”
Tae froze, eyes widening.
“Do what alone, Taehyung? Raise Eunyeong?” He asked again, glaring at his brother.
Taehyung’s gaze dropped to the dishes again.
Yoongi huffed in frustration. “My priority is making sure Eunyeong grows up happy and healthy. I don’t need a significant other to make sure she has everything she needs. Would it maybe be easier? Maybe. And yes, I wonder if she would be better off in the future having a mom in her life, but that’s not a good reason to enter into a relationship.” Not to mention he didn’t feel the need to be in a relationship. “If you feel like I’m holding you back in any way, you’re free to move out.”
Taehyung’s gaze snapped back up to look at Yoongi in true panic and regret. “I didn’t mean that, hyung! I just…I don’t want you to get lonely.”
“I’m not,” Yoongi replied gently, satisfied that Taehyung understood him. “I’m not lonely. If I do get lonely, you’ll probably be one of the first to know. But dating…right now, I’m not interested. I have everything I wanted—well, other than living close to the rest of our family. But I have my own place, a job I love, a nice roommate, and my daughter. I never thought I would be this happy. I know I’m not a mom, but I’m doing the best that I can and I haven’t hesitated to ask for help, have I?”
Taehyung shook his head, drying his hands and coming over to latch onto Yoongi.
Yoongi sighed and patted his back. “I know you mean well, Tae. And if someone comes along that I’m interested in, then I’ll freak out and probably lose my chance with them and come home and cuddle with Eunyeong talking about how I don’t need anyone.”
Tae let out a little monkey laugh at that, tail wrapping around Yoongi’s waist and knocking them over onto the couch.
“Yah!” Yoongi protested loudly.
Tae just laughed and stayed attached to Yoongi, forcing him into cuddling.
Yoongi protested for a while longer, then just resigned himself to it after a while, especially since his insomniac brother was fast asleep.
A nap didn’t sound too bad.
A little giggle came from the baby monitor.
Tae woke up just enough for Yoongi to escape and get the little kitten.
Yoongi carried her back out to the couch, letting Tae cuddle back up to him.
Euny curled on his chest, giggling as she made little kitten noises with her stuffed animal.
He moved it for her, creating more little giggles and a purr, and felt a warm sense of satisfaction. He read to her, speaking lowly and catching the way she just stared at his face in awe. Maybe understanding, maybe just listening to his low voice as he read.
“Appa,” She murmured, eyes looking heavy.
“Yes, princess?” He asked lowly, glancing to make sure Tae was still asleep.
“‘Ove oo,” She slurred with a mewl. She let out a little kitty sound that said she loved him.
He returned the cat-like affection, then shifted so they were cuddled up more comfortably. “I love you too, Eunyeong.”
“Wuv Taetae too,” She slurred, reaching over and patting Taehyung’s head.
His tail languidly wrapped around her ankle.
Yoongi kissed her chubby little cheek. “He loves you too, princess.”
She wiggled up and kissed him. “Appa.”
He purred softly, brushing her hair from her face and pressing kisses all over her face and getting more giggles and wiggled.
“No, appa!” She squealed as he playfully mouthed her kitten ears, giggling and wriggling to try and escape.
He grinned and laughed, ducking so she could get back at him. He slid them onto the floor, laying on his stomach while she crawled over him and tried to catch his tail-tip (which he let her do because she was moving so well and he was so proud of his baby, he could withstand her little bites on his tail).
He got distracted by his phone for a moment while she was playing with his tail. He grinned and nudged Taehyung awake. “Taehyung-ah.”
Taehyung looked at him blearily.
“Jin said that she’s having twins,” He said, amusement putting a little bit of a cat noise in his voice.
Taehyung started laughing. “Of course she is.”
“One boy and one girl,” He added, shaking his head and pulling Euny away from the corner of the coffee table.
Euny went to Tae, holding her arms out. “Up peas.”
He complied and scooped her up, still laughing about Emma’s situation. “They going to be okay?”
“Yeah, Hobi is moving back in with them to help out with the triplets.”
They both got quiet after a bit while Euny babbled to her stuffed bunny.
“Okay, you really need to get that promotion so we can move closer to home.”
“Yup.”
“Yup yup!” Euny chirped, giggling and grinning at both of them.
Taehyung melted and started cooing over her and tickling her.
Yoongi watched with satisfaction, feeling complete.

A/N: It’s short, but here’s the response to the request! I hope you’re happy with it, annonnie!
Tumblr media
Taehyung poured some juice into the sippy-cup and then glanced around to find the toddler. “Euny?” Little ears popped up behind part of the playground, then there was a little growl before she suddenly managed to spring up and climb onto the platform that was just taller than her. Taehyung chuckled and headed over to the kitten as she preened herself in victory. “Euny, you want some juice?” She grinned up and nodded. “P’eas!” He handed it to her and rubbed her head before heading back over to the picnic table where he had their stuff. She was just old enough to enjoy the park, and seemed to like playing by herself somewhat. Especially climbing things. She was a little terror in the apartment because she was trying to climb everything. Yoongi was ready to die of a heart attack just that morning when they found her on the counter by the stove that was still hot from making breakfast. Taehyung kept an eye on her, especially when an older kid was suddenly running around the playground as well—some sort of monkey hybrid, which Taehyung knew all too well meant that he probably had more energy than he could handle and might barrel through the little kitten before he saw her. “Be careful,” The woman with the boy called. She gave Taehyung a smile. “Kids, right?” He smiled and nodded back. “Full of energy.” “How old is yours?” “My niece is two, only just.” “Ah, so you’re in the terrible twos?” “Not yet.” He shook his head, watching as Euny drank her juice and watched the boy running and playing with big, curious eyes. “What about yours?” “Seven, so we’re well into the blood and guts ages,” She sat down. “What kind is she?” “Mix of Maine coon and American shorthair.” She looked surprised. “She’s a cat?” She looked more carefully. “Well, would you look at that. She is.” He nodded, grinning. “My brother is too. I’m a capuchin, though.” “Ah, spider monkey. Me and my nephew.” “Oh, do you have a fully prehensile tail?” Taehyung asked, eyes lighting up. She nodded toward the playground where the boy was hanging from the monkey bars by his tail. “Whoa! Lucky!” She shrugged. “Gives us an extra hand. But partial prehensile is still useful.” Euny came running over, tripping and letting her cup go flying. The woman caught the cup with her tail and held it up for Euny to take. Eunyeong stared for a moment, then grinned and took the cup. “T’ank ‘ou.” She climbed onto Taehyung’s lap and pointed at the boy with a soft sound. “Look!” “Yeah, that’s cool, isn’t it?” Taehyung squeezed her, grinning as she purred easily in his grasp. “You do?” She asked, looking up at him. He shook his head. “No, my tail isn’t strong enough.” Her stubby tail twitched. “Oh.” “What happened to her tail?” The woman asked, looking concerned. Taehyung stroked Euny’s head. “Well…she’s adopted. Let’s just put it that way.” She nodded understandingly. Eunyeong was watching carefully as the boy hung from his tail for a moment, then dropped and skittered over to them, grabbing his water bottle with his tail before bounding away again. She slid from Tae’s lap, managing to walk one step before tripping. The woman caught her with her tail, picking her up slightly and setting her on her feet. Euny was awestruck, following the tail and feeling it, making both adults laugh. “She’s got a bit of an obsession with tails,” Taehyung apologized. “It’s fine. She’s adorable.” The woman picked Euny up again with the tail, causing the toddler to giggle in delight. “She is,” He leaned back, watching the kitten’s joy, sort of jealous that he couldn’t do that with her. That would make entertaining her so much easier. “She’s so small, too,” The woman grinned and took the toddler in her arms. “She seems sweet.” “She is, a little cuddle bug. Isn’t that right, Eunyeong?” Euny grinned at him and crawled back to his lap with a purr, rubbing her head against his cheek. “Uncle TaeTae.” Tae grinned and held onto her, noticing the way she blinked just a little longer than normal. “I should get her home before she falls asleep. Nice meeting you.” “Nice meeting you. Bye, Eunyeong.” “Bye bye,” Euny squeaked, then bonked her head against his chest and rubbed her face against his shirt. “Appa?” “Your appa is still at work, baby. We’re going to cuddle and take a nap though. How does that sound?” She just purred in response. “Love you, Eunyeong.” He murmured in an attempt to buy some time before she fell asleep. That was one thing he noticed about her, she could drop off into sleep the moment she felt like. It was something she seemed to share with Yoongi: bursts of energy followed by sleepiness. It would make her school years interesting. Though Yoongi had started talking about moving closer to their family and the Sanctuary so that she could go to more accepting schools. Even this long after hybrid rights were restored, there were issues in schools. Being a single dad was hard enough, but worrying about Eunyeong in school would probably drive Yoongi over the edge, something that Taehyung wanted to avoid. That was one of the reasons he’d agreed to help so many years ago. He wanted to work with kids, yes, but he also didn’t want to watch Yoongi work himself to the bone. The man was already skinny back then and Taehyung couldn’t even begin to imagine what would have happened if he hadn’t been around. He knew Yoongi would do everything he needed to take care of himself and Eunyeong, but the cost to his mental health may have been pretty bad. “Love you, TaeTae,” She responded sleepily. Taehyung hurried to get back to the apartment, barely managing to get the to get the door open with his tail and kicking it closed behind him, then diving onto the couch, earning a sleepy giggle from Eunyeong. “I’m the only monkey you ever need, right?” She nodded, even though he wasn’t sure she understood what he had said. He didn’t care that much. He was the main monkey in her life and would be as long as Yoongi let him.

A Little Behind
Description: Being a single, adopted parent isn’t always easy, especially when Taehyung leaves for the few weeks Yoongi absolutely has to go into the office every day of the week, leading to him finding out about the few things he wasn’t ready for. Sanctuary Series: Big Changes, Little Life story.

Fluff and a little angst: 3,014 words
A/N: @bangtantannie, I already said it, but happy birthday. Have some Yoongi. Also, a week feels like forever for posting, and it hasn’t even actually been a week.
Tumblr media
Yoongi finished cleaning and looked around worriedly for something more that might be amiss. Everything was clean and organized. Euny gurgled happily grabbing at the mobile Taehyung had made her. He smiled at her. “You miss your uncle Tae-tae, don’t you?” He took a picture and sent it to Taehyung. He knew Taehyung would appreciate it, especially with how hard he had found it to leave. It was only for two weeks, a trip to Europe to all of the castles and museums and anywhere else he could ever wish to go, courtesy of Becca and Micheal. Tae responded immediately with about twelve different emojis that Yoongi didn’t really know how to respond to. Euny chirped happily, making grabby hands at Yoongi. He picked her up. “It’s going to be okay, right, Euny? We’re going to like the babysitter, and you’re going to be an angel for her. Yeah?” She giggled, grabbing his nose and patting his cheek. He nuzzled her cheek. “My little kitten.” He held her close, trying to push back his anxiety at letting someone else take care of her. At letting someone into his home. Sure, he went through a highly accredited agency that both he and his family had researched. And the woman that was coming was actually a friend of Jimin’s fiance’s best friend, so she had been able to do some extra checks on the woman for Yoongi coming back with a report of graduating summa cum laude from a top university, with minimal stories of normal college stupidity, and a general respect from her peers as the mom of the group. Good things. All good things. But this was his baby. His precious Eunyeong, who’d already endured so much despite not even being a year old. Whoever abused her, hurt her, and threw her into a dumpster. A dumpster. After cutting off half of her tail and starving her. A baby. His baby. He didn’t want her getting hurt because he wasn’t careful enough when finding a temporary babysitter. Not that she was taking care of Eunyeong today, but instead meeting him and Eunyeong “Ow!” He cried out, leaning into where she was trying to tug the earring out of his ear. “Forgot to take that out, didn’t I princess?” He winced and carefully pried it out of her fingers.
She gurgled and released the earring, her stubby tail flicking stiffly. He took her into her nursery and carefully set her down, combing her tail because it made her wiggle, giggle, and purr. Then her hair because it was starting to grow out but tended to get wild and he wanted to make a good impression. He didn’t want her to think that he didn’t take good care of her. He took the best care of her. The best he could, anyway. The buzzer sounded and he picked Euny up, carrying her over to buzz them in. He took a deep breath when she knocked on the door, then opened it and tried to smile. “Hello.” “Mr. Min? Hi, I’m Bethany.” The girl offered her hand, smiling brightly. “Yoongi, and this is Eunyeong,” Yoongi said, managing to shake her hand. Euny’s tail was still, ears back slightly, her normal reaction to strangers, but her ear flicked slightly with interest and her nose twitched. Bethany’s whole demeanor softened. “Hello, Eunyeong.” She held out a hand. Eunyeong sniffed the air, then buried her face into Yoongi’s shoulder with a strange sound. Yoongi winced a little. “She’s a little shy. Sorry.” “It’s okay, I’ve been informed of her history and it’s to be expected.” She pulled out a small stuffed animal. “So she can get accustomed to my scent.” He nodded, gesturing for her to follow him into the living room. Suddenly he felt like his place was a mess, and poorly fit for a baby. He didn’t have much for her, mostly the essentials plus things that his family had given him and Eunyeong for Christmas. “Sorry, it’s a bit of a mess.” “Not at all. Can I see the nursery as well? Just so that I know where it is?” “Oh, right, this way.” He nervously gave her a tour of the apartment, finally stopping at Eunyeongs nursery. It felt bare now that he looked at it with her here. A crib, a chair, and a dresser that Taehyung had helped fit with a changing station. She looked around, nodded, checking the closet and noting where he kept the diapers and such. “And it’s just for the next two weeks, yes?” “Yeah, normally I can work from home but there are a couple big projects right now and I need to be there. Plus I have a couple deadlines coming up.” She nodded, then came over. “May I?” She asked, gesturing to Eunyeong. He swallowed, then handed her over to Bethany. Euny mewled, but didn’t protest much otherwise once she saw him right there. Bethany held her, gently rubbing her back until Eunyeong relaxed enough look at her. “I have a couple of things I like to use when babysitting, is it okay if I bring them? It’s just things like a white noise machine, a boppy and a sensory blanket.” He blinked at her. “A white noise machine, a what and a what?” “A…boppy…um, it’s pillow that’s a U-shape, helps babies sit up and she seems a little weaker in her spine, probably from the malnourishment when she was younger. Plus it can make them feel like they’re being held and gives you a free hand. And a sensory blanket, it’s made up of fabrics and different textures that stimulate the senses. Babies her age are always fascinated by different textures. Hybrids tend to like the softer textures, which is why I have two different blankets, but they’re still fascinated by the regular sensory blanket.” She examined the end of Euny’s tail, then brushed the end of her braid over Euny’s forehead, earning the wide-eyed surprised look Yoongi adored. Or he would adore it if he wasn’t still blinking as he tried to catch up. “Um…I guess that’s fine.” He mentally noted to ask Emma or Becca about that. “Um, a white noise machine?” “For while she naps, the white noise isn’t overwhelming, but can cover sounds from outside or in the apartment that might otherwise wake her. A lot of parents use them at night as well, because they can still hear if their child cries, but the sounds of the city are muted.” She already had Eunyeong hesitantly purring. “Do you have a stroller?” “Yes,” He answered, grateful he could answer that positively. There was so much he didn’t have…maybe he needed to do more research and go shopping. “Mr. Min? Are you okay?” “I just…didn’t realize there was so much…” He gestured around the room. “I’m just realizing that I’m a little under-prepared.” “Not at all, everybody has different ways of taking care of their kids. This is just the way I know. You’re obviously taking amazing care of her. I saw the police report and she’s so much healthier. She’s practically glowing with health. She has everything she needs.” Bethany handed Eunyeong back to him, smiling as Euny purred loudly in his arms, snuggling into him and letting her eyes snap shut. He still felt guilty. Other babies had cute nurseries, with decorations and color. Euny’s nursery had white walls, grey carpet, a black crib, and an oak chair and dresser. The only color came from her pink sheets and the blue changing station. No cute artwork, most of her toys were in the living room, and it felt so bland and…temporary. He didn’t want this to be temporary. He sort of droned through the rest of it while she went over her own outline of how she works and such and while he registered that he didn’t have any problem with it, he also wasn’t able to think of any sort of questions to ask. “Alright, if you’re okay with all of that, then I’ll be here tomorrow at eight?” He nodded. “Yeah. Eight. Or eight-thirty. Either works.” “I’ll be here at eight then. First day is always the hardest. For both the parent and the child.” She said goodbye to Euny and then him, leaving about an hour after arriving. He stood there in a bit of a stupor, then laid Eunyeong down to sleep so he could go do more research. That feeling of being just short of adequate rising the more he looked at pictures of nurseries and toys and equipment. He picked up his phone before he could think about it, listening to it ring and not entirely sure who he was calling. “Yoongi? Everything okay?” “Why didn’t you tell me about all of this stuff?” Yoongi burst out, barely registering the voice as Emma’s. “Sensory stuff? White noise machine? Whatever the hell a boppy is! And her nursery! It looks so temporary and I don’t want this to be temporary but I don’t know how to fix it and am I a terrible parent?!” “Yoongi, I need you breathe. Calming breaths, preferably. You’re an excellent parent. And I’m sorry I didn’t mention sensory toys or activities. It honestly slipped my mind. Besides, a boppy is just a fancy word for a pillow, and there’s one in that tub of supplies I gave you—” He went over, flipping the tub over so that everything came out. “Along with a night-light for her room to replace the one you didn’t like, and some of Nari’s clothes that she didn’t ruin. Do you want me to come out?” He hesitated, staring at the pillow in his hand. “No. Just…am I enough for her?” “Yes. You’re more than enough for her, and you give her more than what she needs to be happy and healthy. You’re a great parent, Yoongi. You’re just, still learning. That’s part of the whole, being a new parent thing. She’s happy, and healthy. The only thing temporary about her nursery is that it looking the way it does is temporary. It’s fixable, and frankly, you’ll want it to be more neutral as she grows older because she’s going to change her mind every month about what her favorite things are. She’ll be in a regular bed eventually, and then her room will change. So don’t worry so much about how it looks. She’s not going to remember how her nursery looked as a baby.” “Right…” “As for sensory toys and blankets, well, I made most of the ones for the triplets. I’ll send Taehyung some links and when he comes back the two of you can make some things. I’ll send a blanket like I had for the triplets in the mail, alright?” “Yeah. Yeah, alright.” “You’re okay?” “Yeah.” “Good. You liked the babysitter?” “I think she’s more competent than I am.” “-Euny will still love you more, don’t worry. Anything else I need to talk you through?” “No. Sorry, thanks.” “Don’t worry about it. I have to go. I’ve got three little troublemakers and their father no-where in sight.” “Yikes, bye.” “Bye.” Yoongi sighed, doing his best to let go of the worries. He took the night-light into her nursery, replacing the one that was too harsh and bright and that he had covered in tape to fix with the Moon-shaped night-light. Eunyeong started purring in her sleep as his scent reached her, so he went over and checked to see how asleep she was, rubbing her belly when she seemed to be dozing. He looked down at his precious baby, rubbing her belly until her purrs sort of faded and she was in a deep slumber. He took his sweatshirt off and hung it on the corner of the crib so that some of his fresh scent was with her, then backed out of the room, taking the monitor with him though he didn’t expect her to wake up for a while. He texted Taehyung, telling him that he was going through his artwork, then proceeded to do so, finally finding some nature scene that Taehyung must not have cared much about but was pretty and colorful without being overwhelming. Yoongi took it and went to his own room, digging in the closet until he found his tools and decided to hang the painting once Eunyeong was awake. Taehyung had sent ten texts by the time Yoongi checked again. Yoongi sent him a picture of the nature scene, simply saying he was going to hang it in Eunyeong’s nursery. He assumed Taehyung was done complaining when all he received was a smiley face and a thumbs up. Eunyeong woke up about an hour later, which was a little longer than her nap normally went, but had given Yoongi time to clean out the fridge and start dinner. He set her on the carpet with some toys before turning and quickly deciding where to hang the painting, hammering in a nail and positioning the painting while Euny looked at him with big eyes and attentive ears to the sound. He made sure it was level, then set the tools on top of the dresser to clean up later, sitting on the carpet with Euny and letting his tail brush over her head. She was mostly preoccupied with grabbing at the carpet, but she also liked the stuffed bunny Jungkook had gotten her for Christmas. She squished it’s foot and pulled on it’s ears, making soft sounds that he couldn’t help but purr at. She was adorable and he was smitten with his kitten. He pulled her into his lap, also grabbing the bunny and moving it around as he sang a kids song that he remembered from the triplets. She was smiling and giggling, purring loud enough that he could feel it against his chest. He snapped a picture of Euny hugging the bunny and sent it to Jungkook, surprised with Jungkook sent back a picture of him wide-eyed and grinning almost immediately with the caption, “She’s so cute!” He wasn’t about to disagree. He finally remembered that he was cooking and rushed to pick Eunyeong up so he could go look and see how badly he had ruined everything. It was bad. He groaned and then made a snap decision to go to the grocery store and get a rotisserie chicken for his own dinner. It would last him a few meals, and he could get some more oatmeal to mix into her Euny’s formula. He’d been doing since Christmas, to help her get enough food and get up to a healthy weight, which her doctor had informed him she was finally reaching at her check-up last week. She was just a little bit behind developmentally, and hadn’t been ready for solid food until very recently, and even then, more of it made it on her face and clothes than to her stomach. The store was chaos, so he kept her carrier loosely covered by the blanket, to try and muffle some of the noise. He was almost ready to check out when she started mewling softly, the mewl she let out when she needed her diaper changed. Suddenly he remembered why he hated going to the grocery store. He went toward the bathrooms, hoping to be proven wrong, but there were no changing tables. He growled in frustration, trying to figure out the cleanest way to change her. He hated public places because of this. It wasn’t so bad when there was one bathroom for men and women because then the changing table was available, but in bathrooms like this there were rarely changing tables and he wasn’t about to change her on the ground. He managed to change her but it wasn’t easy and he definitely asked the customer service desk why there wasn’t a changing table in the men’s bathrooms. “Dad’s need to change diapers too. I’m a single dad, and I can’t just ask someone to change her for me. That’s how kids get kidnapped.” “If you’d like to make a formal complaint—” “Yes.” The worker nodded, looking a little scared. He sighed. “Sorry, I didn’t mean to take out my frustration on you. I just don’t want her to get hurt or have to change her on the floor of a public bathroom.” She nodded again, handing him some papers to send in the the company’s headquarters. He got his groceries and went home, feeding Eunyeong before himself. That night he sat on his couch, holding his purring baby in his arms, sending the email of complaint to the head office of his grocery store so that he and Taehyung could change Eunyeong in the bathrooms without a problem. He almost laughed at how stupid it had been, doubting himself. He could take care of Eunyeong with barely any crying throughout the day, meeting her needs and desires, without anyone helping him. He wasn’t even tired. Not as long as his baby needed him. He could get through an entire shopping trip with barely any inconvenience. He knew that he wasn’t the most expressive of people, but he also knew that Euny loved him more than she loved even Taehyung—one of the most expressive people Yoongi knew. He knew it wouldn’t be easy, being a single dad, but he would make the same choice over and over again. He would always choose to care for Eunyeong. And him being a little behind on what to have for her was going to be okay, because she was a little behind as well, and they both had a bunch of people willing to help them catch up. She blinked sleepily up at him, her purr growing deeper as she started to fall asleep. “I love you, my princess,” He purred, kissing her forehead and relishing in the warmth and happiness of his once-cold and lonely apartment.

Yoongi huffed out a sigh, glaring at the pavement as he walked back to his apartment with the bed that was just a little too hard and rooms devoid of the homey touches and smells that he had grown accustomed to after getting adopted by Micheal—before the laws passed that freed all hybrids. In all honesty, he probably spent more time at Micheal’s sister’s house since Taehyung was always going over and Hobi was there, but in both homes there was this warmth that he didn’t get from his apartment in a town seven hours away from home. He liked his job, he really did. He was working at record label as a producer after being an intern for his last semester of undergrad and they hired him on full-time after that. But he also missed the home-cooked meals and cuddles that came with being at either house he finished growing up in. He froze, unsure why his ears were twitching until he made out a sound he was familiar with after Jin’s triplets had been born. He looked around hoping it was just a parent trying to get their fussy baby to sleep by walking around the block. But the sound was coming from an alley. He followed the sound, his tail lashing in horror as he looked in a dumpster at the infant. He quickly climbed up to pull it out. “Shh, shh, it’s okay. You’re okay,” He whispered, fear spiking through him. How long had it been there? Why would it parents dump her? What was he supposed to do? Should he take it to the police station? Should he take it home and feed it and bathe it and then take it to the police?
He was already walking with it, heading straight for his apartment, the nasty smell of the garbage on such a small being getting the better of him. He was reminded of Hobi, who had protected from owners so long ago, and of the sweet triplets he got to call his cousins, as well as the little boy he got to call his little brother. He had helped out ever since the triplets were born, and when he went home or Becca and Micheal visited he helped with his brother. He’d be fine. Right? Gratitude at the lack of nosy neighbors rose up in him as he made it to his door without any stops, and then he managed to unlock it all while gently bouncing the baby. The baby was less fussy now, or maybe it was just running out of strength. He hurried to the kitchen, but he wasn’t sure what to give the kid. Was it old enough to eat soft foods? Did it need formula? All questions he asked his phone, deciding that he’d play it safe and give it some of the formula that Becca had accidentally left last time they visited. The kid was still in diapers, and seemed to be younger than his brother. He hoped that Becca had forgotten some diapers as well as, and went to look as he let the water warm up for the bottle. He managed to find a diaper that had been looked over when they were packing up to go and hurried to the bathroom to changer it since he knew that it would be uncomfortable and since he didn’t have any of the stuff one would normally use, he had to make do with what he had to take care of her. And it was definitely a her. He glared at the injury to her tail. It looked like it had be cut off recently about halfway down and it had been shoved under clothing that was far too small for the baby. He bathed her before putting her in a clean diaper and carefully treating her tail and looking over her other injuries. His tail flicked angrily behind him as he carefully wrapped her in the softest blankets he had and carried her back into the kitchen to get her that bottle. She wasn’t fussing as much now, obviously exhausted, but the sound of her weak cries scared him. He tested the temperature again, grateful for Becca being a little scattered and leaving behind a bottle along with everything else, and started trying to feed the little tyke. It took a little while, but once she realized it was food she got quiet and drank. He relaxed a little, sitting down and purring softly as her ears perked slightly. “There you go.” He could smell her natural scent, something a little like sugar cookies and the natural baby scent of warm milk. He got a kitchen towel to burp her, pleased that she didn’t spit up on him. But now he had to decide what to do with her. Was he supposed to contact child services? Or take her to the police? Yoongi looked down at her now-peaceful face, noticing how cutely she curled toward him, one hand curled next to her face and the other tucked snugly into the blanket. Her dark hair had a little bit of curl to it, and her brown, tabby-striped ears were fluffy with kitten fur. Then she started purring softly and his heart melted. He called Jin, knowing the older man would know what to do. “Yoongi? Everything okay?” Jin sounded worried, but also partially distracted. “I’m fine, but I…” He didn’t know how to word this. “Yoongi? What’s wrong?” “I found a baby. In a dumpster. I already fed her and gave her a bath and she had a lot of bruises on her and her tail…someone took off half of her tail. Do I take her to the police? Or is there some number I’m supposed to call? What do I do?” Yoongi asked, trying to keep his voice soft so that she would keep drifting off. “You think she was abused?” “Yeah.” “Take her to the police station so that a report can be filed on the abuse. They’ll help you figure things out from there. You okay otherwise?” “Yeah, I’m fine. Everything okay there?” “Just getting ready for Thanksgiving. You coming this year?” “Definitely,” Yoongi replied. “I’m not missing that pecan pie for anything. Not again.” Jin chuckled. “Let me know how it goes at the station. Call us if you need help with anything.” “Thanks, hyung.” “See you soon, Yoongi.” “Bye.” Yoongi slid his phone back into his jacket pocket and gathered his stuff again to head to the police station. It took forever once there, as he explained the situation four different times and they woke her up examining her injuries much to his annoyance and impatience. He wanted them to stop so he could comfort her, his anxiety starting to act up the longer they ignored her cries so they could document the bruises on her tiny body. Finally they let him wrap her up in the blanket again and he held her close, purring to quiet her down more than feeling like he actually wanted to purr and shooting a glare at the careless and clueless officer. But she quieted in his grasp almost immediately, probably because the blankets were still warm. Child services came with a foster parent to look after the baby, but Yoongi recoiled at the smell of the woman. “I’m not letting her be fostered by an addict,” He growled, ears back. Which resulted in two more hours of him arguing with everyone until finally he hissed and took the folder from the woman. “Then I’ll take her.” Fifteen minutes later he had a list of things he’d need to buy for her, and he was grateful that the store was open twenty-four hours. She slept the whole way through the store and the looks he got were priceless. While they finished scanning the items, he sent Jin a quick text telling him to call when he woke up. His phone rang right after he finished putting away all of the things he had bought. “Jin?” “You said to call. Why are you surprised?” “It’s three in the morning. What are you doing up?” “Kae had a nightmare and I wasn’t about to let him wake his mother since she’s not feeling great.” “What’s wrong with her?” “She’s pregnant. I just haven’t told her yet because she’s been stressed. What’s up?” “I took her in.” It was silent for a couple seconds. “You…took in the baby?” “The foster parent that the agency brought over was a drug addict, and all those f—” “Language and don’t you dare insult humans.” “They were so careless with her. I just…I couldn’t let her go to anyone that wasn’t going to be amazing and I know I’m not that amazing but…” “You’ll be fine. You’re responsible and you have a lot of love to give. I’m just surprised. What about work?” “I…I haven’t thought that far ahead yet.” “Call Taehyung.” “W-what? Why?” “He loves kids. He’s your brother. He’ll gladly help you out. Or wait until you come home for Thanksgiving and ask him to help you then.” Yoongi sighed and nodded. “Okay. Tell Kae I’ll be there for naps soon.” Jin chuckled. “I’ll do that. Yoongi?” “Yeah?” “I’m proud of you. You didn’t have to take her in, but you did and I’m really proud of you.” Yoongi felt warm and fuzzy all over. “You would have done the same. You did do the same. Y/n did the same.” “I’m still proud of you.” Yoongi was smiling, fighting back a purr. “Thanks, hyung. I’ll see you soon.” “Bye.” Yoongi sighed, letting the purr escape him. He hated to admit that the older hybrid being proud of him made him so happy. The age gap between them wasn’t as big as it was with the others and Jin had never ended up being a father figure to him like he had Hoseok. But something about doing what Jin would have done without thinking, when he did see Jin as one of the best men he knew just made him a little proud of himself. Because that meant he was a good man too. She stirred slightly in his arms, but didn’t wake up as she purred in her sleep. “You need a name, don’t you little one?” He whispered, going and settling her in her crib. He had turned the thermostat up so that the room was warm enough he could put the blankets away after he carefully changed her into some warm pajamas. He leaned on the crib, rubbing her belly to sooth her when she stirred a little, and searching for names that he liked. He looked at her sweet little face, her cute tabby ears, and her poor mangled tail. “Eunyeong?” He whispered. She started purring in her sleep again and he grinned. “Eunyeong,” He agreed, then carefully removed himself from her side, triple checking the baby monitor before collapsing on his bed. He had a feeling his ability to sleep anywhere and at anytime was going to come in handy. ———— By the time he reached home he had a newfound respect for every single parent out there that had to drive with a baby in the backseat. Especially the ones without help while driving with a baby in the back seat. He had known it would be difficult and that the trip would be longer because he’d have to stop and take care of her. He hadn’t realized that he would be dead-tired by the time he was standing in front of Jin on the front step of Jin’s house. Jin gave him a sympathetic smile and took the baby carrier. “If you can last ten minutes, it’ll be naptime and Kaemon will be ready for cuddles.” “He doesn’t need any special attention still?” “Nope. He’ll be out the moment he’s in the bed,” Jin replied, guiding Yoongi in before setting the carrier down and pulling out the cute kitten. “She’s beautiful.” Yoongi smiled despite his exhaustion. “I know. And she purrs in her sleep.” Y/n came over, grinning and hugging Yoongi. “Long drive?” He rested his head on her shoulder. He always found comfort in her. She just smelled like home and safety. “You doing okay? It can be a big change, having a baby,” She spoke softly and gently like he was one of her kids and he couldn’t help the tired purr. “I just wanted her to be safe. She’s safe with me, and I know I’ll take care of her better than that foster parent would,” He said, then pulled away, worry rising in him. “But what if I can’t? What if I’ve just made a huge mistake? I mean, what if she would be better off with…someone else…” He trailed off seeing her warm smile. “Yoongi, worrying about what’s best for her, that’s something a parent does. You’re not alone. You have all of us. You’re already a natural at caring for others without thought or question. You got her here, all on your own.” She kissed his forehead. “You’ll be great dad. Remember how protective you were of Hobi and Taehyung? You’re a natural. Now go get the greetings out of the way and take a nap. We’ve got this cutie-pie.” “Eunyeong,” He said. “Her name is Eunyeong. I filed it and everything.” She smiled and took the little kitten in her arms. “Hi, Eunyeong. I’m your aunt,” She murmured in the same voice she used with her kids, slowly walking away. Yoongi wasn’t surprised that he wasn’t even remotely concerned about her or Jin holding his baby, and he made his way into the living room and kitchen to where the other boys and the triplets were. It had become tradition for all six of the adopted boys to stay with Y/n and Jin for the holidays since that had been when a lot of important charities and events took place for hybrid rights and foundations that Micheal and Becca attended to keep advocating for them. Nowadays it was more because it was a tradition than because Micheal and Becca were gone, but they knew that those two enjoyed the quiet time. Hoseok turned and grinned, running over and hugging him so hard he almost fell over. He couldn’t help the grin that spread across his face. “J-Hope!” “Yoongi!” Namjoon was over next, hugging him briefly but still excited to see another one of his pack-members. Yoongi smiled back at Namjoon, then got hit by the Taehyung-truck and couldn’t breathe for a few moment. “Where’s the baby?!” Taehyung asked finally pulling away, his monkey tail was curled around Yoongi’s wrist excitedly. “Y/n has her right now, and she’s sleeping. Look, Tae—” “I’d love to help! I’m still not a good cook, but I can make bottles and I love helping with Timothy and the triplets, I’ll make sure not to make a mess of your apartment—” “Tae!” Yoongi interrupted, afraid the boy would pass out from lack of oxygen. “Thank you.” Taehyung hugged him again. “Of course! You’re my brother! I’m gonna go see my new niece!” He skipped off. Jimin hugged Yoongi, clinging for a moment, then pulling away so that Jungkook could briefly hug Yoongi. Then the triplets came out of the family room. “Yoongi-hyung!” Minsu yelled, racing over. Kaemon and Nari were right behind him. Yoongi hugged all of them tightly, pecking each of their foreheads. He’d learned very quickly that if he wasn’t upfront with his affection for them they would get worried since he tended to be more stone-faced and solemn. Some part of him knew that they were a large part of why he felt ready to care for Eunyeong, and he couldn’t be more grateful to the little monsters. Kae kept hugging him after his siblings stopped and were chattering happily. The little pup pulled away and looked at Yoongi with sleepy eyes and a sleepy smile. Yoongi purred softly. “Naptime?” Kae nodded, dropping his head back on Yoongi’s shoulder. Yoongi picked him up, grunting slightly at the effort. They weren’t so little anymore. “Aish, are you texting your girlfriend again,” Hoseok was teasing Jimin. Jimin just grinned back. “You’re just jealous because I met someone before you.” Jungkook smiled, listening to the two of them. Yoongi waited as Namjoon led the other two of the triplets away so that he and Kaemonnie could rest in peace up in Yoongi’s regular room. Kae immediately cuddled into his side. “You’re a daddy now?” Yoongi nodded slowly. “Can we still cuddle?” “Of course, kiddo,” Yoongi whispered, purring softly. “It means I’ll want naps even more every time I come here.” Kae wiggled happily and then he was asleep, breathing even and face relaxed. Yoongi sighed. This bed was so much comfier than his. Maybe he’d have to ask if he could take it back with him to replace his mattress. Y/n wouldn’t mind. He was glad Taehyung was so excited to come help Yoongi take care of Eunyeong. He hadn’t figured out what to do about work yet, but having Tae volunteer to come solved that problem. He made more than enough to support the three of them, especially if the last two songs he produced did as well is the ones before that. They would still have to live in moderation so that he could save up for emergencies, but knowing how much Tae liked to hoard his money, he didn’t think it’d be too hard to make sure his younger brother was frugal. He would just have to make grocery lists so that Tae wouldn’t get distracted and get everything but what they needed. He made up his mind to go through and budget for the next month once he woke up and let himself fall asleep cuddling the four-year-old as thoughts of his purring baby downstairs calmed him. ———— Taehyung cooed softly, tickling Euhyeong’s nose with his tail and quickly pulling it out of reach. The capuchin-hybrid loved kids, and his love for kids was translating into him being great with Yoongi’s baby-girl. Yoongi put the last suitcase in the car. “Ready Tae?” Tae quickly ran to hug Micheal and Becca goodbye while Yoongi made sure Tae had actually finished buckling Eunyeong in. The moment she saw Yoongi she purred loudly, making grabby-hands at him. He made a couple faces at her, loving the little giggle that had appeared just over the weekend as she grew healthier, happier, and stronger. It was amazing what one week did for his baby girl. What surprised him most was how naturally she attached herself to him. She was happiest with him, her sugar cookie scent growing stronger in his arms, or when she saw him. Y/n had kissed his cheek. “She knows who her daddy is. She knows the scent of the person who took care of her. She’s imprinted. Like a duckling.” Even now, her reaction to seeing him had him purring. Taehyung took the keys. “You sit back with her. I’ll have plenty of time to spend with her while you’re at work.” Yoongi smiled appreciatively, and buckled into the seat beside her, bouncing her new stuffed puppy in front of her and letting her grab it and feel it. The different textures catching her interest. He loved the way her little mouth curled into a smile, her cute almond eyes, how soft her skin was, but most of all he loved her temperment. She was the easiest baby in the world. She had to be. She didn’t cry right away when her diaper was messy, she just fussed a bit. When she was tired, she fell asleep. When she was hungry she would look at him with teary eyes and open her mouth multiple times letting out tiny mewls. Most of the time, she was easy to calm down and put back to sleep and he knew he was one lucky black cat because he remembered the struggles that Y/n and Jin went through with three, and hearing about the struggles with Timothy. For her to quiet down so easily was a miracle he hoped he would never take for granted. She was easy to please for most of the long car ride, sometimes just satisfied with him stroking her head or playing with her foot. She slept on and off, but was awake for a surprising amount of the ride. They didn’t have to stop nearly as much as Yoongi did when he came down alone with her. Taehyung sat in the back with her for the last two hours, napping more than anything after five long hours of driving. But the last half hour was her crying as Taehyung ruled out almost every option as to what would be upsetting her. “Oh, I think she wants to be held.” “We’re almost there. Let’s just let her cry it out. That’s something we have to do. Right?” “Yeah…” “I know you don’t like it, but for now it’s what needs to happen. We’re way to close for me to even think of stopping.” “Okay, hyung. I’ll do what I can for her without pulling her out.” Yoongi nodded, watching in the mirror as his younger brother pet her hair and rubbed her tummy. “Shh, Eunyeong-ah, we’re almost home. Then you can cuddle all you like. And tomorrow you and I are going to have a great day of changing diapers and cleaning, yah?” Yoongi did his best not to chuckle at how genuinely excited Taehyung sounded to spend the day with Eunyeong despite knowing it was going to be smelly and messy. As soon as he put the car in park, Taehyung pulled her out of her carseat and cuddled her close, which quieted her cries a little. They unloaded the car and Taehyung checked off every reason she might be upset again before just shrugging at Yoongi. “Guess she’s just upset.” “Here, I’ll take her while you settle in. Get some food cooking for us.” “Thanks, hyung,” Tae replied, handing her over and then heading toward his room. He stopped when Eunyeong fell silent after a couple of quieter wails. Yoongi and Taehyung looked at each other with big eyes. Taehyung took a deep breath. “Oh, she’s gonna cry a lot, isn’t she?” “It might just be because she was upset for so long,” Yoongi tried to reason. Taehyung nodded slowly. “She’ll get used to me eventually. You can take long lunches, right?” “Yeah.” “Alright, be ready to if I call saying I’m going crazy.” “Hey, Tae?” “I know, you’re grateful. We’re family. Besides, I’ve been thinking about taking care of kids anyway and this just works out, Yoongi. It works. I’ll unpack now. I’m glad you have a first level apartment.” “Trampoline?” Tae nodded, then disappeared into his room. Yoongi nodded, remembering the discussion in the store that he had had with Y/n. They had been Christmas shopping. She had pointed it out and he had highly approved of her choice because Tae had been driving him up a wall with his energy. Taehyung adored it and used it every day, which helped out immensely. “Hey, Tae?” Yoongi called out, noticing the note he had made himself on the fridge. “Yeah?” “Are you still afraid of the doctors office?” The lack of answer was answer enough. “Okay, I’ll make sure I have off so I can take Eunyeong.” “Thank you, hyung.” Yoongi got the ramen cooking with one hand, bouncing Euny lightly while he pulled out the turkey from Thursday and set it on the counter. He also pulled out some of the jars of baby food Y/n had sent with him because she had pointed out that Eunyeong was old enough to start eating as well as having a bottle. She watched everything with big eyes, her tail flicking lightly with curiosity. He kissed her head and she erupted into purrs, curling into him and babbling a little. He purred and wrapped his other arm around her. He’d had a couple relationships fail in the past three years, and he knew that a relationship would be even more difficult with a baby. He would get judged by strangers. She was worth it all. His heart felt so fell to have this little life love him when he really hadn’t done anything. He had a baby girl. His Eunyeong. He smiled down at her. “We’re going to be just fine, aren’t we, Euny?”
