It’s Black Breastfeeding Week!! I’m so happy I was able to breastfeed both of my boys, the oldest breastfed while supplementing with formula (don’t listen if anyone tells you that giving them a bottle will make them stop breastfeeding, he gave up the bottle but nursed til age 2) and the youngest was exclusively breastfed for his first 10 month, and weaned just a few months ago. Black women do breastfeed and cloth diaper and are peaceful parents, we exist! If your people aren’t supportive, step up your tribe. There’s no greater bond than that of a mother and her baby; a huge part of our bond has been breastfeeding and despite the negativity and misinformation surrounding it, I continue to do what I feel is best for my daughter. 💪🏽 (and pay special attention to her dental care 🦷) Lariah is 3 years and and 3 months old. Our breastfeeding journey is not yet over, but it has been tapering over the last few months. We are down to 1-2 sessions a day and comfort emergencies. Lariah has been very involved and vocal in the decision making during this process because I want her to decide for herself that she is done with breastfeeding.
