You know what. I found the one form of “NFTs” that I am okay with. Well. Kind of. So. Western comic books have what they call variant covers. There’s usually a bunch of artists that make different covers for one issue of a comic. Well. I recently picked up a comic with a randomized variant cover that’s world started as stories made off of a bunch of NFTs. And. I like the idea of a comic with a randomized cover. Granted it’s basically a base picture that has randomized accessories. But I find it really cool. And instead of it being digital and you never being able to touch it, it’s a physical thing that you can hold in your hand and read. Also. It is $5 and comes with a story. And the comics don’t really feel like a scam or anything at all. It’s a comic book meant to be sold at a store with a set price. Also. The world is apparently open source. Which I find to be neat as well. Idk. It’s neat and the comic itself isn’t a scam. So. Yeah.

My 2024 Comic Reading List

Listed alphabetically, this is every title I read this year. I’ve either read the entirety of each series and/or am currently up to date with the overwhelming majority of these, though a few of them I did drop, and some were rereads. I also didn’t double down on series with the same names (such as Wolverine, Iron Man, X-Men, and other titles that have ended and relaunched this year) but I did include one shots. Almost all of these were read physically and are part of my boyfriend and I’s collection, but a couple of them were read digitally- mostly but not all of the manga. Ultimately, I can say I’ve read at least one issue of every title on this list.

Working with 16 other artists, Hofmann created 100 32-by-32 pixel images combining elements of science fiction and fantasy; those were then “remixed” into 1,600 “siblings.” The idea was to use the Blitmaps as the basis for a kind of blockchain version of the Marvel Cinematic Universe, turning characters into merchandise, games. The project was a modest hit — the cheapest Blitmap today costs about $98,000.

The 7,777 [Loot] bags that Hofmann offered up for minting were all snapped up more or less instantly. In the next five days, Coindesk reported, Loot bags were resold for $46 million, and had a market cap of $180 million. On Wednesday, the cheapest Loot bag could be had for about $20,000. That price more than doubled overnight, and would now cost more than $46,000.
