Just found this shounen manga. I really do love the kiddo-older guy combination so just the manga cover alone caught my attention. I've only read five chapters and I'm enjoying it so far. Oh, and the gangster neighbour is quite hot. 🤭🤭🤭 Jokes aside, I do hope that this will get animated one day. 🙏

First Impression: Me and My Gangster Neighbor

Me and My Gangster Neighbor is about Yuuhi Sekine, an elementary school student who lives an ordinary and peaceful life. That is until his upstairs neighbor, Mr. Aoi, a total tsundere serious looking gangster, who is secretly an Otomen with a penchant for cute things, comes crashing through the ceiling of his apartment. In exchange for keeping his secret, Yuuhi requests that Mr. Aoi house-sits with him when he is home alone. Is this the beginning of a friendship between two polar opposites?

So far, I’m enjoying the budding friendship between Yuuhi and Mr. Aoi. Despite their difference in age, they manage to understand each other on an intuitive level and get along pretty well (at least for the most part). Yuuhi does not judge Mr. Aoi for his job, nor his secret hobby, and despite being selfish and immature at times, Mr. Aoi definitely has a soft spot for Yuuhi.

Despite it being a clichéd theme in manga, one thing that is clear from Me and My Gangster Neighbor is that you should never judge a book by its cover. So go ahead. Read past the cover and give this manga a try.
