I don’t need to watch conclave because I have already engaged with multiple pieces of borgias media. hope they haven’t changed the rules in the last 500 years
#borgiaposting#i do actually want to watch conclave. but i feel like i’ve gotten the gist of it (carlos diehs’ beautiful face) from tumblr already#my problem with the depiction of the conclave in fuyumi soryo’s cesare was that it was really longwinded and and only had ugly old guys#in it. conclave (2024) appears to artfully dodge this mistep by putting one pretty guy in it#probably won’t watch until it lands on a streaming service though

what I love about borgia historical fiction is that while writers tend to focus on the relationship between cesare and lucrezia, the importance of cesare/micheletto yaoi can NEVER be understated. every borgia adaptation I've seen understands the implicit homoeroticism of having a best boy friend who is also a devoted assassin. it doesn't even need to be said
#the borgias#cesare#cantarella#actually i read cantarella (my first borgia media) because it was labled as bl#and while it had its moments (you higuri is predominantly a yaoi mangaka and it shows) i was left feeling a little misled#not because it focused more on cesare and lucrezia but because micheletto and lucrezia were the central endgame couple#i can excuse incest but i draw the line at boring het romance#borgiaposting
