After a surge in home energy bills that left many New Jersey residents with costs that have doubled, or more, there have been widespread calls for hearings to hold the state utility commission, the governor and supporters of green energy accountable.
State Sen. Mike Testa, R-Salem, echoed those calls and said on Wednesday that much of the blame goes to Democrat Gov. Phil Murphy’s "Energy Master Plan," launched in 2020.
"New Jersey is already one of the most unaffordable states in the United States of America. Now people are being hit with energy bills that are essentially doubled. And look, I get it that it was a hot July, but it wasn't that hot that your energy bills should have doubled," Testa said.
One constituent apparently told Testa they raised their thermostat four degrees on average this summer in the hopes of saving money but that the cost still somehow increased "significantly."
Homeowners in suburban Morris County vented about the news on a local social media group, according to the Morristown Daily Record, with a Parsippany resident questioning a $782 monthly bill.
"Quite frankly, what I think happened is, via the Murphy Energy Master Plan that I've often called the energy disaster plan, it seemed that the BPU (New Jersey Board of Public Utilities) and the Murphy administration are working in tandem chasing this green energy dream.
"It’s what I call the energy disaster plan. It's a green energy nightmare," he said, adding that BPU officials went so far as to wear windmill pins at public functions amid New Jersey’s kerfuffle over offshore turbines.
In a lengthy statement, BPU acknowledged it had received correspondence from New Jerseyans and offered several potential reasons for the rate hikes.
The board cited increases in generation costs and usage, and it asked customers to contact their utility or the board right away if they find an "anomaly and cannot determine an explanation" A one-time $175 bill credit program is also available, a board spokesperson said.
PJM, the energy transmission company that covers much of the Mid-Atlantic, offered data to Fox News Digital on the matter as well.
PJM research showed electricity demand is likely to increase in the region particularly due to "proliferation of high-demand data centers" and "thermal generators retiring at a rapid pace due to government and private sector policies as well as economics."
Meanwhile, at the federal level, Rep. Jeff Van Drew, R-N.J., fumed at the BPU this week in a letter obtained by Fox News Digital, which cited "thousands" of constituents discovering unbearable bill increases.
"Given these alarming reports, I demand that the New Jersey Board of Public Utilities (NJBPU) hold a public hearing in South Jersey to allow residents to voice their concerns directly to the Board," he wrote, adding the board must also determine whether there is a correlation between the rate hikes and the offshore wind turbine operations in his Cape May district.
Van Drew said New Jersey officials must take the situation seriously, and he dismissed claims that the "unseasonably warm summer" was the only variable.
"We need transparency and accountability from the NJBPU to ensure that the needs and concerns of South Jersey residents are being effectively addressed," he said.
Van Drew previously noted how Danish green power company Ørsted withdrew its windmill plans for the Jersey Shore despite Murphy’s full support and taxpayer funding: "They still couldn't make it."
While Murphy’s office did not return a request for comment, the governor previously praised his Energy Master Plan’s goal of 100% clean energy by 2050 in the Garden State.
"The Energy Master Plan comprehensively addresses New Jersey’s energy system, including electricity generation, transportation and buildings, and their associated greenhouse gas emissions and related air pollutants," he said.
In a statement Tuesday, the Murphy administration highlighted a "Residential Energy Assistance Payment (REAP) Initiative" to provide financial relief to thousands of households, of the same $175 figure cited by BPU.
"Making our state more affordable for New Jersey families has been the top priority since day one," Murphy said in the statement.
State Assembly Speaker Craig Coughlin, D-Perth Amboy, added it is "great to see this resource added to the growing list of support available to residents who need a little extra help in our state."
Assemblywoman Nancy Munoz, R-Summit, said price-per-kilowatt hour increases averaged 8.6% in Central Jersey.
"It’s simple economics: When supply drops and demand surges, prices go up," she told Fox News Digital.
"I'm of the belief that Americans are innovative. … The government can't be mandating deadlines at the same time that they're … shutting down natural gas production."
Munoz, who serves on the Budget Committee, said there are likely Democrats who agree the rate hikes are a problem: "That's kind of a silly concept for them to think, like, do they not care that their constituents are the ones that are having to absorb these massive increases in cost?"
Fox News Digital reached out to state Senate President Nick Scutari, D-Clark, for such a perspective.
Citing attempts to make New Jersey vehicle sales 60% electric by 2035, Munoz said there won’t be the proper infrastructure to fulfill the need, regardless of opinions on EVs themselves.
When Testa was asked about other states’ similar green energy endeavors – such as then-New York Gov. Andrew Cuomo shuttering the Indian Point nuke plant on the Hudson River opposite Haverstraw in 2020 – he expressed relief that crackdowns hadn’t gotten that far at home.
A similar nuclear plant in Lower Alloways Creek Township remains operational, he noted, adding that he is proud to have it and its jobs and generation ability in his district.
Testa said the state’s energy portfolio is 50% natural gas, 40% nuclear and 10% other, which flies in the face of Murphy’s aversion to additional natural gas production.
While some energy experts fear crises arising from nuclear power, such as the 1979 Three Mile Island meltdown in Dauphin County, Pa., Testa said technology has advanced since and that there are also small modular nuclear reactors similar to those on submarines that could generate safe, clean energy inland at low cost.
"By the way, we’re positive that those don’t kill whales," he said.

2. Phân loại máy đầm bàn phổ biến

3. Cách chọn mua đầm bàn phù hợp

Excerpt from this story from the Associated Press (AP):
New Jersey hit the pause button Wednesday on an offshore wind energy project that is having a hard time finding someone to manufacture blades for its turbines.
The New Jersey Board of Public Utilities granted Leading Light Wind a pause on its project through Dec. 20 while its developers seek a source for the crucial components.
The project, from Chicago-based Invenergy and New York-based energyRE, would be built 40 miles (65 kilometers) off Long Beach Island and would consist of up to 100 turbines, enough to power 1 million homes.
Leading Light was one of two projects that the state utilities board chose in January. But just three weeks after that approval, one of three major turbine manufacturers, GE Vernova, said it would not announce the kind of turbine Invenergy planned to use in the Leading Light Project, according to the filing with the utilities board.
A turbine made by manufacturer Vestas was deemed unsuitable for the project, and the lone remaining manufacturer, Siemens Gamesa Renewable Energy, told Invenergy in June that it was substantially increasing the cost of its turbine offering, Invenergy said.
That left the project without a turbine supplier.
“The stay enables continued discussions with the BPU and supply chain partners regarding the industry-wide market shifts,” Invenergy said in a statement. “We will continue to advance project development activities during this time.”
Christine Guhl-Sadovy, president of the utilities board, said the delay will help the project move forward.
“We are committed in New Jersey to our offshore wind goals,” she said. “This action will allow Invenergy to find a suitable wind turbine supplier. We look forward to delivering on the project that will help grow our clean energy workforce and contribute to clean energy generation for the state.”
The delay was the latest setback for offshore wind in New Jersey. The industry is advancing in fits and starts along the U.S. East Coast.

ZK-BPU [CAC CA-28 Ceres B] on display at MoTaT.
New to CAC as the demonstrator for the type (msn CA-28-4) in 195x it was given the c/r VH-CED and remained with them until 1959.
It was purchased by Aerial Farming (NZ) Ltd of Palmerston North and given the c/r ZK-BPU. According to KiwiFlyer Magazine, it was the first Ceres to be imported here.
It was sold to James Aviation Ltd and on 13/02/1970 it was damaged at a rural airstrip whose location is disputed*.
As a result, it was donated to MoTaT in 'as is' condition before being lovingly restored.
It wears James Aviation livery, and during its tenure with James Aviation, it was modified to a Ceres C.
The CAC CA-28 Ceres is a modified version of the Wirraway, which was derived from the North American NA-74 and makes it a distant cousin of the Texan/Harvard/SNJ.
*The WONZ forum gives it as being damaged at Korima, another website gives it as Tokorimu. Neither of these two places seems to exist however.

2. Phân loại máy đầm bàn phổ biến

Why I’m Quitting Buy-to-let Property Market
The latest episode of the Charles Kelly Money Tips Podcast he explores the truth behind the buy-to-let market and exactly why he is getting out of buy-to-let after 30 years. Please like and subscribe - https://www.youtube.com/@charleskellymoneytipspodca9121
Brief history of the buy to Let market
Watch video - https://youtu.be/Vy6NTf38uR8
My story of finding a rental property before BTL and pre-ASTs - It was worse than now.
No council house building since the 1970s and the introduction of right to buy The BTL model has worked well since the 1990’s. Properties were relatively cheap Returns were good, even with higher mortgage rates With higher interest rates so you could just about break-even, but enjoy fast capital growth
Now the government thinks the pendulum swung too far in favour of landlords. Tenants are unhappy about high rents and insecurity. But is that the fault of landlords or a symptom of 50 years of short-term thinking government policy?
The buy-to-let boom has led to a massive transfer of wealth into property, as well as the banks, and it seems the ‘powers that be’ want to apply the brakes with legislation and taxes,
We are now living in a new socialist regime after 30 years of relatively business friendly government, which includes the Blair labour government.
My personal experience 30 years dealing with tenants - nothing against tenants, I just haven’t got the patience for it anymore! New threats from various BPU’s (business prevention units) Lack of social housing being built for 50 years Mass immigration from all governments since the Blair years leading to an unprecedented population explosion Swinging from unrestrictive to tighter lending Planning hold-ups leading to housing shortage Anti-landlord policy starting with Conservative Chancellor George Osbourne and his Section 24 landlord tax Renters rights bill, which was born out of a conservative policy End of section 21 no fault of evictions and a ban on so-called “back door” evictions Open end of tenancies – how is that going to work in practice? New minimum housing standards and more red tape - many councils and large housing associations would fail these standards but only private landlords will be hit Ban on Advanced rent payments, often used where tenants fail referencing or are from overseas. Even more rights for tenants Less security for property owners Ban “discrimination” Right to request adaptation of Properties in the case of disabilities Restrictions on rent increases Rent repayment orders More powers for local councils to sanction landlords New digital Landlord database, but no rouge tenant database County court backlogs, meaning that enforced evictions will take up to a year
Renters rights was mentioned in parliament recently during PM’s questions after a labour MP raised the point that tenants were being priced out by landlords.
Prime Minister Sir Keir Starmer said that his new renter’s rights bill will help 11 million tenants.
He said they will end no fault of action something which the Conservatives had failed to do. .
Landlords could be obliged to take pets and tenants on benefits
Over the past year, only 6.6% of room-offered ads on SpareRoom explicitly welcomed pets, while a striking 93.4% did not.
One third of people in the UK have pets and 29% own a cat.
On a Spare room survey 93% of landlords display that they are unwilling to accept pets, this will be banned under the future law.
If a tenant wants to keep a pet at home, landlords will not be able to unreasonably withhold their consent.
If a tenant feels you’ve made an unfair decision they can challenge it by taking their complaint to the Private Rented Sector Ombudsman or even to court.
Falling returns
Soaring house prices means it’s difficult to get a positive yield on straightforward buy-to-let property Landlords have turned to HMO strategies, but local authorities are introducing more article 4 areas. The yields on properties in London and the Southeast have been driven down by high prices.
Landlords are increasingly buying in the Midlands and the north of England, but who wants to drive 300 miles to find and manage property?
Many have adapted and move into furnished Holiday lettings in order to avoid section 24 and the end of section 21 notices, but now the BPU are heading them off at the pass!
Tax changes abolishing the advantages of furnished holiday Lettings , brought in by Jeremy “Hunt” the left leaning former Chancellor under the last ‘high tax’ conservative government.
I know some landlord I’ve spoken to are happy to stay in the market and feel that they can adapt to the new laws. That’s fine there’s still a profit (sorry if that’s a dirty word, but without profit there is no service) to be made and in a long-term it’s still a good investment, but not for me and thousands of other landlords anymore. As the TV Dragons say, I’m out!
Am I quitting property altogether? No!
Property is still a good long-term investment and will survive the idiots that run the country downwards because the markets and demand will prevail.
Despite warnings of our demise, the UK will also survive the fools in power. See other videos:

In an astonishing attack on private enterprise, right wing Farage claimed that HMOs are not only damaging communities but are increasingly being used to house illegal migrants and asylum seekers, often at the taxpayer’s expense. Watch video - https://youtu.be/NKaPZj-APgw
Better property strategies are needed.

In Telangana's biggest Benami Act attachment, educational firm’s Rs 162 crore shares under income tax lens
The benami prohibition unit (BPU) of the income tax (I-T) investigation department in Hyderabad has provisionally attached shares worth Rs 162 crore, belonging to a company running an educational institution.
This is the largest attachment made under the Benami Transactions (Prohibition) Act in the Telugu states since the Act came into force in 2016. On March 20, the BPU issued a public notice regarding the provisional attachment of 16.2 crore shares (each valued at Rs 10) of Marredpally-based Calken Educational Services Private Limited. These shares are held by Botswana-based NRIs – Manhar Mooney, Gaurang Manhar Mooney and Dina Gaurang Mooney. According to the BPU, these shares are considered benami properties. The BPU has formally communicated with the Registrar of Companies, instructing them not to allow any transfer of the said shares until further notice.
The beneficial owners of these shares are identified as AM Emanuel, Ashish LW Emanuel, and Niharika Philomena Emanuel Lawrence. It is alleged that the Botswana-based NRIs hold the shares for the direct or indirect benefit of the Emanuel family.
The case involves the sale, transfer, and restructuring of immovable properties located in Bowenpally and Keesara, along with the infusion of share capital into Calken Ltd and the movement of substantial funds across multiple entities, which points to a benami arrangement.
Two key immovable properties – approximately 5.6 acres in Bowenpally and 3.7 acres in Keesara – have been owned by the Emanuel family for over three decades. They were leased to St Louis Educational Society, run by AM Emanuel and his family, which operates the St Andrew's group of schools using these properties for educational purposes.
The investigation revealed that although Manhar, Gaurang Manhar, and Dina Gaurang appeared as legal owners of shares in Oaktree Infra Developers Private Ltd and Calken Ltd, they had no actual authority or financial control.
Through a series of structured transactions – including the sale of immovable property, share value appreciation, and reinvestment into linked entities – the beneficial ownership remained with the Emanuel family, BPU alleged.
The BPU stated that this complex structuring appeared deliberate and designed to conceal the true nature of ownership in order to avoid capital gains tax liability. Under Section 2(9) of the Prohibition of Benami Property Transactions Act, a benami transaction occurs when a property is held by one person, but the consideration is paid by another for the latter's direct or indirect benefit.
The group's website clearly identifies Calken as a group company. Oaktree Infra authorised P Janakinath Sharma to execute the transactions and appointed him as a director. However, Janakinath received his salary from various entities linked to the beneficial owners.
In his social media profile, Janakinath declares himself as manager of accounts at St Andrew's Educational Services Private Ltd. A spokesperson for Calken Educational Services said, "The income tax department had earlier issued notices seeking information on our business activities over the past seven years, to which we duly responded. Subsequently, a show cause notice was issued on Feb 4, 2025, and we submitted a detailed response addressing all allegations.
However, without giving due consideration to our submissions, an order has now been issued, communicating the provisional attachment of the shares. This attachment has not been approved by the adjudicating authority in Chennai, whose approval is mandatory. Until such approval is granted, the attachment is neither binding nor effective. We are reviewing the order and will follow due legal process to present our case before the authority."
