Brain Detectives is back!

CRAE Events

Children aged between 6 and 11 years

Children will hear a story of a mystery that the Brain Detectives team need their help to solve. As part of this story children play games and complete activities that teach them a little about what different parts of the human brain can do; information they will need to solve the mystery! As well as these fun and engaging activities children will take part in some research that can help us learn about how children see and think about the world around them. All of the research activities are presented as fun and age-appropriate games that are tied into the overall mystery being solved.

Adolescents and young adults aged between 12 and 18 years,

We will also be running more advanced sessions for teenagers aged between 12 and 18 years of age who would like to learn some more about scientific research and meet some university researchers.

These sessions will involve some demonstrations of some of the most famous research findings that help us to understand what the human brain can and can’t do. Participants will need to deploy what they have learned about the brain to complete the task. In the course of the session, they will participate in research projects that are currently on-going at the UCL Institute of Education. Each of the researchers will be happy to explain their research and how it aims to help understand how people see and think about the world around them a little better.

All of our Brain Detectives receive a goodie bag and their very own Brain Detectives t-shirt after taking part. Parents are asked to complete some background questionnaires about their children. We cover any reasonable travel expenses for parents and children who are travelling within Greater London so be sure to keep all your receipts! Attendance is completely free but spaces are limited and filling fast so be sure to book a space.
