This Chocolate Duchesse Cherry was an aromatic mix of cherry & chocolate (as one might guess) draped like a thick mist over and descending into the base Duchesse with its sharp acetic/lactic vinous tartness, sweet toasted caramels, and bitter dusty woody tannins. Delicious, and great paired with some artisanal Belgian pralines, but I can’t help - I prefer a simple Duchesse. Yesterday I tasted a couple fruity blonds, today an herbal blond Brice from Grain d'Orge and a vintage cardboard Barbe Rufa from Verhaeghe... I liked all those beers, even the vintage - after all it was a vintage, yet I still needed something undescribed. I had an itch for more, a craving unsatisfied. And then I remembered the stashed BD More Anger bottle and its dik donker bodemke in the cellar fridge...
