on the hikoyami brain train i've been having recently..... honestly, ouye probably holds vague memories of his life as hikoyami, but they come and go as random thoughts or dreams. he believes they're just delusions or a result of a collective unconscious, yet the frequency at which they occur...... seems a little uncanny, does it not?

brainstorming ideas for bionicle rewrite (pls keep in mind I'm just having fun, i do not know all the lore and some parts of it are confusing, and i feel they could be changed to be more understandable especially to new fans). rambling ahead

keep Makuta as more of an abstract concept like in mnog-"you can't kill me, for i am nothing." it is the personification of destruction and the opposition of the 3 virtues. it may be a force with arguable levels of consciousness that "infects" matorans, making them do bad things. The concept could be renamed something shorter.

may or may not keep "the Makuta" as a group of beings. they are confusing to me and feel unnecessary. it could be a term used to refer to people affected by the abstract force of makuta

Teridax is a being affected by the force of makuta. he becomes obsessed with power and resentful of Mata Nui for abandoning his people. give him better MOTIVES

let Takanuva have a more active role in the lore. give more purpose to his timeline-jumping journey or do not include it at all, instead being infected by darkness and learning about the balance between good and evil while journeying with his friends

let Takanuva use his new understanding of the balance of good and evil in everyone to confront Teridax and possibly even free him from the influence of makuta (be friends now, kubo and the two strings style)

completely revamp the red star or remove it entirely. it needs a specific purpose and set of powers, preferably not raising people from the dead because that makes everyone's sacrifices in the series feel less important.

a new idea needs to be devised for how Jaller is revived after his sacrifice. one idea is that the fusion of Takua and Teridax's masks allowed for a balance that briefly let them revive a matoran who had just died. another is that some force can revive Jaller and Takanuva when their masks are placed alongside Hahli because they represent the 3 virtues and their destinies are not complete yet. (or hahli also dies somehow and all 3 sacrifices makes them revive together)

Toa Likahn was the most loyal to Turaga Dume and never questioned him, but he learned that those in power you trust can become corrupt. Dume might be affected by the concept of makuta rather than Teridax just... posing as him?

Artakha was the first mask maker and made most of the legendary masks, possibly even built matorans for a time. he was one of if not the first being in the matoran universe. he may have a limited lifespan but gave his knowledge to his apprentices Akimu and Karzahni, who were meant to work together to fix matorans. rather than just being kinda lousy at his job, Karzahni was abandoned by Akimu (who might have had something important going on) and became an angry being who could not fix the matorans on his own.

also in general just tweak names to avoid cultural appropriation, as well as to separate it from existing gens.
