ouye is overly cautious about getting hurt because he's a paranoid person in general, but i believe it's primarily fueled by the fact that he doesn't want his brother to feel pain as well. they quite literally have the same soul, which makes their pain intrinsically linked. ouye avoids trying to get hurt not because he has a sense of self - preservation , but because he wouldn't want to put his brother through any sort of pain.
