Name analysis: Brooklyn Praise Duggar
Apologies for the delay - Tumblr wouldn't let me post this for ages - but here is my name analysis for Kendra and Joe Duggar's newest addition who arrived on the 19 February 2021 joining older siblings Garrett David (b. 2018) and Addison Renee (b. 2019). In my name predictions for this baby I predicted Brooklyn! But Praise was surprising, I thought they'd go with a family name. Perhaps future female Duggar-Caldwells will have virtue/Christian word middle names too. We all know we won't really have to wait too long to find out.
Brooklyn is of course the name of one of New York City's boroughs named after the Dutch village of Breuckelen, meaning 'marshland'. The Dutch Breuckelen has been around since at least the 10th century and the American Breuckelen was founded in 1646. It went through many spelling changes before it became Brooklyn including Brucklyn, Brockland, and Brookline.
Despite perhaps the most famous bearer of this name being David and Victoria Beckham's eldest son, Brooklyn Joseph (b. 1999), Brooklyn has never been in the US top 1000 for boys. In the UK however, it came it at #469 in 2019. In the US, it first entered the charts for girls names in 1990 coming in at #912 and peaked at #21 in 2011. It has since fallen a smidge and sits at #52 in 2019. Interestingly, in the UK top 1000 it sat at #592 for girls in 2019. I find it surprising that Brooklyn is more popular for boys than girls in the UK and yet in the US it is crazy popular for girls but has never even been in the top 1000 for boys.
Praise is obviously a super Christian 'word name'. It has never been in the US top 1000. Some fundies with the name Praise include: Praise Helferich soon-to-be Bontrager (b. 1995) and Joanna Praise Wissmann, daughter of Josiah and Abi Lynn (Rehm) Wissmann (b. 2010).

The Battle of Brooklyn
On August 27th, 1776 the first major battle of the revolutionary war took place in Brooklyn. This battle is called the battle or Brooklyn (or Long Island). It ended with a British victory, allowing them control over New York harbor & New York City, & essentially allowed them to cut the colonies in half.
Brooklyn was more like 6 towns at the time (Gravesend, Breuckelen, Nieuw Amersfoort, Midwout, Nieuw Utrecht, & Boswijck). These six towns are now neighborhoods with the exception of Nieuw Utrecht. Brooklyn, like the other boroughs, wasn’t always just a borough. Brooklyn was a city on its own, but at the time of the revolution , it didn’t really exist as a city.
Anyways I drew Tim, who was like physically 7 at the time. New York, in general, wasn’t exactly the hotbed of patriot activity. They did have more Patriots than Loyalists, but still New York was a stronghold for the British since it had more Loyalists. But at the beginning of the war, most people were a bit more neutral. This would change with the Great Fire of 1776.
As for my personal thoughts about the boroughs, Staten Island was a mega Loyalist, but the others didn’t really want to get involved initially.

It consists of stylized rhythmic music (usually built around drum beats) that commonly accompanies rapping, a rhythmic and rhyming speech that is chanted. It developed as part of hip hop culture, a subculture defined by four key stylistic elements: MCing/rapping, DJing/scratching with turntables, break dancing, and graffiti writing.” #Wiki : : : Malcolm from #Breuckelen @compass 😉🏠🤎 License Associate #RealEstate #Broker🗽#Buying #Selling #Leasing #Investing #USMCVet #PrattGrad #KappaMan Τελειωοις (at New York City, N.Y.) https://www.instagram.com/p/CkTLQHZO03m/?igshid=NGJjMDIxMWI=
