heyy everyone,

i'm looking for this video (genuinely for research purposes)

(embarrassed at my RPF past obviously, i never even use this blog anymore)

it seems to no longer be on the internet, but it's the source of this gif

everyone is asked their thoughts on queen and they all go "nah. ask taylor" and dave calls him a walking queen encyclopedia. i have access to other videos where he talks about his first show and catching the roses, but it would be really great to get my hands on this one since brian may also refers to his stannery as "encyclopedic"

It is one of the five nominees in the “Outstanding Sound Mixing For A Variety Series Or Special” category. Directed by Joel Gallen and produced by Emer Patten for EP-PIC Films & Creative, the concert was captured live on September 3, 2022 at Wembley Stadium in London.

The show is up against U2’s Bono & The Edge: A Sort Of Homecoming With Dave Letterman, Elton John Live: Farewell From Dodger Stadium, The 65th Annual Grammy Awards and Saturday Night Live.

Recorded for the 1975 album, “Wish You Were Here”, Pink Floyd released one of the most scathing songs about the music industry you’ll ever hear. (”Spirit of Radio” by Rush is a pretty damning song, too.)

After their success of their 1973 album, “The Dark Side of the Moon”* I can only imagine the yes-men and the studio suits who only saw dollar signs. 

We're just knocked out, we heard about the sell-out You gotta get an album out, you owe it to the people We're so happy we can hardly count

The irony of this song? Neither Roger Waters nor Dave Gilmour sang it. They got English folk/rock singer Roy Harper to sing it. (Only 2 other songs ever had a singer from outside the band, in the history of Pink Floyd’s discography.) Of course, the studio either didn’t know or didn’t care.

The band is just fantastic, that is really what I think Oh, by the way, which one's Pink?

They would follow up the album 2 years later with a poorly received “Animals”, but came back with a vengeance n 1979 by releasing “The Wall”.

Foo Fighters (featuring Brian May as well as Taylor Hawkins on vocals) do a pretty damn good cover, too.

(*Dark Side of the Moon has been on Billboard Top 200 Albums for 964 weeks, the most of any album, beating the next one on the list -Bob Marley’s immaculate “Legend” by 200 weeks.)

I love the video for this, because it’s clear no one is playing or singing the song; it’s all pretend, just enough to make the record company think it’s fine-
