CableScan® records the location #cablestayinspection of abnormalities along the cable-stay so follow-up maintenance and further reviews can be performed. In addition the actual length on the cable as well as the distance on the ground to the spot directly under any abnormality is recorded so there is instant access to the correct location for quick repairs. CableScan® can also record the length and depth of any cracks along a cable.

Non destructive #bridgeinspectionservices testing (NDT), Non Destructive Evaluation (NDE) encompass a testing process whereby various materials, components or assemblies are tested for  #infrastructureinspectionservices discontinuities, or differences in characteristics without destroying the serviceability (useability) of the part or process.  #posttensionedbridgeconstruction In other words, when the testing company is done with their testing, the part
or component is not damaged and can still be used. Some common uses of NDT are for manufacturers to test weldings or for cracks in metal or thickness and consistency in metal manufacturing. The automobile industry uses non destructive testing to test tolerances in ball bearings, crank shafts and other components under stress. The medical industry has probably seen the most advancement through the use of this technology. Innovations in the field of nondestructive testing have had a profound impact on medical imaging, Just think of the x-ray and MRI including echocardiography, medical ultrasonography, and digital radiography.
According to Wikipedia, the most common Nondestructive testing (NDT) methods include “ultrasonic, magnetic-particle, liquid penetrant, radiographic, remote visual inspection (RVI), eddy-current testing, and low coherence interferometry. NDT is commonly used in forensic engineering, mechanical engineering, petroleum engineering, electrical engineering, civil engineering, systems engineering, aeronautical engineering, medicine, and art. In the world of infrastructure testing nondestructive testing is in fact the deployment of todays technology to examine todays infrastructure.

IPC’s concrete and bridge crack inspection system allows for the mapping of the length, width and position of  #posttensionedbridgeconstruction cracks on concrete structures. X, Y and Z axis.
By monitoring the progression of the cracks in concrete, we can see the progression  #ConcreteCrackinspections of deterioration in concrete and address areas of concern early. Making repairs to these areas of concern will result in prolonging the assets life, saving money and helping to protect the public safety.
IPC’s condition assessment reports offer a complete mapping of a concrete bridge  #bridgeinspectionservices bridge deck or concrete structure. Year over year comparisons of bridge crack progression give a detailed 2D and 3D mapping of those cracks and progression over time to help manage repairs. #infrastructureinspectionservices

IPC’s bridge crack #parkinggarageinspections2 inspection system can locate hairline cracks on any concrete structure and record the exact location, length and width of the crack to be monitored. Once a crack map is created it can be compared against results from a follow up inspection. The comparative results will show the increase in deterioration and better help in the assessment of the structure and long term asset management. These inspections can be done from a distance without lane closures or boom trucks.

Bridge structures are traditionally #bridgeinspections inspected visually for cracks and damage due to deterioration. Through such traditional practices, bridge inspectors visually inspect a bridge, record cracks and damage, take pictures and give the bridge a health rating. Visual inspections cannot assess the internal integrity of these structures, but only what is visible to the naked eye. By the time deterioration becomes visually apparent to the inspector, the damage to the structure is often severe.

IPC’s inspection process is #bridgeinspections able to look inside a bridge’s concrete deck and analyse the deck’s steel reinforcement. The strength of a deck is determined by the pattern and size of its rebar. The images below were taken from an inspection of an old bridge deck where the original construction plans were lost. The owner did not know the rebar patterns of the deck and was guessing as to its configuration. As the deck aged and began losing it ability to carry its intended loads the bridge owner need to know the rebar pattern so that a more accurate load rating could be performed. The following are images from bridge deck:

Bridge inspections and box girder #wouldyouliketoknowifthereiscorrosioninthesteelofyourexternaltendons roadways contain millions of miles of post tension tendons. These tendons can corrode for fail over time if not inspected regularly. IPC’s Post Tension Tendon Inspection service is comprised of 2 patented devices.

IPC’s (HMLP) High Mast Light Pole Inspection Service takes high definition video of High Mast Light Poles and their components. This allows an inspector from the comfort of his office to visually see any imperfections in the pole, seams and luminaries. IPC retains a history of the inspections allowing a comparison with each subsequent inspection cycle to determine rates of deterioration over time as well as reporting rust, cracking or areas that may need immediate attention.

Both TendonScan® units utilizes #tendonscantm proprietary patented leading edge non-destructive testing (NDT) technology. The nondestructive testing NDT method used is based on  RF an advancement over the outdated Electrical Capacitance  (ECT).  RF and Magnetic Flux Leakage  are the industry’s newest NDT technologies that allows our inspectors to perform MRI like inspections of external bridge tendons.

Bridge and Concrete cracks #concretecrackinspections are a reflection of the deterioration of concrete structures. Crack propagation leads to water intrusion and further corrosion of the rebar (steel bars) that reinforce the bridge as well as creating a shifting of the compacted gravel, creation of voids and the overall safety of the structure. By regular inspections using IPCs concrete crack inspection service, bridge inspections, concrete, steel and bridge inspections can:

TendonScan®  is a bridgeinspectionservices comprehensive post tension tendon inspection service that utilizes the latest in non destructive evaluation (NDE) and nondestructive testing (NDT) technologies to locate and assess voids, water, bleeding grout (grout not cured) as well as section loss (loss of metallic area) and corrosion in external tendons of segmental structures.
We have two separate patented infrastructureinspectionservices portable units, one that utilizes RF an advancement in ECT Electrical Capacitance  Imaging  which  locates air, water and bleeding grout and another that utilizes Magnetic Flux Leakage to detect corrosion and locate section loss within a post tension tendon.
A proprietary tendon condition assessment report is generated identifying locations and sizes of any discontinuities. posttensionedbridgeconstruction
TendonScan® is IPC’s term that encompasses both of these services. The RF unit is a light weight,  battery operated system that couples and travels along a tendon performing a MRI like inspection of the material within the tendon. The inspector stands at the control station located on a wheeled cart and moves along with the sensor. The sensor uses wireless connectivity to transmit the MRI like data to the control station where the inspector performs real-time assessments of the discontinuities within the tendon.
