Horrifying moment woman drags cat down busy street with leash while eating KFC

A viral video of a KFC customer dragging her cat across a road with a leash has caused outrage online.

The pet owner, who was seen wearing headphones and a tracksuit, was seen leaving the fast-food restaurant at Brentford Square, Forest Hill, in Victoria, Australia with her grey and white feline in the rain.

Passengers in the car across the street filmed her as they were hysterically laughing when the woman dragged the helpless animal along the tarmac.

But not everyone found it funny as the woman’s behaviour during the incident was branded an act of animal cruelty by viewers on Twitter.

One person tweeted: “People in the car laughing are right up there with the b***h dragging the cat.”

Another added: “How do you sit there and laugh at that?”

A third wrote: “I don’t see anything remotely funny. I’m sure she’ll be identified in no time.”

While a fourth said: “How do you sit there and laugh at that sh*t?”

The unknown cat owner was declared a ‘putrid slob’ for her treatment of the animal by another commenter on the social media site.

Investigations are now underway from the RSPCA after the clip was brought to their attention by Mail Online on Wednesday, the news site claims.

However, the charity released a statement explaining that the cat would be in distress from the incident which was avoidable.

It read: “The treatment of the cat in the footage would be expected to cause it profound distress which could have been avoided in a number of ways.”

But the animal welfare organisation insists the leash wasn’t a problem as it is legal and in many cases preferred to walk a cat on a leash as they have a tendency to prey on native birds if they’re allowed to roam.

The RSPCA adds: “If you do decide to walk your cat on a leash, it is crucial that you attach this to a harness rather than a collar. Cats can easily slip out of collars or may choke if they escape and become entangled.”
