I remember hemming curtains for this shot. Curtains are always a stylist's nightmare because there are a lot of times that they have to be constructed from scratch. Custom drapery is an art and if you don't do it everyday, it can be a struggle. // The seating was easy. It all came from @bakerfurniture and what a dream to work with them. The reason this set and editorial came together was to prove that vinyl windows could be shown in a beautiful manner. Luckily, I was able to shoot the set twice. Once for product representation and once for the editorial which are the shots featured here. Swipe to see the overall shot. // Anything can look better with the right elements. And not everything has to be expensive to look aspirational. So many times the budget is wasted on the wrong elements. The heavier trim and vertical shiplap created a beautiful space that would add value to any home. // Space is an interesting creative element. It's odd when something you designed is now discontinued. This beautiful #Samsara #Tamaki wallcovering is no longer. @Romo_fabrics it was an era. // There was a time when wallcovering was everything. We searched high and low all over the world to pull patterns no one had ever seen before. Romo was one of my go to's for fabric and wallcovering. I had a direct account because I was buying so much from them. // And then came the black and white trend and everything with any color or history was relegated further into the past. It's getting to the end of the season and I'm starting to eye my planters to watch for signs of frost. I know - it's crazy,but we already had two nights where we had to cover our plants. Frost just settles down like a blanket and nips at the edges of leaves killing them into brown curls. I used sheets and some of my father's jackets going to donation to cover as much as I could. // Every year, we start to pull all of our boating and sports equipment back into our garage for the season. This shot reminds me so much of the decades of lake living. Vintage boat cushions, Victorian porch screen doors, old oars and paddles. My brother always brought his boat out late and took it out too early so the season feels shorter than it already is here in the North. I will savor every warm day from now until mid October when our first hard freeze will inevitably happen. // Old and new. I've been a collector all my life. Spaces and things speak to me. I wonder and imagine where they've been and what has happened around them. I can walk through any house and feel all sorts of emotion. This porch has been around since the late 1880s where generations have gathered.
