The reason this set and editorial came together was to prove that vinyl windows could be shown in a beautiful manner. Luckily, I was able to shoot the set twice. Once for product representation and once for the editorial which are the shots featured here. Swipe to see the overall shot. // Anything can look better with the right elements. And not everything has to be expensive to look aspirational. So many times the budget is wasted on the wrong elements. The heavier trim and vertical shiplap created a beautiful space that would add value to any home. // Space is an interesting creative element. ⠀ How do you create a healing environment? 🌴⠀ ⠀ I delight my senses choosing smells that calm me. ⠀ I decorate my space with flowers.⠀ I choose colors that excite me. ⠀ I display my art for more inspiration.⠀ I take advantage of the natural light and the landscape surrounding me. Sometimes I play music, most of times I don’t. The silence helps me find my own pace and my own thoughts, but it’s not often that I get to hear the perfectly orchestrated sounds of the wild as the background music to inspire me while I create. Working on these small 8 x 8s. They feel more like objects, using all sides. As I completed the first go round on them I’m reminded to pause and consider quiescence. In biology quiescence is a dormant state of a living cell. But in us and in our work quiescence can create space, a pause. Instead of plowing through I pause and allow these small works to dictate what happens next! This time of year as the days get shorter always reminds me of a location shoot in Chicago. We scouted several locations and this one happened on a porch in historic Oak Park. // It was dark because this porch was completely covered in a Prairie style home built at the end of the 1800s.
