welp just dropped two games in a row. what games and why
Back to the Future The Game The Remaster: whats up with telltale and bad remasters like Strong bad PS3 had some bad visual bugs and BttFTG is no better. characters have a lot of slow and stilled movement that make them feel off. had some really annoying control fucks while playing. might go back to it later. “Puzzles” are some the best jokes told by telltale.
Wild Guns RELOADED: its alright, a little too old school in the controls for my liking. if a wizard poofs me three more friends might be more fun.

Spoiler-Free Back to the Future: It’s About Time Review
Well, I never thought I would be reviewing a Telltale game that released before 2012′s The Walking Dead in 2015, yet here we are. Call it a celebration of the movie’s 30 Anniversary, if you will.
I just recently watched the movie series, and figured the Telltale game would make a nice complimentary story to play along with. I had grown attached to the characters, and wanted to see if Telltale could do them justice. Also, it is my first experience with a pre-The Walking Dead Telltale game, so I am interested what the company could produce before I had become such a fan.
So far, it’s still the same great Telltale product I have come to expect, and found myself enjoying the first episode even more than the last movie in the film series.
The style does take some getting used to. The glitchy and unatural animations are a shortcoming, though I suppose it’s jarring to jump from Telltale’s most cinematic, animated games in Tales from the Borderlands, to one that tried to have a similar feel but was hindered by the technology and funding. Thankfully, the eye animation was still very expressive, and is a highlight of the cartoony style.
The dialogue is awesome so far. This is one of the aspects of Telltale games that still makes me reluctant to say Life is Strange or other choice-based point-and-click adventure games are on par with Telltale - because their dialogue is so natural that I’m immediately immersed in the story. While being experienced with their games has made me more skillful in finding illusions of choice - and there are a lot here - it’s enjoyable to be able to interact with other characters at all, with fun choices and responses. The friendship between Doc and Marty is not only very genuine, it’s developed even further.
Voice acting overall is pretty good. I’m impressed they got the original actor for Doc to return to his role, and the impersonator of Marty McFly is so spot on I didn’t even realise it wasn’t Michael J Fox. And surprise surprise, Owen Thomas voice one of the episode’s antagonist - a Tannen, no less. I loved him as Omid, but he has a tendency to play some prick characters. At least he plays them well. There were a few voices that did grate on my nerves, most notably an older woman in the beginning segments, but thankfully she wasn’t there long. I have a feeling she’ll make another appearance though.
There are some mechanics I missed from Telltale’s newer titles - big decisive choices with percentage feedback at the end of the episode and an accessible inventory would have been nice to have. In a game that so heavily uses the inventory feature, I wished it wasn’t so clunky, especially in situations when the inventory item must be used in a limited amount of time. I also always play with notifications on, but here I just had to turn them off as they took up too much of the screen and ruined the immersion when it stayed too long, covering the faces of people I was talking to.
However, the biggest thing I loved about this game is a feature not often found in Telltale’s newer titles: puzzles. Ever since The Walking Dead, I have been starving for more puzzles in Telltale games. The closest I have gotten is the small connect-the-wires segment in Tales from the Borderlands Episode 3, and even that is very painfully straightforward. This was full of puzzles, puzzles I had to actually use hints to solve. There were some pretty new ways of setting puzzles up too, one of my favorites being a fast-paced lab experiment where the procedure is determined by a quick interpretation of empasized conversations happening in the background. I was so thankful for this, and it definitely expanded the gameplay.
The episode ended with me wanting for more, and that’s always a successful first episode. I’m excited to play the rest and see what else it has in store.

Back to the Future: The Game Essay
After about half a month of work, I finished this essay on the plot of the Back to the Future game. I only ended up doing the first episode, but I might do the others later! Thanks to @erik-the-creator-mainblog for letting me use their notes as a source!
Enjoy!

If you consider the cartoon at least a little canon, there is literally no reason for Emmett to have red hair in 1931. So the only explanation is he dyed his hair. In the cartoon there's a flashback (or technically memory) when he was like, 5 years old, he had white?/blonde hair, in 1955 he had blonde hair, so why does he have red hair in 1931?!??! Anywho headcanon time >:]
1. He dyed his hair bc he thought he looked too much like his father when he[his father] was his [Emmett] age
2. (Similar) he could've just wanted to be rebellious, but seems kinda unlikely
3. Doc talked about the anti-german stuff in America, that's why they changed their last name from Von Braun to Brown. And blonde hair can be attributed to German people so he could've done it bc of that.
Personally 3 sounds the most likely, but 1 is more ✨️ interesting ✨️

Hi ok so first of all, is it just me or whenever you think abt the musical songs or they get stuck in your head it's just AAA silly goofy stim time idk another thing, in the BttF game when Marty goes back to stop Doc from marrying Edna, and takes Citizen Valley Doc back w/ Him, CVDoc fucking
c h l o r o f o r m s his younger self and locks him in the bathosphere. THEN Marty threatens to LITERALLY SUFFOCATE EMMETT by stepping on the air vent to the bathosphere. Like bro, chill out ;-; then Marty gets Emmett out and he's like, "Huh, my head hurts its like there wasn't enough oxygen in there, as a matter of fact, how did I get in there?"
Anywho that scene was crazy but besides that aren't the musical songs so silly :D

The BttF discord server got me hooked on making moodboards, so here are the ones I’ve done so far!
Tumblr media
First up is 60s Marty! The art is by the wonderful @daryfromthefuture and they also provided the top left image
Tumblr media
Next, of course, is his matching Dad Doc! The top middle image is both very fitting and a reference to the animated series, and the art was once again done by @daryfromthefuture
Tumblr media
Now a Marty based on the fic me and @daryfromthefuture co-wrote, The Atom, The Scientist, and You. The art is by me this time, though
Tumblr media
Here’s the first look at my 90s Marty redesign! A cute fact about this one is that his lab-coat used to be Doc’s.
Tumblr media
Speaking of Doc, here he is! The dadliest vibes with my 90s design.
Tumblr media
And last but not least 30s Emmett! A fun fact about this one is that the bottom right image is from the version of Frankenstein that inspired him in the original timeline.
Thats all for now but ill almost definitely make more lol
