Okay hii im new to getting ‘properly’ involved in the ml fandom and i just wanted to ask- whats PV? Is it just ‘previous version’ as in the concept are that became the current version? Or was it set up to be completely different to the current ml we have? I skimmed through your tag (GREAT art btw) and saw you mention a pilot, so is the PV just that?

Hello so terminology first-

PV is just promotional video, definition ranges from short animations that are just made for the video to bits of longer finished videos

PV is not in the actual original title just in the popular reupload iirc

On the Japanese blu ray tho they call the PV a "Pilot film" which caused a bit of confusion cuz the original title labeled it as "OAV" (same thing as an OVA) so... was this a different video?? Turns out no it was the same video so rip

Thanks to early fandom info scarcity (and I mean early fandom info scarcity cuz the fandom literally started cuz they accidentally leaked the PV and there were no other promotional materials for anyone to go off and a pretty big fandom immediately spawned out of it) basically everything pre 3D was lumped under the label "PV" and even tho we now have a lot more info to make coherent eras it's easier to continue to treat it as a pile of legos you can build into anything you want.
