It makes sense btw to make your little mart a place people like to congregate because by the time they've spent an hour bullshitting or w/e you'll have sold them two or three sodas, a snack, and maybe some scratchers and a pack of smokes.

Most people don't constantly make trips every time they need something while they're out, once is usually the upper limit people have. That's just one drink and maybe a snack. Missed opportunity, plus encouraging social behavior is good and helps create a healthy community. The way to fight Consumer Sickness and the CVSisation of mainstreet is literally the social ethnic mart, and is way more normal than what Americans typically do today.
