It’s amazing that in the 100 or so years this home has stood in Greenpoint there’s never been an exterior entry to the backyard from the first floor; the residents were always forced to go into the cellar and exit through a hatch. In NYC a backyard like this is to be envied. Eighty years of stories, laughter, debate, fury, and layer upon layer of paint stripped away to reveal the original wood hidden away. I could have bought a new door that looked similar in style and painted it to blend in, but why interrupt such a great story or replace such a well crafted door? Swipe Left 👈🏻: First pic is the set of @marvinwindows French Doors we installed last August completed with exterior stucco, #woodandsteel deck, and Ipe decking and handrails! The next two pics are of the custom-sized Marvin Integrity Door complete with finished stucco, custom steel stairs, Ipe stair-treads, and #moroccantile in the #solarium. @4thstatellc raised this project to a higher level with their fabrication and installation work. • @kuikenbrothers has been my source for almost everything on this project. @mazzone_ace provided all finishing supplies. • Anytime a client wants to collaborate for a second time and invited you into their home it’s an amazing feeling of gratitude! Full disclosure: this was our second attempt at staining the barface and partition wall. It’s not because I’m a perfectionist or uncompromising, it just looked terrible. It had to be redone so I started sanding it back and spent hours with an ETS 150 in hand moving from 80 up to 220 grit. @mikeyakins joined the team and also put hands to sander and got us back to a fresh start. Mike has quickly proved indispensable with a deft touch on the sander and brush. Welcome to team @precision_innovations Mike! Very pleased with the quality of the oak and T&G from @kuikenbrothers throughout the space - it’s a joy to work with materials, which are consistent in quality. Next up on @eater_ny list is @interboronyc. In stark contrast to our other projects which carried through from demolition all the way through to final inspection the amazing team @interboronyc built their brewery themselves with the inimitable Laura as the PM! So much respect! Almost a year after opening Laura called us to come in to revamp their taproom and give it a facelift before their 1st anniversary bash. By now you realize we put Oak and Hot-rolled steel everywhere... I was delighted at the opportunity to work with Laura, because she’s such a positive influence. While were worked on @grimmales for nearly a year Laura was a cheerleader in the background - she even loaned me her forklift no questions asked during a highly questionable event involving a 16’ long Glycol Chiller. You have my loyalty for life Laura ✊🏻. This is one of the things I love about the community of brewers in Brooklyn - they have a *together we all rise* community mentality! Next up on @eater_ny list is @grimmales . The construction of this brewery and taproom was an incredibly challenging and rewarding journey with Joe and Lauren over the almost two years from draft plans to find completed space. I’m so much the better for being able to collaborate with them. I was so excited for everyone to see and experience this space on opening night and raise glass of some of the finest craft beer ever produced! If not for the incredible efforts and craft of the team at @agilestainless we would have completed a very expensive very empty building! We couldn’t have succeeded without them scaling the summit! Installing steel lintels in a twelve-inch thick brick wall for a new windows and a door in #Greenpoint #Brooklyn required me to drill 24 holes through 5/16 thick steel.
