Magical free sky power I just love solar. As I've said numerous times before, the grid isn't real stable where I live. So for a long time all I had was my backup batteries in the basement that went to several outlets that were installed only for backup. Now it's solar. It's a closed system and can't harm utility workers because it's not hooked to the power grid at all. This means that during an outage I have light, interwebs, and I can charge my devices. I can run a fan. I can even watch TV for a while if I really need to. Although that's a big drain on the batteries so I rarely do. TV isn't high on my priority list at the best of times. During an extended outage I could even keep my fridge cold, with an extension cord of course. We will be installing another outlet for that but one step at a time. Ya know? I love redundant systems, probably thanks to my computer background. Now when the power goes out it's no big deal. That gives me less to worry about and that's always a good thing. I definitely see more solar in my future.
