#but also. i ended up with TOO warm roots and TOO ashy lengths (my lengths are just TOO platinum they have no gold base left which is BAD

Hair toning notes for myself:
Roots too gold/warm (7N dye but turned out warm): purple conditioner on just roots for half hour.
Lengths too ashy (platinum blonde with ZERO gold left, cold greyish tint): peach lime crime mixed with conditioner (to a more pastel peach color), left on half hour. Some pieces turn a bit peach, but the overall effect is a neutral/creamy platinum white blonde hair. So it tones the ash color out. Lime crime sushi tint is IDEAL for this, but i couldn’t find any of that color on short notice so I lightened the Peach lime crime with conditioner. (I find lime crime brand pinks in particular are good for toning out blue/green tones from hair, my guess is lime crime uses some gold and orange in the pink formulas, because so far its the only thing i’ve found that can add GOLD tones back into hair after over-toning into an ash color. Colorista conditioners suck for this... I’ve tried several and the blonde/gold ones actually add more ash tones resulting in swamp green, the peach one kind of works but it’s VERY strong and true to color so i was concerned about staining and how long it may take to fade from peach back to golden blonde... in contrast to lime crime peach, which generally fades to a golden blonde in 1 month if pastel and in 2 months if put on at full intensity vibrant peach)
how to do shadow roots (aka an ombre from root application to lighter color on lengths with no hard line): Take hair clips, clip up top layers of hair and start on the lower section (the dye will be left on it longer so the color will be darker). mix root color. use hairdye application brush and brush/tap onto roots as one normally puts on hair dye (1-2 inches or wherever you want dark color to end).Take thin toothed comb, and comb the applied color down slightly another 1-2 inches (where you want the blurred color merge to be). then sweep the comb upward as you pull it out where you want color merge to end (so comb down straight then pull it out in a sweep-up motion where you want color to end). Move onto the next layer, upward until you are done. Watch the ends to make sure they don’t over-absorb color (especially if you have platinum hair ToT) and wash ends out early/asap if they start darkening more than desired (my platinum hair is so porous and mean basically ;-; ). Result: roots will be the color you used, there will be no clear demarcation line. Instead it will look like a balayage with some highlights and lowlights in the color-merge area until it’s all the uncolored hair at the bottom. Options: you can slightly vary how long down your hair you comb the color at each layer, the variation of comb-down-color may make it look less uniform.
Example result:
Top is before (clear demarcation line), Bottom is after (blended line, looks like highlights go "up" and darker color goes "down" more to blend the color merge area)

Natural brown roots to blonde
Tumblr media
How would you describe this look?
We made a balayage ombre for this customer. My favorite thing about it is that it is made with mixed roots and when it grows out it will still be very mixed and easy to care for. I believe that no matter how light / dark blonde it is, it must be ashy or any shade other than orange. This client of mine is spanish. What I recommended is that with her beautiful dark skin tone she doesn't last brighter than a level 8. Anything lighter will be too obvious that it was colored and doesn't look natural.
Any advice for someone considering it?
I would recommend this shade from brown to blonde to many people who go for a more natural look. When cut, the “V” shape fits into the hemmed pieces on the front, creating a natural shape that looks downward and the hair looks longer. While a blunt cut is sharper and doesn't look as soft. We decided to straighten her hair just because it was naturally wavy, and Redken Anti-Snap styling cream was used for the frizzy hair and Olaplex # 6 for moisture and health of the ends.
Golden brown after platinum blonde
Tumblr media
How would you describe this look?
This look is a melted balayage. There is organic hand painting, while also a range of different colors and tones. The soft waves really show the dimension. This client has no layers in her hair because adding layers to this cut would make the color look very different.
Any advice for someone considering it?
This color is perfect for everyone. It has a range of so many tones and is ideal for young girls or busy mothers (which means low maintenance). The growth is seamless, which means you wouldn't have to come in as often.
Brown to dark blonde
Tumblr media
How would you describe this look?
This look is called a balayage highlight. It is suitable for everyone who is looking for a nice summer flirty look. The colors I chose for this customer are warm caramel and cinnamon brown. This look is easy to style. Wet or dry, this look will always be flirty.
Any advice for someone considering it?
Of course, this brown to blonde shade is for everyone who is looking for an easy-care, yet dramatic look. This is suitable for all face shapes and all personalities.
Brown to blonde on curly hair
Tumblr media
How would you describe this look?
The word that describes this hair is the sun. I was inspired in our city, which is a coastal city and has more than 300 days a year. For this visual, I used a mix of hot and cold shades of beige that give it naturalness, creates a hair movement that is burned by the sun itself, and matches the skin tone of the model. For the cut, we used graded layers in 90 to 180 degrees, which results in an organic color movement.
Any advice for someone considering it?
First, consider how much hair care you are doing. This look requires a regular routine of treatment that is pretty wet (I suggest avocado oil or grape oil with a few drops of jojoba oil) and a strong mask of reconstruction and nutrition, alternating. Since the technique keeps the root smooth, it allows retouching for up to 8 months, which benefits the health of the strands.
This brown to blonde shade basically works on all skin types. Note the balance between warm and cold tones, which have to be adjusted according to the skin tone of the model.
Ash brown to blonde
Tumblr media
A cool ash blonde to brown ombre made from popular colors. Medium waves really make it a multidimensional one.
How would you describe this look?
I am obsessed with the gentle depth in the crown of this baby illuminated ombré. The angry curtain bangs show the focused lightness around her face and give her this beautiful glowing halo effect!
Any advice for someone considering it?
For the girl who wants to spend more time twirling her hair than wrapping it in a bun, this color asks to be shown with a beach wave. If you want a dramatic change but aren't interested in a monthly subscription to the salon chair, this is the perfect low-maintenance look that will keep you months between brightening touch-ups and hard lines!
Blonde to brown ombre on short hair
Tumblr media
Large curls reinforce the brown to blonde ombre look and give the pine line cut texture and shape. The unevenness of the color technique and the cut make this all the more fun.
How would you describe this look?
This look is a beach inverted bob. My guest here has a lot of hair. Layers and texture are crucial for them so that the cut doesn't look too heavy. We made a partial film for her color and used her natural color as dim light for this dimensional blonde. My favorite thing about this look are the beach waves!
I used my Bioionic 1 inch curling iron to reach these waves and leave the ends. This appointment was particularly special as it was a test drive for their wedding day! We loved the results and I never wanted to style her hair differently!
Any advice for someone considering it?
Keep an eye on your hair structure. This cut can look very different on fine hair, and you may not be able to have the front for so long because it would look too thin. This cut is also not intended for low-maintenance guests, since it has to be redesigned every 5-8 weeks and styled every day. However, a bob is such a classic style that you never have to worry about it going out of style!
I also recommend using dry texture spray for separation and a chunky look. I always think that these waves look best on hair or hair that has a certain grain. Dry texture sprays and sea salt sprays can help achieve this!
Chocolate brown to honey blonde
Tumblr media
Dip-dyed brown to blonde from mahogany locks is a neat trick that anyone can pull off. Simple, but say a lot, try this great combination of colors.
Red-brown to blonde
Tumblr media
A flawless infiltration in contrasting colors creates a depth like no other.
Light brown to blonde ombre on long hair
Tumblr media
Long haired girls are the perfect canvases on different types of color techniques. This brown to blonde did justice to the gradual turn from dark to light color with additional curly curls.
Blonde hair to dark brown
Tumblr media
A reverse ombre has done very tastefully. The blonde and brown stripes seem to compete for the dominant color hair and create a curtain of two-tone majesty.
Brown to light blonde
Tumblr media
A brilliant balayage that is performed with tea. Dark brown to light blonde transition just looks like spilled cream on coffee!
Balayage brown to blonde to medium length hair
Tumblr media
Chop a few layers towards the ends and gently sweep on different shades of brown and blonde. What a view!
Dark brown to blonde ombre
Tumblr media
Wow, what a station wagon! You have black to brown to blonde hair in one head!
Brown to ash blonde
Tumblr media
Powder Brown looks pretty high fashion on a girl like you!
Brunette after platinum blonde
Tumblr media
For the first time hair color changer, this is for you! Broaden your horizons by broadening your hair color spectrum with an end-to-end brunette-blonde explosion.

20 Best Ombre Hair Colors For Short Hair
Anjali Sayee February 15, 2019
Dark at the top, getting lighter as it reaches the bottom – that’s what you call an ombre, and it’s all the rage right now.
You’ve seen Jessica Biel’s beach-perfect hair, right? Well, that’s an ombre! An ombre can accentuate your skin tone, eye color, and natural hair color and texture. It can also give you that flawless vacay wavy hair look! If you have short hair, you’ve probably thought that it might not work due to the length of your locks.
What are you waiting for? Check out these 20 incredible ombre styles!
20 Best Ombre Hair Colors
1. Silver Ombre
emve_hair / Instagram
Silver is one hot color! It goes well with cool-toned skin. If you have a warm undertone, add in some gold or blonde highlights. If you really want your silver ombre to pop, you can also throw in some lilac highlights.
2. Smokey Purple Ombre
kylierosehairartist / Instagram
Smokey purple goes well with warm-toned skin. Check out other pastel shades of purple that have a cooler tone if you have cool-toned skin. Go for dark smokey purple shadow roots on the top half of your hair and color the rest of your hair a pastel lilac shade.
3. Powder Blue Ombre
kingdivinefive / Instagram
Blue hair has been around for ages. It is classy, stylish, and vibrant. This look starts out intense and becomes light towards the end. If you want powder blue hair, but it does not go with your skin tone, opt for an ombre like this one.
4. Lilac Hair
sadiejcre8s / Instagram
Lilac hair is all over my Insta-feed right now. It’s a lovely, wild color that makes you feel free. It works best with medium and fair skin tones. A big craze right now is a lilac ombre with the roots done up in an intense lilac shade that gets lighter as you reach the ends.
5. Blonde Balayage Ombre
themaneattic / Instagram
Balayage is a free-hand coloring technique. It makes the added color blend seamlessly into your natural hair color. This subtle blonde ombre balayage is perfect for beachy summers.
6. Gray Ombre
szaboimreszalonok / Instagram
Steamy gray ombres are a hit this year. Gray is a mature yet chic color. It tends to stand out during fall and works with the Christmas theme too. The darker roots of this hair look help frame your face beautifully.
7. Red-Blonde Ombre
hairbyalex_23 / Instagram
Red and gold are warm-toned hues that bring the mythical phoenix to mind. These colors add shine and volume to your locks. They also bring depth to your tresses. I love how the red blends in with the golden blonde to create this glossy ginger look that is perfect for fall.
8. Rose Ombre
lakoetsalon / Instagram
Rose gold is like that popular kid at school that everyone loves! You can almost feel the warmth of this pink-gold combo emanating from the picture. Style this gorgeous ombre in some curls to add dimension to your locks.
9. Titian Ombre
flawlessfinishbysara / Instagram
Titian is a beautiful reddish-brown hair shade with an orange tint. It is often confused with auburn. Pair your titian ombre with some subtle strawberry blonde highlights. This is a warm combination that will suit people with warm undertones.
10. Gradual Blonde
valentina_fabbian / Instagram
If you have dark locks, your ultimate makeover would be going to the light side (like a Jedi, get it?). Instead of an immediate transition to blonde, opt for a gradual blonde ombre. It is a safe way to see how blonde hair would look on you without any dire consequences.
11. Lob Ombre
hair_color_jeff / Instagram
The lob is taking over the world. Actresses like Jennifer Lawrence and Emma Stone have popularized this chic hairstyle. If you have a lob, one sure way to spice it up is with a natural colored ombre. Get a chocolate brown ombre to add depth and dimension to your locks.
12. Driftwood Blend
hairgoals / Instagram
Driftwood looks stunning. It is brown at the top and blonde as you peel away layers. A driftwood ombre will add dimension to your locks with a touch of contrast. Choose smokey shades to infuse a mysterious vibe to your look.
13. Rose Brown Ombre With A Blonde Shine
hairsoakedinbleach / Instagram
Rose brown is making brunettes all over the world go crazy. It’s a stunning color inspired by the rose gold shade. Add a subtle golden touch to your rose brown ombre to make it glossy. Style it in some curls and go slay!
14. White Ombre
zerochris73 / Instagram
White hair is the latest trend in blonde hair colors. Keep an inch of your roots dark to add depth to your ombre. This white-washed blonde ombre first merges with the dark roots to look ashy but becomes stark white at the end.
15. Dirty Blonde Ombre
salon.nine / Instagram
Light with a golden touch or deep like a mystery – dirty blonde is a versatile shade that is making women everywhere happy. A dirty blonde ombre is just what you need to spice up your locks this autumn. It is a shade that will suit cool- and warm-toned skin.
16. Deep Blue Balayage
allieleighbeauty / Instagram
If you have naturally black hair, try out this ombre. It’s grungy and young! If your hair is dull, this a great way to liven it up. This deep blue shade looks great with the autumn and summer color palettes.
17. Cherry Ombre
hairandbeauty_bycarly / Instagram
There’s a reason the best things in life are described as the “cherry on top.” Opt for a cherry ombre to spice up your hair. This color is playful and deep. It suits fair skin, but you can find shades to suit your skin tone and undertone as well.
18. Candy Cane Ombre
styliste_caro / Instagram
Think of a color that best describes femininity. You probably thought of candy pink and pastel lavender. Try this lovely curly candy cane blend of both those colors. You will love it!
19. Turquoise Ombre
nicolee.hair / Instagram
Blue is such a beautiful and calm color. It makes me wonder why the phrase “Monday blues” has such a negative connotation. This blue ombre reminds me of the waves calmly crashing against the shore.
20. Denim Blue Ombre
theyoungamericansalon / Instagram
Denim has been around for ages and is a classic. Color experts have taken it a step further, allowing us to take this denim obsession to our hair. Isn’t this denim ombre absolutely to die for?

Hair color correction notes ToT
So hair has been bleached, and now it's over fried and grey because even the pale banana yellow has been stripped out.
Options:
1. Do a color remover method such as a. Vitamin c/dandruff shampoo/dish soap, that ion water mix color remover, or another light blonde box dye (9 1/2 or lighter) if hair may be grey because it over absorbed an ash tone. If one of these works, and you have hair with at least a slight gold base again? Use wella 7N natural dark blonde on the roots. Apply to roots, then use thin tooth comb to brush the color down just slightly to blur the line between colors. Put conditioner on the lighter blonde lengths. USE PROTEIN FILLER PLEASE OR YOUR LIGHT BLONDE WILL GET FUCKING GREY AGAIN. If you want to put a particular color on the lengths, I recommend level 9NG wella permanent if some slight gold needs to be added/protected in the lengths.
2. So you did step 1 above and it was fucked. Or you did not do step 1 above because it's white/grey because there's just no fucking gold base left. Even after a color removing method, your hair is just white/grey. Go get the Clairol Advanced Grey Semi Permanent dyes. Mix 10/4 ratio (it can be any ratio just make sure the gold color is the larger amount) 6G with 6N dye. Mix the dyes with conditioner until the color is as LIGHT as you would like. Put this mostly gold/slightly neutral color mixture into the fucked up hair. This mixture should ADD gold back in (thank fuck). The ratio can be adjusted if you need more ash tones, or more gold, or darker or lighter. This is a good method to give your hair a darker base color again if say you're trying to go from base blonde to brown ultimately. Anyway, so you've mixed 6G/6N (at level 8 blonde lightness) and now have mostly neutral colored hair. If your roots are too warm at this point? Use 5A (light ash brown) mixed with 6N and apply to roots. If you want the color to be a bit lighter than level 6 on the roots, apply conditioner until the color is light enough (which in my case was 5A/6N equal ratio with a little conditioner to level 7 lightness). Okay, so now you've got roughly neutral toned hair all over. Wooh!
3. What if last step, 2, came out overall too ashy? It DID add some gold so you're back in a natural haircolor range. But it's not gold ENOUGH. You look washed out. You know this ashy is still going to affect future colors? Or you fucked up and darkened your hair with the semi permanent dyes by going too dark (just a little too dark though like you're level 7-8 blonde now instead of the goal of level 7 roots and level 9-10 ends). Or you just want to permanently make your hair a natural color, now that the base color has been put back into a roughly natural range with the semi permanent dyes? That's me NOW lmao.
Slap some 9NG wella in that baby! Put it primarily in the lengths and where ashy buildup is (about 2 inches from the root), leave it on as long as you'd leave on dye for grey coverage (since it will work on the grey hairs longer), so around 45 minutes. About 15-20 minutes before you'll rinse, put the last of the 9NG you mixed into the roots. If you want the roots to be closer to the same color as the rest of the hair, or lighten it a little, or bring that same neutral warm tone up to them too. (Wella 9NG worked excellent on my hair and I think next time I might just use that on my fucking roots too and avoid this kind of mess of a process in the future lol)
The left was after the semi permanent dyes (6N/6G with conditioner on lengths and 5A/6N with conditioner on roots). A roughly natural shade color was reached, but was slightly too ashy and green for my taste. The right picture is after the 9NG wella permanent dye. The color is a bit golder with a bit less green. While also looking like a natural shade, not super gold to the point of looking brassy.

16 Stunning light brown hair with blond highlights ideas
New Post has been published on https://www.easypromhairstyles.com/16-stunning-light-brown-hair-with-blond-highlights-ideas.html
16 Stunning light brown hair with blond highlights ideas
A light brown hair with blond reflections is a hair color in which the base is an arbitrary light brunette shade, coupled with much brighter reflections. Unprecedented dimension and brightness are what you will instantly get with this trendy bronze (brown plus blond) hair color!
Blondes and brunettes do not always have to be enemies! Proven by the hotties Miranda Kerr, Lucy Hale and Ciara, these two bright shades work absolutely together to give you a soft and natural-looking mane regardless of length and hair type.
We all know that blonde has a wide variety of shades to work with, and it might be overwhelming at first. Keep in mind that cool blondes fit with cool toned hair bases. Warmer blonde tones can give you an intense, sun-kissed look and give your garments shine.
Highlights are also available in various forms – Balayage, Ombre, full or partial highlights. Your choice should not only depend on your style, but also on your lifestyle and commitment. An ombre can leave you more time between your next fix.
Suitable for all seasons, this flattering combination certainly defines a fun and flirtatious look! Let yourself be inspired to dare to switch to one of these popular looks on light brown hair with blond highlights!
Balayage highlights
How would you describe this look?
This look is a rich, dimensional, vibrant blonde. My favorite thing about this look is the richness of the lows against the bright blond pieces.
Any advice for someone considering it?
This is a great look for someone with middle brown to light brown hair. It is super low maintenance. It is also best for someone who likes to lure their hair, because it makes the dimensions really popular.
Strawberry blond highlights
How would you describe this look?
When I think of strawberry blonde, my first thought is that Blake Lively strawberry blonde that everyone wants! That was my inspiration for this color! When you make natural hair glow, you always want to choose a color that complements it.
I think to frame the face with more blonde and gradually fade into the crown, makes for a beautiful color! And of course, if you can have a seamless mixed color in a straight style, that's the ticket to beautiful hair! The lightening of the hair for the summer will highlight your hair more and more, changing colors for the seasons draw attention to your hair. We all want people to notice our hair!
Any advice for someone considering it?
I would recommend this color to anyone with natural brown hair or lighter hair! It is the most beautiful spring and summer color! Although it is important to understand how much your hair can tolerate when it comes to lightening and keeping it healthy.
Good products are the key! To get a smooth and silky blonde, I used Oribe Gold Lust Shampoo and Conditioner, Oribe Moisturizing Lotion and Oribe Split End Serum!
Reddish brown hair with blond highlights
How would you describe this look?
This look is easy-care "lived in color". I love the fact that when I make a balayage highlight, you can go months and the color still looks amazing, without the regrowth of a traditional slide highlight. She has super thick hair like myself, so I find long layers with some debulking to the ends always doing the trick, so you do not get that choppy look I find most clients complaining about with thick hair.
I love my Bioionic 1 1/4 in curling iron to achieve these stunning waves. This iron lures super fast and really smoothes every spasm in the hair, so it does the job quickly and easily. Because let's be honest, our life is too busy to spend an hour in the morning to do our hair!
Any advice for someone considering it?
I find this style and color perfect for the busy women who need to stay up to date but do not have time for all 4-week appointments.
For customers who are looking for easy-care colors, I always recommend to play their natural color. Keep your root color equal or close to it and add brightness points around the face or ends so you can stay months between appointments. When I designed them, I'm not crazy about products, because who has time for it! I stick to the basics of what they need. In her case, she has thick, coarse hair with a medium wave. My favorite line is now Loma, a more natural aloe-based line that leaves all the chemicals behind!
For her on towel-dried hair I used there smoothing cream and nourishing oil. The products are highly concentrated, so a little of it makes a big contribution. I was foaming her with a big round brush, nothing fancy, then I lured her hair with my 1 1/4 in iron. Then I took a pump more of the nourishing oil that rubbed my hands and applied it to the hair to give it more shine and tame all escapes.
Super easy – nothing special! It took me 25 minutes to blow dry and curl. With a little dry shampoo and an after-treatment with the iron, she should be able to get out of this style for a few days without having to wash herself again! I love Loma for making sure your products are not heavy or greasy on your hair!
Light brown hair with blond highlights
How would you describe this look?
As far as the view of my customer is concerned, I developed a freehand balayage highlighting technique. This gives me the creative freedom to customize their color to best suit me! One of my favorite pieces of this look is the multidimensionality of blond tones and ribbons. Overall, it has a beige tone with some popos of golden blond and a touch of gold as it gradually gets lighter and lighter.
Any advice for someone considering it?
Some tips for all those who are interested in this look are deciding whether to settle for a natural root image or to wish for more classic scalp highlights. Balayage is not for everyone, especially for customers who start with an earlier color. My client has the thickest hair and a little rough, perfect for a soft growth. Balayage is for anyone who can not come every 6 weeks, but wants to achieve that longevity of color. Purple Shampoo once or twice a week is a great way to show your blonde between appointments.
Blonde highlights and dimming
How would you describe this look?
This look is a soft blonde balayage. This guest came with a previously mature Balayage. We first cut 5 inches to refresh the ends and make it easier for them with their busy lifestyle. With this length she can wash and go or spend some more time curling and styling herself!
Next we added highlights with Schwarzkopf Blondme in a traditional foil technique. I cut the hair back from its partial line with diagonal slides. It is, of course, above a level 7, so we have left its base for extra dimensions. She had previously brightened ends, so that the foils for a softer look and rather a Balayage than an Ombré caused. Then I toned up with Redken Shades EQ.
This is a pretty low maintenance style. Since we have left their natural color at the base, the outgrowth will be easier and we can keep up with a few slides mostly around the face, then at each couple's appointment we will brush up the ends by stroking the balayage.
I would also recommend a toner between the color appointments. I used Joico's Defy Damage treatment to create all the shine! I styled it with a voluminous mousse and textured spray and lured it with the beachwaver.
Any advice for someone considering it?
This is a pretty soft, easy-care color! I would recommend this look to someone who is looking for a dimension in his hair, but does not have to be in the salon every 4 weeks.
This special guest has a natural level 7, thick, smooth hair texture. This look can vary depending on the natural level of the hair! She has a busy lifestyle at school and as an athlete, which allows for a simple "wash and go" style.
I would recommend this guest a toning shampoo and conditioner to keep pace between appointments. For the styling I would recommend a leave-in conditioner and a texture spray.
Honey blond highlights
How would you describe this look?
This dimensional honey blonde balayage radiates summer with a warm glow that brightens everyone's look. The best part is the fact that it looks super bright overall but still has many dimensions. She is not only solid blond, but also has a sun-cooled and natural look.
Any advice for someone considering it?
Most of the time I give golden blondes to customers who are about 50% gray and want to mix the silver into their natural base color. The warmer tones give the hair a more youthful appearance. Honey blond highlights are also less care compared to super ashy blondes. This is good for customers who do not want to come back often to tone their hair, or for customers with well water and other hard, mineral-filled shower water.
Curly light brown hair
How would you describe this look?
This is a dark blonde with dimensional highlights on long, naturally curly hair.
This guest has an amazing head of thick, naturally curly hair that has begun to turn gray. She is not ready for the commitment to durable color and had an old grown color that has faded and turned brassy. Her cut was also full-grown and out of shape.
We gave her some gentle blonde highlights to combine the lightness of the ends with the top. We then gave her a semi-permanent color gloss to blend in the gray that comes in, and then added a few toners to make her hair a more neutral and less warm / brusque color!
For her cut we have increased the length and given her long strata to catch the natural wave with which she is blessed!
Any advice for someone considering it?
If you have natural curls and want a light riot in freestyle, try long stretches and add texture to enhance your natural wave! I always say, "Let's work with what you have! Let your curls shine! "Good hair is only good without the help of suitable products!

All three of these products are suitable for all hair types.
Reddish brown hair with blond highlights
How would you describe this look?
This look is a dimensional balance. I've worked with the customer's natural warmth, and I love how it connects from a softer highlight near the root to a lighter, thicker piece of blonde at the ends. In addition, a heavier frame is created, but if kept close to the root naturally, it is low maintenance!
Any advice for someone considering it?
Be versatile with your styling – it can look great, but even better if it's wavy!
Caramel and blonde highlights
Shoulder-length hair with waves is enough to turn your head. What adds to that is the delicious blonde-brunette mix.
Ash brown hair with blond highlights
A new trend is in town! Mushroom brown hair seems to steal the limelight. Effortlessly handsome, highlights, waves and so on.
Platinum blonde highlights
Christmas arrived early with a freshly roasted chestnut dye job! Winter highlights made it all better.
Ash blonde highlights
For this reason, (hair) dreams are made! Twisted stripes on the back make him the perfect partner for this blonde Do.
Light Honey Brown Hair
The bordering of brown stripes on platinum hair is the pure hair conversion that anyone can safely pull through.
Light caramel brown hair
Midway brown and blond hair on long hair. Soft waves make this look even more extraordinary.
Light brown hair with blond highlights
The highlights here are not the usual eye-catching blonde color, but the variation fits in well with this brunette color!

20 remarkable dark ombre hair color ideas
A dark ombre hair color is a technique that gradually transforms the hair from a dark color on the top to an even darker color on the bottom. Traditionally, the dark shades start at the roots and turn into bright ends. This can be the other way around – the roots brighter and the tips darker – and this is called the reverse ombre.
With the Balayage hand painting technique, dark ombres now look more natural than ever! The wide selection of colors to choose from and blend make this hairstyle suitable for literally anyone, regardless of complexion, natural hair color and lifestyle. It is important to communicate well with your colorist so that you can develop your personality with the most flattering color combination!
Working with your natural color makes it even easier to look after, as the growth does not pose a problem! Highlights and lower lights can create a seamless transition that turns ombre hair into a natural-looking one, and we're forever grateful to you for that.
See how Lucy Hale, Taraji Henson and Selena Gomez wear their dark ombres, and you're sure to turn green with envy. If you are looking for a hairstyle with outstanding dimensions, contrasts and edges, this is just the thing for you.
Here we have collected only the most popular dark ombre hair looks for this year! Check it now!
Dark to ash ombre
How would you describe this look?
This look is a high-contrast ombre – the roots are from black to medium brown and end very easily! The thing I love about this look is the ashy blonde. We also cut her hair into a soft U-shape and create a nice length definition when her hair is curled!
Any advice for someone considering it?
Ombres with high contrast are for those who are ready for a big change and understand the care of blond ends. Customers also need to understand that it takes several sessions to reach those fair-haired ends. This photo was taken after three sessions. Another thing to keep in mind is the maintenance. Most natural brunettes have many red undertones, so if their hair is bleached, it tends to draw more orange / gold than ashen. To keep it a little shy, it must be cared for with either toning or purple shampoo!
I work and love Redken products, so I recommend you to use Redken Extreme Anti-Snap before drying or the extreme C.A.T. treatment before shampooing. Another recommendation, if you prefer ashy blonde, would be the use of Redken Color Extend Blondage Purple Shampoo, but only if you notice that your blonde is becoming gilded. Daily or even weekly use may cause your hair to turn purple.
Blond ombre on dark hair
How would you describe this look?
This look is an edgy ombre. It combines deep cool brunette (level 3/4 cool) tones that turn into cool beige and blonde ends (level 9). We smoothed and tinkled with ashes to keep the heat down. The customer grows up a shoulder-length, inverted "praise", so we just cropped the ends and I shaved a few separate layers. I then rolled with a Marcel 1.25in run and stroked it still warm. Equipped with Aveda texture tonic.
Any advice for someone considering it?
This is usually not a monochrome session result. The customer must keep the hair moist and healthy. I would recommend a daily repair product (like Aveda's daily hair repair) when wet, a thickening spray everywhere, and a hair spray to speed up the styling. After drying with an iron or curling iron and bridle curl – to get a roughened texture, finish with textured spray (Aveda texture spray).
This look is also cute straight, but gives a more edgy look when curled up. I think that's a flattering length for all face shapes and hair structures. This particular customer is a young, stylish mother of two. I often see her and she always lets her hair style well. Even for a mother on the way.
Dark brown to light brown ombre
How would you describe this look?
This look is a splash of coffee cream in a dark roast. The best thing about this color is how smooth it mixes between such a dark base and bright ends, and the dimension is my favorite!
Any advice for someone considering it?
I would recommend this color to anyone looking for minimal maintenance. It is perfect for someone who likes to wear his hair in different textured styles such as loose curls, waves and pigtails because it shows the different tones. It's perfect for anyone with naturally darker hair looking for healthy, lighter hair without having to be in the salon for post-processing every 4 weeks.
Remember, in my opinion, these Ombre's / Balayage's with the base as dark and ending as bright as this one each time look better and better when you get it done. It adds more variety of tones through the entire hair and can take more than one session to achieve the desired lightness at the ends.
Dark Black to Silver Ombre
How would you describe this look?
My favorite thing about this look is how bright and cool we finally got their highlights. This customer has a naturally warm, middle brown hair color. We darken their base and then use foil work to lighten the ends. The removal of artificial pigment can be difficult as it releases a lot of heat, which is the opposite of what we look for in this look. We finally reached our goal in this session and were both thrilled. No, we only mend their roots and luster as long as they are satisfied with the growth from the faux balayage technique I use. It is actually quite low maintenance when the desired lightness is achieved.
Any advice for someone considering it?
It is important to remember that it is difficult to get this blonde, if you make it too fast, the hair can be compromised. We worked in multiple sessions for at least 6 months to achieve these silver highlights as opposed to their dark base. As soon as your hair is so light, you need special care at home. Professional products, regular polishing, hair masks, minimal heat styling and a gentle hand while brushing. In addition, not every skin is suitable for cool tones. My general rule, when I think of flattering tones, is that the opposite side of the color wheel works from the underlying skin tones as I get lighter, but the same color family, when I'm getting darker, works for most people.
Caramel ombre on dark brown hair
How would you describe this look?
This look is a subtle approach to a caramel ombre for someone who wants to change it, but it's not too intense. My favorite thing about it is how well the color fades and how beautifully it grows out!
The mix of copper and beige I used makes it look good and she does not have to worry about having dull hair and staying longer between appointments. This color technique is perfect for smooth or curly hair, short or long hair! The cut and the color are super easy to clean. The technique I used and the color formula works with most customers, depending on the intensity of the color.
Any advice for someone considering it?
The customer would have to agree with warmer tones. This look is great again, because it introduces the warm caramel tones, without the fear of becoming too red, if that is a concern of the customer.
Blond dark shadow hair
How would you describe this look?
This look shows a perfect gold lived in blonde. With the Balayage technique we can create this "beachy" look without spending the whole summer in the sun. Styling with a wand will also enhance the look, but add the element of beach waves.
Any advice for someone considering it?
Since the blonde does not reach down to the roots, she is perfect for someone who wants less care and yet a totally blonde look. If you are looking for some fun in the sun, this will be the perfect summer look for you!
Dark brown to red ombre
How would you describe this look?
I love how we can play the original root color, because melting a natural color into something bright and different is such a funny thing. Aveda Texture Tonic is great when styling looks great and when you give it a little curls, the color always gets a cool dimensional look when other light hits them.
Any advice for someone considering it?
I would say this look is great for anyone who loves to show off their hair! The styling of the hair with some texture and a strong look give the hair a total picture. Think of cat's eyes and Kat Von D.
Dark to light ombre hair
How would you describe this look?
This is a dramatic mixed ombre praise. The techniques used were babylight, balayage, root shadows, compression cutting and dry cutting. What I love about this look is that it is easy to clean but has a high visual impact.
Any advice for someone considering it?
This is a great style for any customer who loves a dramatic look but does not have the time or budget to choose one. This color and cut only needs reworking a few times a year and can be used on most hair types. The cuts with a lot of versatility and look great – whether wavy or straight!
Dark brown to blond ombre
How would you describe this look?
I created this rooted look with a combination of baby light and balayage. Baby-light is just a hairdressing concept for very finely woven highlights and should give you a similar look as the sun-drenched highlights that you would get as a child. Balayage is a hand painting technique that creates a melted look from dark to light when used. For most of this cut, I've used a shaving technique to give it a soft texture and really showcase the color.
My favorite part of the whole project was to give her a vivid color that made her feel brighter and brighter. The beach waves were generated with a flat iron and completed with Oribe texturing spray. If you have not tried this product yet, you are seriously missing it. It creates effortless texture and volume in no time at all for fine-haired girls: this is your new best friend!
Any advice for someone considering it?
This customer of mine, as seen in the picture, had already been balaged twice before this final transformation. Her hair was dyed dark brown before it got blond, so we had to trust the process and take it slow to protect the integrity of her hair.
My biggest advice to those who want to get brighter: Be 100% honest with your stylist about your color history and take it slowly. Trust the process. Raising virgin hair is pretty easy, but when you lift through old colors (professional and boxing dyes), it can be unpredictable. If you take it slowly, your hair will stay healthy and will not compromise.
Normally I send all my customers home with professional care products to ensure the longevity and health of the hair. Any hair type can achieve this look over time, but do not be surprised if you have thick, dark hair, you probably will not come to a frosty blond color in a service.
This color is inhabited, which means that you can stay a few months without much, and it will still look seamless. The cut can be achieved with straight hair up to really curly hair. It has minimal layers for extra movement and face-frame pieces to suit any face shape. No matter what texture, but you are petting it, this color and the cut combination are perfect for all your easy-care girls and guys out there!
Blue Ombre
How would you describe this look?
This look is minimalist yet stylish and dimensional through the color and layers.
One of my favorite pieces of this look is the dark blue ombre, which blends seamlessly into the dark roots. Darker roots allow regrowth to be less obvious, thus reducing grooming. In addition, since it is in a darker shade, the color lasts longer and even if it fades, it will fade beautifully. Dark blue is one of the coolest shades ever.
Any advice for someone considering it?
If you are dark-haired and want a very easy-care look, this beautiful dark blue ombre can definitely be one of your inspirations. You do not necessarily dye your entire head to achieve that look. I will also recommend this to clients with strict office wear, as this subtle dark blue ombre definitely does not stand out in the eyes of HR.
Brown Ombre
How would you describe this look?
I've created this reverse ombre with a color fusion technique, from its natural blond mixed colors to the darkest brown. The cut consists of long layers, which are designed with Biolage thermal active spray and a large curling iron.
Any advice for someone considering it?
This color is perfect for a natural blonde who desires a dramatic change without much care.
Dark brown ombre
This kind of curly ombre makes a bold change from rich chocolate to some caramel swirls. And honestly, we live for it.
Rose gold ombre on dark hair
Balayage hair helps in changing the color, especially in this dark to light. Pink hairs with ashen tones still stand out, while radiating a relaxed atmosphere.
Violet ombre
Violet hair is a simple and creative way to express yourself. A gray transition to rich violet and purple strands screams impudence.
Gray Ombre
Stylist Aubrey has set himself instagram-worthy hair goals! A smooth transition from dark to light gray hair gives the hair excellent color quality.
Balayage Ombre
Biscuits and cream in a creamy consistency! With dark roots and bright ends, it is usually the safest way to explore the hair color. Besides, it is really easy to wait!
Red Ombre
Funny and sexy, like burning passion! Be an instant eye-catcher with silky scarlet ombre.
Backlight to dark Ombre
Soft waves that begin at the nape of the neck can create a smoother transition from light to dark. Here we have a dark caramel to black ombre.
Inverted blonde to dark ombre
The deeper the color, the better! A silky light to dark fade that enchants wonderfully.
Short dark ombre hair color
Yes, you can still make Ombre on a Pixie cut! And with this color change, I'm sure he'll look unique.
