absolutely dying to find out how people react to the teru vs mob fight. u said it was a lot more brutal and that instead of a barrier, mob just kinda stands there and takes everything and tries not to think about the damage .. does anybody even Know it happened. does he heal too fast for anybody to find out. or does ritsu or reigen worry immensely
!!!! Long story short: Mob's body heals completely, but his clothes do not. He returns home smelling like smoke and chlorine with his clothes both singed AND still wet. Ritsu has no idea what happened, but he also has a perfectly good idea what happened and he's worried sick. Clearly Nii-san was in some sort of fight.
The Body Improvement Club were going to take Kageyama back to their club room to let him dry himself off with their towels, planning to finish their workouts like normal and pretend nothing happened. They're ride or die for Kageyama and clearly No one wants to talk about whatever happened with that other zombie kid. But Mob collapsed of exhaustion on the way to Salt, so they just took him to his house instead. So then Ritsu opens the door to find his brother looking dead on his feet, surrounded by bigger, stronger people. On pure instinct, he yanks Shigeo behind him into the house and slams the door on the outsiders. Musashi yells "SEE YOU LATER, KAGEYAMA!" and trots away with the other guys before Ritsu recovers enough to think of maybe asking them what happened. sad as it is, this is hilarious to me. Ritsu just. YOINK (SLAM)
Anyway, so then Shigeo kind of. blinks back to awareness in Ritsu's kitchen and directs himself upstairs toward his room, barely seeing anything, subsumed in recently-unearthed memories of Dimple all mixed in with confusion and panic and regret about the fight. He's not really hearing anything, so he doesn't respond at all to Ritsu's first call of "Nii-san? Nii-san, are you okay?"
Ritsu lets him go upstairs and shut himself in his room. THEN Ritsu gathers the courage to go bring him a towel, and he tries to ask Shigeo what happened. But by that time, Shigeo's thoughts have crystalized into: this is bad. I didn't kill anyone this time, but I lost control again. I still don't know what I did to Dimple.
So instead of answering Ritsu's questions, he asks why Dimple is gone. He asks what he did to Dimple, and whether he did anything to Ritsu, too, when he was a zombie.
Ritsu was. not prepared for this conversation.
So Ritsu lies. He says Dimple is fine, and they just ran into some trouble on the road and Mob protected Ritsu, and Dimple just—had somewhere else to go. He promises Mob never hurt Dimple.
Mob says nothing. Ritsu excuses himself from the room and flees downstairs and out the door and catches up to Gouda Musashi—there's no working TV in this au—and demands answers about what happened to Shigeo. Musashi tells him that they all got caught up in some truly unfortunate inter-settlement gang violence, and it all turned out fine. Not to worry; Kageyama-kun is fine. Why they all smell like smoke? Oh, there was an accident. Yes, a fire-related accident. Everyone is fine, it was just someone irresponsible messing around in an empty school building. No, Kageyama-kun wasn't particularly involved.
Ritsu then becomes aware that he is acting crazy and drawing way too much attention to his suspicions about Shigeo, and he goes home and sits in the living room with the lights off, staring at the dead television screen.
Musashi claims Shigeo wasn't any more involved than anyone else, but Shigeo looked positively haunted. For a minute, he had looked so directionless that Ritsu had defaulted to dragging him around by the wrist. Shigeo's shirt and shorts were singed, and the rest of the Body Improvement Club didn't seem to have any burns at all.
So, yeah, Ritsu is worried. He thinks someone tried to use Shigeo's unknown-but-suspected ex-zombie strength to fight another town, that maybe they succeeded, and he thinks the Body Improvement are trying to shelter Shigeo from Ritsu by lying to him, and he doesn't want to get Shigeo in trouble by prying any further but also he thinks his brother just nearly got burned alive and he's. he's terrified.
Reigen doesn't know what happened until the next day, when this conversation happens, more or less:
Only, in this au, Mob actually is a zombie. And Reigen knows that. So it's more like:
"Master, if it was in self-defense, would it be okay to cause someone to burn their own settlement's school building, let their hair catch on fire, eat their life force, alienate them from their settlement, and dislocate their hip by throwing them really hard?"
"Mob, what...." (Reigen's courage nearly fails him) "....happened?"
And then Mob explains that he thinks the cure stopped working for a minute, and he doesn't remember exactly what he did, and he might turn into a zombie again, and he doesn't want to be like this anymore. And Reigen assures him that he's fine and it was probably just a state of shock, and reminds him that he does a lot of really positive things with his power, and the matter is smoothed over.
It's smoothed over for Mob, anyway. Reigen is up late that night going ??? ????? ?????? IS HE OKAY. impotently suffering in silence because he can't show how worried is he about this cure situation in front of Mob in case he scares the kid. he can't ask questions he can only observe and hope for the best. this is fine
