idk if anyone wants or needs updates on the ayaka banner thing for genshin but this thread on twitter is a really good explanation of it. however, if you're like me and don't want to go to an external link, here's an explanation:
hoyoverse is based in shanghai (i had to research it a bit but also thank you to @denkineptune for clarifying it for me initially) and shanghai's covid cases have been rising steadily since march. because of it, shanghai's been in lockdown and it's reportedly almost as bad as lockdown was at the very beginning of quarantine two years ago.
because of the quarantine, the devs can't work on the game easily--it's why we have the teapot maintenance suspended and the ayaka banner is going on indefinitely. we don't know if the ayaka banner will actually last for 240 days, but it's just a random number they selected until v2.7 is released. if you want to farm for specific characters, you still can and should because the extension for how long ayaka's banner will last can and probably will change.
as for what events will take place, there's a hoyolab post that lists what events we'll have for the rest of 2.6, (there's a spice event and a 2x talent rewards event coming up). because the spice event has a prerequisite quest from the teapot, it's assumed that the teapot maintenance issue will have been resolved by then, but in my own opinion, if the maintenance issue was supposed to be worked on and resolved by the time of the event, it might not have been finished by the time the event is supposed to take place.
i can update this post as news comes up (if anyone would even want to read my posts, that is) and i'll tag it as #genshin updates from lyz if anyone wants to keep track. and as a reminder: the issues with the game and lack of update might inconvenience your gaming, but they're caused by things the game developers couldn't control. their entire lives are being inconvenienced right now. this wasn't on purpose.
