A really neat thing that happened in a draft yesterday was I was playing a UB control deck against a WU control deck, and we were deep in the late game, I had a flier and was whittling away at their life total, they had a creature that gets infinite +1/+1 counters and were whittling away at my board, and then one turn, I realize something: I have exact lethal. Thanks to my menace creature, I have exactly enough damage to kill them no matter how they block! So I swing with everything.

And they activate this

It had been on their board. Sitting there. For the past like 5 turns. I had completely forgotten about it.

I lost the game next turn.

#asks #and of course the worst part is that i actually DID have real lethal next turn #i really wasn't in any danger #i could've just kept poking them with my flier #but the one time i notice that i have lethal it backfires and kills me #AND THE OPPONENT WAS SUCH A BAD PLAYER TOO!!#they were using a card that can tap 2 artifacts to get a +1/+1 counter #but sometimes they just. didn't use its ability #they had artifacts like Tinker's Tote that they could freely tap but they just. forgot i guess?#i had every reason to win that game but somehow i managed to snatch defeat from the jaws of victory #but honestly i'll take a humiliating loss that's entirely my fault over getting steamrolled by a rare any day #in happier news i made a brawl deck for Sovereign Okinec Ahau and i won 3 games in a row with it #it's like a better version of Baird #kinda bullshit with how it makes an exponentially growing amount of +1/+1 counters but everything is bullshit so who cares
