I’m so god damn sick of the narrative of Character A has a big secret and doesn’t share with their best friend, Character B. Character B finds out and is then pissed off at Character A for not telling them and then Character A has to apologize.

No one fucking owes even their closest relationships all their secrets. It’s up to them when and if they share it. And if the reaction of them sharing it is “I’m so pissed you didn’t tell me right away” rather than “Thank you for sharing, I hope you know you could’ve told me at any time, and I’m honored that you feel comfortable sharing with me now” then that person is an asshole.
