Why I'm Not a Fan of the Verbie Ship

I don't know how well Verbie shippers will take this, but I really hope they don't get upset or offended over this post.

Anyways, i'm here to explain and list reasons why I don't like this ship as much as everyone else does, since it seems to be pretty popular for a crack ship with zero on screen interactions and is even frequently shipped alongside far more established canon/semi-canon ships like Stolitz, Moxxillie, Fizzarozzie or BlitzFizz. So, let's begin.

1. It's bland. All these two have in common is hating Blitzø, having a human disguise and being in rehab. That's it. Two out of three of these things are not even exclusive to Verosika or Barbie. Stolas, Loona, Vortex and the rest of Verosika's posse also all have human disguises. Several other characters hated or still hate Blitzø such as Striker and Fizzarolli. Since i'm not much of a fan of Verbie to begin with, I rarely ever seek out content for it. But even most Verbie fans can't seem to explain why they like this ship so much beyond these dull, vague similarities. To me, Verbie just feels Blitzika 2.0. While I have pretty mixed feelings about Blitzika to begin with, at least that ship has history behind it and a lot of canon basis to work with. There's SOMETHING there. Verbie has none, and there's almost nothing interesting going for it.

2. The only reason this ship came about is because Verosika mentioned Barbie once in Spring Broken, where she calls her a sad washed up loser for still being in rehab and not being rich or famous like her. How romantic. Sure, there are even weirder crack ships that have been shipped for stupider reasons and have even less to go off of in canon, but Verbie fans seem particularly obsessed with this one detail. We don't even know if they were actually in the same rehab at the same time.

3. Unpopular opinion, but I don't think these two sharing a hatred of Blitzø automatically means they would like each other or get along, especially if that one instance of Verosika insulting Barbie is any indication of how they would feel about each other. Barbie wants absolutely nothing to do with Blitzø, and i'm pretty sure that would include being associated with his ex girlfriend. We all know that trash-talking Blitzø on a daily basis is one of Verosika's favorite hobbies. Sure, hearing it might be entertaining for Barbie the first few times, but after a while, I feel like she would just get bored and annoyed from hearing Verosika constantly talking about him, even if most of those comments about Blitzø are about how much he sucks. Likewise, I feel like Barbie would remind Verosika too much of her ex, since she looks like a female version of him and has a similarly crass, loud, short tempered and standoffish personality.

4. Speaking of which, there's not a doubt in my mind that Barbie wouldn't have been all that much better of a partner than Blitzø was if Verosika dated her instead, due to how fucked up both of these twins are as people. The only difference is that Barbie would've spent all of Verosika's money and credit cards on drugs instead of horse riding lessons.

5. My opinion on both characters. I had pretty mixed feelings about Verosika before Apology Tour, but that episode made it easier for me to sympathize with her and showed a softer side to her, so I like her more now. I previously made a post on how I feel about Barbie, (which I deleted since it got zero notes in over a month) and I made it pretty clear that I do not like her at all. If Barbie ever shows a kinder side to her and gives Blitzø a chance to improve himself like Verosika and Fizz have, maybe my opinion on her will soften. But as of right now, I don't see any reason to like her. I simply dislike her too much to pair her with anyone.

6. Many Verbie fans can get pretty annoying about their ship. Not all of them, of course. I'm not even saying most Verbie fans are like this. But a good deal too many are very delusional. They'll make a whole list of reasons why Verosika and Barbie are dating or should be dating and lament the fact that they haven't been seen talking on screen at all. They want them to get together ASAP, even if the result ends up with no explanation and it happens out of left field like with Martha and Mrs Mayberry. They wanted Barbie to show up at Verosika's Blitzø slander party, ignoring the fact that it was a party based on hating your shitty ex boyfriend, so Barbie being there would've been very concering regardless of how she feels about Blitzø.

Most crackshippers are usually not this delusional about their favorite wacky pairings. I may ship Verosika with Sallie May and Striker, but you don't see me pretending that she's actually dating either of them in the canon show, because I can seperate canon from fanon. Again, not all Verbie shippers act like this. But I had such bad experiences with delusional Verbie stans (especially on Twitter) that it's tainted my view a little bit. Here's the thing, not all crack pairings with no canon interaction are bad! Shipping characters who have not had a single conversation as far as canon goes isn't a bad thing on it's own! That includes Verbie. Just don't go making stuff up about them and pretending it's canon or saying it has to be canon.

But the worst part is the biphobic/panphobic attitude coming from a lot of Verbie stans. They think Barbie being pansexual instead of a lesbian makes her "not gay/sapphic enough" despite the fact that bi and pan women are still attracted to women like any lesbian would be. They should be grateful that Barbie is into women at all.

That was about all the reasons I could come up with why I dislike Verbie. No offense to sane Verbie shippers out there who don't pretend that they're a canon couple and who won't have me canceled over this post for criticizing your favorite ship. It's ok to like Verbie! Ship it as much as you want! This post is called "Why I'm Not a Fan of the Verbie Ship" not "Why Anybody Who Ships Verbie is a Moron and Should Stop Shipping it"

hi! i really love your designs, the colours are always really well done anf the characters are full of life.. and i love how your rewrites give the characters complexity and make them really interesting to me, much more so than canon(though i am a fan of some ideas introduced there, they don’t quite turn out in ways that make sense to me)! i’ve been wondering a few things about helluva troupe for a while however and hopefully the answers aren’t spoilers, lol.. in HT, what is Fizz’s involvement with the ‘troupe’ and what is stolas’s involvement too.? i wish you much luck on your work as it is lovely to see! With Fizz it's,,, a bit Fuzzy, because hilariously he's the whole reason I made this AU among other things But I ended up makinh him a sorta side character antag again because while originally he was going to be part of the main crew from the start of HT's storyline, as I went along in trying to write I saw some cool hcs about his star clown days and so I thought to use the more canonized view- mostly in that he's a star clown during the events of HT instead of dropping the show life to join Blitz in I.M.P. That previous version is why you see him in the I.M.P references- and hinty hoo that ol version isnt completely null and voice to the current HT

ANYWAY so yeah- While Fizz isn't as much a main character as he was he still has a great deal of importance to the story and themes I want to express in HT. When it comes to him and the Troupe itself, I could best describe him as one of the biggest foils or parallels to the main cast. Just,, he's this golden image that represents their every want fulfilled. For Blitz especially given their thick history heehooo. (That's not to say this 'golden image' is entirely as it seems btw...)

Now it sounds much like canon I know but I like to think I'm taking a different direction with it- It's not really just the "haha you suck with relationships, fuck, shit, pénis im doing better look at my good relationship" nonsense cuz for 1. Fizzarozzie does nOT exist anymore- its Mamzie now 😊 (Mammon + Ozzie) and 2. The themes with Fizz and really most of HT has less to do with the melodramatic romance "will they wont they" of Stolitz (which isnt really a thing either) and more the struggle impoverished and oppressed peoples experience with success, failure, identity, community, family, status, history, trauma, etccc. Specifically, because I am an indigenous person from Canada, a lot of the themes are drawn from my own experiences, knowledge and history as an indigenous person. Though with execution, creative liberties were taken to make the fact they're in Hell clear btww-

Specifics and how it happens and wheNNN?? Im still not sure yet if im honest- been really busy the last year or so and so Ive hadnt had any time or energy to work as much on writing all the things! ;u; thats probs disappointing to hear cuz plaNNing and all is important if you're gonna post story stuff at all,,, but !! I do hope to work more on the story this year so i can wrap up all these floating ideas into a Concrete line of stuff cuz truly all im missing is the middle pieces. ANYHOOT ONTO STOLAS! i rambled a bit too much about Fizz cuz im still figuring him out- Stolas might be a bit shorter cuz his role is sweet and simplisticerr.

So, Stolas is an antagonist. He and Blitz still have an exchange sort of deal, but the deal is Blitz gets to keep the grimoire for I.M.P if he handles Stolas' "errands" and gives it back on the full moon with ofc none of the uh,,hawny stuff, obv. Blitz kinda keeps this deal under wraps from the rest of I.M.P because for him, it hurts his pride to admit he's in need of some big guy's help. And Stolas is somewhat aware of this. And so, Stolas is this looming, cruel threat that Blitz carries the burden of cuz he's stubborn as fuck whilst the rest of I.M.P remain ignorant.

Some bonus notes that dont really have to do with Stolas involvement with imp but jus how stuff ive changed with his canon influence the story diff than canon; so, Stella isnt a thing anymore. In general the Goetia work much differently- majority of the Goetia being the children of Ozzie instead of Paimon (who is Stolas' sibling now btw too) and the Goetia being thousands of years old instead of fucking 30- Also! While Via is existant she is but a baby instead of a moody teen,, ties heavily with Stolas' motives and how he operates as a character, royal, and Goetian and felt it would work better with how HT Stolas is as a character than it would otherwise.

Also no worries about the username! I dont like canon stolas much either lol,,;
