i need to have a discussion with one mr. brennan lee mulligan about how my chemical romance makes beautiful music that has given queer and mentally ill kids a comfortable place to be angry while also encouraging them to keep marching on and to be themselves no matter what anybody tells them. i need to sit bleem down and explain the plots of three cheers, the black parade, and danger days so that he understands how creative and interesting that the music made by this band is. ruben is an awsten knight or pete wentz if anything how dare you sir.

i'm not very efficient to be honest but in general. figure out the vibe u want (fluffy, angsty, what music they'd listen to), pick a few genres + artists and work from there ?! 🥹 see what other artists fans enjoy / if they have any playlists / etc... i listen to a lot of genres so i'm usually alright no matter what . like i start by scrolling through my playlists & liked songs for 20 minutes before i even try to go deep diving LOL....

erm. i will use my oc as an example . i'm still figuring her out to be honest. but. she likes rnb, jazz, indie, shoegaze etc... so artists i immediately think to check would be laufey, sza, bathe alone, the neighbourhood, milena, ENNY etc etc and there's a couple of my own playlists in mind that i know i can steal from

and i like rozie ramati who happens to have a few playlists + a "discovered on" section so i just queue songs that look good to see if i like them for my oc :-) just by scrolling for a bit i already have 30 songs without trying too hard ? ^^ (here's the playlist if u would like to see)

if it's not an oc i check out existing playlists ^^ with their name and maybe popular lines e.g. "we are the protagonists of the world" for bokuaka, "my soul knows otherwise" for satosugu, etc. it can be helpful if ur looking for genres u don't really listen to/need inspo

^ my logic about writing applies to this tbh. if it's an oc u can think of characters that they remind u of and check those playlists

lore... what are their issues. what are their insecurities and trauma what are their key relationships what music do you think they'd listen to etc.. it's good to keep in mind while listening to lyrics like for example if they often feel like a burden/useless i'm going to say leech boy by crywank. i don't know my oc's issues yet so i can't use that to guide me LMAO but y'know

song radios and spotify's daily/genre mixes can kind of suck ass if we're being serious but i do check them because sometimes they Don't suck ass. so.

there's also playlist makers on youtube ^^ straight up just searching like. "krnb playlist" or "satosugu playlist" then letting yourself fall down a rabbit hole

and i know it can be like. u'll see popular trending songs pop up a lot and ur like maannn but they're accurate so u want them anyway. and that's fine. u can work around it too though like... sometimes there's "songs like x" playlists or u check the artist for other songs...yeah.

really quite shocked u asked me i don't think i've ever successfully made a chara playlist. i always forget about them or get too picky and give up LEIFGJBDJHGB but if u would like song recs...hit me up. I Love Music. also let me see afterward if u want like OMGG so exciting...

A/N: Hey y’all this is my first fic. Hope you like it. Any feedback would be great.

Summary: Angel is getting a little fed up with your recent choices in music

Word count:830

Angel groaned as he heard the opening notes to the song that was slowly driving him insane. He knew you would be yelling the chorus any second now. You had been playing the song all day. Your obsession with the song wasn’t so much as an obsession as it was you just being petty.  

“I’m so sick of being lonely. Every night while my maannn goes out with his homies” you yelled watching Angel pull on his kutte.

“For fuck’s sake, what’s your problem” Angel yelled

“I wanna know how it feels to be loved, be loovveedd” you continued singing completely ignoring him.

Angel had just gotten home the night before from a 2-week run and was now going to a party at the club. Of course, you were invited but you just wanted to spend time with your man, ALONE. You had two days off before you would be working the next 5.  Who knows when the next time you both would be home? The first day you decided to spent it as a self-care day. Nails done, hair done, everything did. The second day, Angel would be arriving back in town. Everything was timed perfectly. By the time Angel got home, you were sitting pretty and ready to be loved on by your man. But he didn’t have the same plans as you.  

So began the constant playing of the Field Mob song.

“How many times are you going to play this damn song? You only sing the chorus knowing good and well you don’t know the rest” Angel said tiredly.  “I’ll play the song as much as I want, it’s not like you’re going to be here to hear it” “I don’t know why you just won’t come with me to the club. The guys all want to see you. They’ve missed you” “At least someone does” you said pettily “It sure would be nice if my man missed me” Angel groaned at your last remark “How about I stay for an hour and on my way home I pick up a pint of your favorite” he bargained “I’ll even throw in a foot massage and you know how I feel about them crusty things”  

Angel thought he was in the clear when you finally played a new song. He knew he was wrong when he heard Mariah Carey start to sing. “I gotta shake you off cause the loving ain’t the same and you keep on playing games like you know I’m here to stay” you crooned loudly “Baby, I’m sorry- ““Gotta make that move” “YN, please just listen- ““find somebody who appreciates all the love I give, I gotta do- “ This time it was you who was cut off as Angel turned the music off. “Baby, I’m sorry that I didn’t consider that you might have been missing me and wanted to spend time together. But why can’t we spend time together at the club. You love being there and hanging with the guys as much as I do.” There was still no reply from you. “Okay then, I won’t be out too long. I love you and I'll see you when I get back.” You continued to hum the song with a sudden interest in how great your nails were. “I said I love you” you still continued to ignore him. “Okay, I see how it is” Angel said as he stood headed for the door.  

You thought he had left until you heard the voice of Usher. “There’s always that one person who will always have your heart” Angel sang “You’ll never see it coming cause you’re blinded from the start” He continued “Come on baby, you’re not going to make me sing alone are you, oooh babyyyy” You couldn’t help but smile. “You will always be my boo” he sang badly “See I don’t about y’all but I know about us” you sing with your best Alicia Keys impression.  

The song continued to play as Angel wrapped you in his arms and swayed you two together. “I’m sorry love, you know I never wanted you to think I wasn’t missing you. These past weeks were rough, I just wanted to take it off my mind for a little bit so all my focus could be on you” “You know I’m here for you baby, good and bad. You’re lucky I forgive you because I was this close to playing Heartbreak Hotel” “Thank lord cause I don’t think there would have been any coming back for me. I’m going to call the guys and let them know I won’t be coming tonight. How about you order some pizza while I pull out the karaoke machine and we really get this party started” You giggled like a school girl knowing this night was going to be nothing but fun for you and your man. To think all it took was a few songs on repeat for you to have your man all for yourself

Her eyes go wide, glancing at Bing with her mouth open “Holy frick” she mouths, before smiling bright, giving a slight rasped sound “Hahah! Man I missed out! I mean, me now probs gets to listen to these deets but maannn” she signs, shimmying a lil in place “Is this what the turn of the century did? Dang I remember folks freaking out over dem computers all blowing up once 2000 hit on the clock” she signs, continuing to enjoy the music

"That actually almost did happen," Bing says. "A bunch of programmers and computer scientists around the world had to work together to make sure the computers didn't shut down! Whole big thing, people think Y2K was just paranoia but like it would've happened if some peeps didn't work super hard to prevent it!"

"So you were like... early 90's, right, dude?"

"That recent?" Wilford asks, shocked.

"Yeah, dude! She's totally a 90's dude, even the lingo."
