Random thought but how come we can get a mecha spin-off out of Idolmaster before it even became an idol series but series like Love Live, Bang Dream, and what-have-you can’t get the same treatment.
#anime#i think about this now and again#like idol anime bring in a ton of dosh#and i know in-universe they make music videos set against fantasy backdrops#but not an actual fantasy/mecha spinoff like idolmaster w/ xenoglossia??#que??#like okay idolmaster at least gets collabs w/ tales of the rays#and i'm not sure if i should consider symphogear an 'idol series' but they've interacted w/ nanoha#which is arguably mecha musume#but you mean to tell me these other series - that are so popular - won't branch out outside of the high school setting?#you're just going to sit on those IPs and NOT want to rake in more money?#girls and mecha are a winning combo - you'd be crazy to NOT want to take an idol series & not inject that shit into its veins#also inb4 somebody mentions macross but it's mecha first and idol anime second#i'm talking about the idol shows that are set during high school#like shit even idolish7 kind of gets its own spin-off stories in fantasy & post-apocalyptic genres#idk maybe the devs think doing that w/ girls/waifus aren't worth the investment#so i can't necessarily say it's a 'missed opportunity' if they're not intending to make plans to play around in those settings#for collabs or spin-offs and whatnot#like this is just me but i'd love to see girls from different idol anime just being badass & beating the shit out of each other#they can still sing & be cute while slinging fisticuffs and blowing shit up w/ the latest military tech at the same time lmao
