When I Made My Blog: heh. December of 2019 but I was a basically a lurker till February.

Reason for My URL: Artemisia Gentileschi is my favorite baroque painter. She was a brilliant woman who triumphed in a man’s world and in a man’s field. My blog headline “baroque woman” is both a play on words and a reference to her. I spelled Artemisa differently in my blog title adding “me” by spelling it Artemesia.

Get To Know You

I was tagged by @searchingwardrobes who is a delight and answering asks memes on the internet is one of my great joys. So, here I am.

1. Why did you choose your url?

I had been a Tumblr lurker for a very long time. Like, almost too long a time, to be quite honest. And as I continued to lurk on Tumblr, likely staring at gifs of Nick and Jess’s first kiss on New Girl, I rediscovered fic. As a recovering Harry Potter fic connoisseur, I started reading Doctor Who fic. Probably some more Harry Potter fic, too. And then, for reasons I still do not entirely understand, I started reading The 100 fic. Which was a show I did not watch at that time. Except I saw THE HUG™ gif and my brain was like, so they’re gonna kiss right??? RIGHT???? Anyway, Bellamy and Clarke kiss a lot in fic. Also, in the books. Read the books, they’re kind of mindless and entertaining. AND THEN. My lurking and fic reading led me to one of my all-time favorite fic authors on Tumblr who was (wait for it) watching ONCE UPON A TIME. Justin and I had watched the first season of Once Upon a Time together and when they broke the first curse, both of us were like, well, now what? Legit, I think we stopped watching the episode before Captain Hook showed up. But, again, I am easily persuaded to do things based on gifs of attractive people being attractive. And I saw a gif of the kiss in Good Form. Which caused my brain to basically short circuit. So I started rewatching Once. And reading Once fic. Just a ton of Once fic. And one night I was like: could I WRITE Once fic? Spoiler, I could. I signed up for Ao3, picked the username WelpThisIsHappening because, apparently, it was and then when I got to Tumblr someone had that URL. Someone give me the one ‘l’ URL, please.

3. How long have you been on Tumblr?

Summer 2017? I distinctly remember walking into MCU Park, which is where a Mets minor league team plays in Coney Island, and telling my sister I was going to start posting fic on the internet. So, gotta be then.

4. Do you have a queue tag?

Yes! For the aesthetic, and only for the aesthetic. It’s a power play queue is because Sam Rosen says IT’S A POWER PLAY GOAL after, you guessed it, a power play goal. And I am nothing if not constantly trash for the New York Rangers.

5. Why did you start your blog in the first place?

My origin story got pretty much told further up, but mostly I needed a place to scream about fictional characters. And how much I want them to make out. Like, at all times.

6. Why did you choose your icon/pfp?

LOOK AT ‘EM, HOW COULD I NOT?? Mika Zibanejad is the only person who loves Chris Kreider as much as I do.

7. Why did you choose your header?

LOOK AT HIM, HOW COULD I NOT, PART TWO??? This whole shoot was one of the more awkward thing NBC has done as far as hockey promo goes and I love it. Whatta dweeb. I wish he had more hair.

8. What’s your post with the most notes?

Yeeesh, I have no idea. Probably something fic-wise. Maybe the first Blue Line chapter? Or that first canon fic I wrote? I genuinely don’t know.

Oh, God, these are difficult questions. Do people know that? Off the top of their heads?

Really, a lot more than I ever expected while walking into MCU Park and telling my sister I was going to post fic on the internet.
