how does high school work in the city?? do yall have open campuses?? like can you go anywhere during lunch? the idea is fucking unfathomable
#WE HAD A CLOSED CAMPUS IF YOU LEFT DURING THE SCHOOLDAY YOU COULDNT RE ENTER AND EVEN THEN THE CHANCES OF
#YOU LEAVING WERENT LIKELY CAUSE THERE WERE SECURITY GUARDS BLOCKING EVERY EXIT AT ANY GIVEN MOMENT
#AND THEN THERE WAS A GIANT PRISON-LIKE BLACK STEEL FENCE SURROUNDING THE CAMPUS WITH A GUARD BOOTH AT EACH GATE SO LIKE LMFAO
#whenever i try to think about how grade school works in the city im just like WHAT like. i just dont understand
#it seems SO radically different from grade school on long island in The Suburbs
#cause i swear i remember hearing about a story where kids in high school in the city actually had classes in separate buildings?!??!?!
#and they had to pay fares for the subway which was bullshit just to get to class
#I SWEAR I REMEMBER HEARING THAT and its like.. HIGH SCHOOL???
#cause ok i visited nyu in 2018 and like. ok. theres separate buildings then. often pretty spread out
#so you'd have to Traverse The City just to get to class yes. BUT THATS COLLEGE?
#college is different from hs like of course theres separate buildings and of course its an open campus
#LIKE... HIGH SCHOOL??????
#so like if you have to go to class in separate buildings then i assume its an open campus and youre allowed to leave to go eat
#lunch elsewhere?
#or just. hang out when you have a free period??
#but the idea is just. unfathomable to me. we were stuck in one singular building for 7 hours of the day
