WOW, I'm good. I was looking through Yeo Jin Goo's filmography on MDL, and it turns out he DID play a young Shin Ha Kyun, as a ten year old child actor, back in 2006 in a movie called No Mercy For the Rude.

Stuff about the Ballot:

Sera might’ve been happy enough supporting her boyfriend for the rest of time, uncomfortable in her lack of personal success but still not expecting much in the way of emotional support or attention. She only questions Minjae’s choices once they’ve broken up! There’s nothing about her original circumstances that make me believe Minjae wouldn’t have married her (although I’m equally willing to believe he would’ve made a political marriage), and only found out “too late” that her temper wouldn’t allow her to be a politician’s partner, because Sera was so understanding and docile with him. But instead she ends up with a guy who’s going to support her no matter what, and be a sounding board for her and help her become something in her own right.

I recently looked up the title 출사표 and found out it’s from an idiomatic expression that means something similar to throwing one’s hat into the ring.  출사표 is actually the Korean term for Zhuge Liang’s Chu Shi Bao, a “memorial to the throne” (where I think memorial means something like petition) that called for the Shu emperor to act defensively and go to war. “출사표 던지다” literally means to “throw the Chul Sa Pyo” (Chu Shi Bao) and from what little I understand in this video seems to mean (idiomatically) to take initiative. From the Chu Shi Bao wikipedia page it seems that Chinese also adopted part of the document to describe someone’s “commitment to strive to the utmost.” In retrospect, the trailers for the show played up this effect, with Sera essentially delivering her application to/call for “war.” I’ve noticed that Asian Wiki/etc (and even Dramabeans?) seem to be (more?) laissez faire about drama title “literal” translations... Like... Why does Asianwiki say that the “literal translation” of this drama is “the ballot”? Everything in this bullet is based on bumbling through research, but I would love to hear from someone fluent in Korean what actually comes to mind when they hear  출사표.

I appreciate that Sera’s female “rival,” Yoon Hee Soo, isn’t written to contrast with Sera in looks/beauty.  There are some limited styling differences, but I think it would be easy to emphasize that Hee Soo is elegant, for instance, while Sera is not.  However, their conflict is really centered on politics and class and that plays out through their opinions on issues and strategies. The tension between a woman who’s had to play by all the rules and a woman who stumbled into responsibility is interesting and genuine and doesn’t need the shallow embellishments that kdramas usually throw on top.

Sometimes trailers show up months before the premiere, but then sometimes there’s nothing until the week it airs. As far as I know, as soon as the trailers are uploaded on the official streaming channels, they’re added in the trailers section on asianwiki. So if there’s nothing on asianwiki page, it’s likely there is no video yet. If you’re too thirsty for the teasers, you can also go to the official youtube channels. Whatever they uploaded for the drama will show up if you type in the title in korean in the search bar. Here are the channels: SBS, MBC, KBS, JTBC, tvN, OCN.
