Genetically if drow have evolved to have better vision in the dark to the point where sunlight hurt their retina they should also have evolved to be lightskin (like white white) because if you don’t need to protect yourself from the sunlight you don’t need melanin.

But it’s a fantasy world and you obviously need the evil savage drow elves to be black.

#drizzt should have had hella sunburn anytime he stepped outside #that and probably skin cancer #also drow are short because they don’t get vitamin d from sun exposure and probably only from foods (otherwise they would be extinct)#naturally occuring albism would have been cool like having drow lack melatonin and they’re just scary white #but it would be harder to camouflage in the dark in being white #but they have already white shinny hair and they wear camouflage gears anyway #just in case: last sentence is sarcasm #i do find the drow race slightly racist.
