I recently rewatched tmnt 2012 and thought... wow, there's loads of fully rendered and designed shops in the background. Has anyone ever listed them all for reference?

Notes:
The episode timestamps might not be totally accurate since I was watching this on a... ahem... legal website.
The timestamps are from when you could clearly and obviously see the shop signs. Like, Ziga's is visible from like episode one but couldn't be clearly read.
Some of the comics were just in shop windows and not really associated with a character so be careful. That is not a list of every comic the turtles have read. Like the Timely Times has only been in the background, not read by a particular turtle.
There were LOADS of shops where the shop name was in Chinese (or Japanese, I don't know) and so I couldn't list. Most of the shops by the Chinatown arch weren't in english. That's why even Murakami's shop isn't listed here. Because the actual shop name wasn't in english.
Thanks for reading through this. Hopefully this was useful for... anyone out there.

I have never met my mother's mother (though apparently we met once when I was a toddler), I didn't even know her name until high school when my mom, drunk, went on a rant about her. She left when my mom was still in her early teens with little if not no warning. My mom still asked me if I wanted her to be invited to my high school graduation. When she was a teenager and angry at her mom, my paternal grandmother would sit her down and teach her how to make Christmas ornaments until she felt better like she was taught by the mother of her husband's ex-wife. I called that woman grandmother too, my craft room (living room) is filled to the brim with fabric and ribbons that were given to my grandma after she passed and I'm still teaching myself to quilt and make wreaths like she did. My first attempt at a quilt has fabric from what was once her stash and fabric gifted to me by a friend who knew I had an interest in sewing. When I cook with cinnamon, I still feel the need to warn him that he can't eat it, despite living on the other side of the country. I've made friends from every corner of the earth, most of them I will never meet, but we still share our cooking through descriptions and pictures and ask each other if we can have some. My fiance proposed to me back. years into our engagement, with a mug that says 'I drink coffee for your protection'. I drink exclusively tea out of it. They wrote a note with their finger on my bathroom mirror that says 'I love you' when they visited months ago and I carefully avoid wiping the mirror when I shower because I can still faintly see it in the steam. My hair has finally grown long enough to braid again and every time I do I think about how I learned to braid from my father, who taught me and my brother how to for a mother's day gift for our mother and his. People whose names and faces I've long since forgotten braided my hair in dressing rooms for pow wows I hardly remember because they saw I couldn't reach well enough to do it myself and offered to help. Whenever I watch Moana, one of my baby brother's favorite movies, I think of a friend I haven't spoken to since high school who that movie meant the world to because he saw himself in it. They dance similarly when 'You're Welcome' plays and I think they would adore each other. My brother wasn't even born yet when we last talked. The mother figure I fought with and felt unsafe around my whole childhood apologized for the way she treated me unprompted. We laugh together now and it no longer hurts when my mom says I take after her. The tmnt hyperfixation that has consumed me for more than a year is a rekindling of a love for the franchise I got from her as a child when she sat me down with her dvds of the 1987 cartoon. I sing the theme song with her and my three year old brother on long car rides. Her mother asks how my fiance is doing every time we ride home from work together. My brother asks me to ask her if she's seen whatever anime he's obsessed with any given time I visit. My friends on voice calls who have never met him and likely never will tease him the way I do and he teases them back. I think my brother has some magic power to turn anyone into a surrogate sibling if he tries hard enough. He and I both wear coats passed down from an Uncle that is no longer with us. I love him more than anything, I've now spent more of my life without him than with, my passion for puppetry is from him. My family shares a knowing nod when we get teary eyed over the Harry Belefonte episode of the muppet show. I've wanted to be a puppeteer as far back as my memory goes.
I miss my grandma's pumpkin pie, I think I'll ask her for the recipe again and hopefully not lose it this time. I'd like to pass it down to children of my own some day.

We live in a time when the lens through which fantasy is seen is departing from the eurocentric model that defined it for decades, if not centuries. Authors like Rebecca Kuang and N. K. Jemison are writing stories that depart from this trend, even rising to criticality of the model which dominated the genre before them.
I'm glad to see it.
For me, it was always an incomplete picture. I'd see these white characters growing toward a conclusion which would see them changing things for the better in whichever world they occupied, but I could never see all of myself represented. I'm mixed race. My mom is white. My dad is black and native American. The family tradition on my dad's side, when Thanksgiving rolls around, is to go to the pow wow in Atmore, Alabama after dinner, to reconnect with our indigenous roots.
My experience has been different. There is this sense among mixed race people that we are simultaneously part of multiple communities and also other than. Our experiences are not analogous. We are not, after all, of the same cultures. But there are some things that appear to be universal. This concept of identity is one of them. That we are always, constantly both part of these disparate cultures and struggling to fit in. The idea that, living outside the cultures we belong to, at least to some extent, gives us a unique perspective about the issues facing our cultures.
We live in our skin, facing unique challenges that come to define us, and this is a perspective I have not seen in the genre. So, I'm setting out to do just that. Bring representation to the mixed race experience into a genre which has not necessarily embraced the nuanced and often difficult lives we lead.
In addition to that, queer representation has largely been centered on lesbians. I think this is a result of straight people viewing lesbians as inherently asexual. But if we are to see representation for the queer community, it should be for all of us. Not just the L in LGBTQ. I've set out to do that too, featuring queer men, gender fluid or a gender people, trans people as movers of the plot in my own stories. This is, again, an area of focus that I haven't seen in my own reading. Which titles like A Song of Achilles are embracing. And while that gives me hope, I feel like I can contribute to the discourse by featuring those characters in prominent positions in my own stories.
Depicted is Dupec Safar, a character I created to satisfy both of these motives. First in representing the mixed race identity. And then in representing queer men in fantasy. I only hope this trend continues, and we see representation for both groups normalized and explored in detail.

I kinda had this theory that like, whenever historical depictions (in paintings, movies, video games, the like) want to show Old Norse, or Celtic peoples, sometimes they'll borrow (ie appropriate) aesthetics from Native North Americans to either fill in the blanks where there's unconcrete knowledge about those European cultures, or to make them look "cooler", or essentially to get it across that "these people are barbaric, uncivilized, and savage. Just like Native Americans". But then it turns out it's actually not a theory & the wider media has been doing this shamelessly for a while now.
You see this a lot like with alleged "Viking inspired tattoos" that often just steal from Inuit Tuuniit. Like that bullshit that runway pulled & called it "Viking"
Tumblr media
[Image ID: two photos stacked next to each other horizontally. The first on the left is of a White model on the runway with false tattoos, her forehead has two triangles entending in a downward, "V", while her chin has two vertical lines with 3 dots on opposite sides. The second on the right is of an Inuk woman with traditional tattoos, with the same "V" shaped tattoo on her forehead but more curved inward, and her chin has 5 lines running down it. The tattoos in the two photos are remarkably similar. End ID.]
I also think they did this with Tyr in the new god of war game
Tumblr media
[Image ID: screenshot of a promotional photo from the upcoming Santa Monica Game God of War Ragnarok, featuring the character Tyr. His forehead has the same V shaped tattoo as the above images, though with the innerside of the V being shaded in. End ID.]
And again with Eivor in Assassin's Creed Valhalla (alternatively, theirs also looks like Dene & Cree tattoos I've seen)
Tumblr media
[Image ID: screenshot from the Ubisoft game Assassin's Creed Valhalla, featuring the female version of the playable protagonist character Eivor. She is White & ethnically Norse wearing green metal armor, with a long scar on her cheek & a partially shaved with pulled back into a ponytail. Tattoos of 3 thick lines extend down her chin, similar to the photo of the Inuk woman in the first image. End ID.]
& then AGAIN with the show Barbarians, but this time with makeup (compare to how traditional pow wow dancers do their war paint using the same colors, if you're a regular pow-wow-er you'll know that red across the forehead with black lines or dots is a popular combo design)
Tumblr media
[Image ID: 3 photos stacked together vertically. The first is of a White woman, a character from the TV show Barbarians. She is wearing warpaint, with a dark streak all along her forehead and ending at her eyebrows, with black lines extending from her eyeliner across to her ears, 3 black lines going down her chin, and the rest of her chest completely covered in black. The other two images to the right feature 2 different Native men, one younger and one elderly, in traditional pow wow regalia. They both also have ted across their foreheads. The younger man in the middle ohoto has a black line just under the red paint going across his nose and cheeks, with dots underlining the line, and 3 black lines on his chin extending outward from a shared point starting from the center of his lip. The more elderly man in the 3rd photo has yellow and white lines underlining the red face paint, and black dots undernearth those. End ID.]
We don't even know what Viking or Old Norse tattoos looked like, but they WERE described as having tattoos in black and dark blue. Although, given what we've seen in their art, they PROBABLY looked a lot more like the designs and art as seen in their existing carving, woodwork, runes & other art. Even if historic Scandanavian people tattooed their faces, why would they look like Inuit or other Native tattoos? & that's not even getting into all these fantasy video games or movies that do this too.
We also don't even know what Celtic tattoos looked like, or indeed, if they even had any. But again, we can probably guess they looked like something similar to the other art they had. But then in the show Brittania you also get this.
Tumblr media
[Image ID: photo of a screenshot from the tv show Brittania. It features an elderly woman wearing a bluish white feathered headdress extremely reminiscent of Native American war bonnets. She is also wearing green jewelry and a feathered necklace. Characters in the background, while blurred, also have similar clothing reminiscent of Native American traditional clothing. End ID.]
???? LOOKS KINDA FAMILIAR. They did not. Have headdresses. This was also pulled apart as inaccurate by people who study historical costume on youtube, but you don't even need to do that to know this is inaccurate as hell an appropriation. She looks like those hipster, appropriative types who do this exact thing so they can post it on their blog from coachella or pinterest princesses with Viking moodboards full of white women in dreadlocks (because of course they are, of course they appropriate Black culture too) with feathers in their hair who look like this (you noticing a pattern here?)
Tumblr media
[Image ID: 3 images stacked together vertically. The 3 images have 3 white women dressed very similarly. The first woman is blonde, holding a wooden & furred weapon, with a feathered head piece, & a bone choker & breastplate obviously based off of Native American ones. She has white dots along her eyes. The middle photo features another blonde woman with matted hair 'dreadlocks' with bone jewelery in her hair, a leather bra, dark makeup with a rune on her forehead, and a dreamcatcher like ornament in her hair. The last woman on the right photo is black haired, with a red streak of makeup along her eyes, a single black line going down her chin, a red leather vest showing her cleavage, and wearing a black feathered headdress obviously nodeled off of Native American war bonnets, & with also a dreamcatcher like ornament within in. End ID.]
& istg I read an article online somewhere that said that when European artists started depicting Celts, they portrayed them like this, vs. A drawing of a Powhatan person on the right, so they based a lot of drawings of Celtic peoples on early drawings of Native Americans (if I can find it, I'll link it)
Tumblr media
[Image ID: two photos stacked next to each other vertically, they are both in very similar poses and are historical illustrations. The first features a celtic man with red hair and various tattoos. The second on the right is of a Powhatan man with a bow in his hand, with red tattoos on his body. While not exactly the same, the biggest similarity is on the Celtic man's legs, which resemble algonquian tattoos, like on the Powhatan man's legs and arm, with curved lines going up and down. End ID.]
So I guess what I'm trying to say is that this is actually weirdly prevalent & it's getting to the point where various medias are just getting waaay too comfortable with stealing more and more of Native cultures for the inaccurate, historical or fantasy worldbuilding AND without giving credit, and I wanted to point out how often it goes without criticism or notice

Cuz that's how they win sex outside the problem here is white hair girls Dallas-Fort Worth pay attention
You're not supposed to call the man that's right next to you the one that seems to the apartment right across from you that sleeps in the other house you're not supposed to call him out outside I need him dead
It's supposed to point at the sky and point at the satellite I need satellite maker dead and then one of his men will have to shut you up by raping you outside that's how you win sex
YOU JUST CHALLENGED INTO A FIGHT IT'S LIKE ME WALKING NEXT DOOR TO MY HOUSE KNOCKING ON THE DOOR AND PUNCHING MY NEIGHBOR IN THE FACE IS WHAT YOU GIRLS DID OUTSIDE
No I called it and you know what I got it back to shaking her head covid they went to walk away from me they start yelling at the satellite saying whatever they want nasty words and looking at the satellite and it worked
And we got them walking they walk past me and so I know it's them they would come back and walk past me again as if I'm leaving you forever
NO BECAUSE THEY HAD THE BABY POOP THE CITY THERE'S LIKE A HUNDRED OF THEM LIKE A THOUSAND OF THEM AND THEY DON'T KNOW ABOUT THEY'RE NOT THEY KNOW THEIR BROTHERS DON'T KNOW ABOUT BLACK PEOPLE
Right gold Son couldn't shower
I BELIEVE WHAT HAPPENED IN THESE WORLD NO SATELLITE MAKER GIRLS AND THEY WERE ALL BORN BLACK SUPPOSEDLY THE RUMOR IS I'M SUPPOSED TO LAND IN ONE OF THESE CITIES AND THE 3/4 SEEMS LIKE A PERFECT FACILITY because that's why I found her the white hair girl that was a little black skin boy's sister I've never seen her before in my life is the first time I met her here in 3 4 she was a natural born white hair girl and the house is in apartments in the steel towers
And I said oh no she's not going to make it if she gets on a plane at 5 ft I know her sister very well I raised her and if she knows another girl's coming into her city to live in her house she's going to kill her
WOW THAT'S SPECIFIC THIS WAS WRITTEN so we just tell the kids never to get on airplanes and wait for some man to come to the city and then blame all the murders of the boys on him. ONE HAND WASHES THE OTHER BUT WHAT IS ONE OF THOSE CANS IS BLOODY
THAT'S THE POINT I BELIEVE THESE SCHOOLS THAT THEY SAID THEY HAD TO BUILD ANOTHER PLACE TO HAVE START THEIR OWN FAMILY LIFE AFTER YOU HAD FISH ALL THE MIA FLAGS THE POW FLAGS ARE HUNG UP and it went into farming and having special schools for white hair boys and girls
But my girls on the beach and 90° they're outside in the bikini washing the cars. They knew everything they're the ones that pretty much wrote it for me all the antecedent energy of the boys and girls the men and women Grandma and Grandpa they never shut up about our songs
So it was weird because they didn't know outside remember when the satellite tells us about outside the boys are always teaching what satellite makers going to do when he gets his money
Yeah but if they don't get it they had it coming you know the rules cuz you know the black girls going to survive that fight. No white ops before 4 ft I think they have to do
Yeah give it time she just met her father
SO WHY DON'T YOU GUYS GO INTO CALLING ME FATHER TIME. I'LL JUST RECOVERY STUFF HELPING GRANDMA OFF THE TOILET GIVE IT A NICE CUP OF HOT COFFEE
I'll come on you think it's an accident I ended up with the most successful woman the oldest woman alive knows every trick in the book and accidentally inherited an army.
Woodstock how about your army of men fights my army of girls and you meet in my city hometown winds
There'll be nothing there but girls throwing their legs in here kicking you in the face and throwing their hands in the air punching your men in the face cuz they're weaker men
Are there any actors he has an army but he ends up with the most boys and isn't an army supposed to be all girls. And that's why we're getting rid of the Navy TV show NCIS and any and every sunrise either that or I burned down every school one or the other
If you don't like it there's the door don't let it hit you in the ass
But tell LAX 3/4 I charge them with what they did to the white hair girls but it was nothing compared to the fight that they were in over here and these tiny private schools of white privilege and we already told him our stance we do not believe in white privilege WASH YOUR P****
WHAT IS LITERALLY LIKE YOU HAND FEEDING A DONKEY IN A DONKEY COMES UP TO YOUR HAND AND STARTS EATING OUT OF YOUR HANDS AND THEN YOU GRAB THE DONKEY BY THE NECK AND YOU BREAK HIS NECK IN HALF AND CHOP IT UP AND PUT IT INTO SOUP
It was easier than taking candy from a baby
I'VE NEVER SAW SOMETHING MORE VIOLENT AND BRAVE IN MY ENTIRE LIFE I WAS SO EXCITED I ACCIDENTALLY CRIED ANGER TEARS AND HAPPY TEARS AT THE SAME TIME AND DIDN'T KNOW I WAS SO CONFUSED I still
But if this is about money and power and all you boys have to do is complain about my airplane parked at your airport for a few hours while I gas up isn't that the real war family satellite necklace flying over your city stop for gas and you people said no gas and he got to a fight
Makes a lot of sense to me other than sharing the same p*** tape to let the boys 2 years old get cell phones?
No but you guys are talented before antecated and energy and when it comes to money and power just because you go take a plane and you can drive to Orlando about 4 hours away AND IF YOU END UP WITH A WITH A CITY FULL OF MAN AND BE THROWN OUT OF YOUR OH THAT'S WHAT IT IS THROWN OUT OF YOUR CITY I WAS CHARGED WITH BIRTHRIGHT
Oh yeah back to the white hair girls and they were clueless outside OH THEY THOUGHT THEY COULD HAVE ANY MAN there it is
Because they thought they can have any man they wanted outside THAT'S WHY THINGS WENT TRAGIC AND MASKS WRONG #WRONG
Let me hear another example it's like the alligator the guy feed me alligator with the hand putting a piece of fish right now alligator's tongue and one of the times he puts the hand back in the mouth and alligator closes the mouth and bites the man's hand off
It was so innocent they had no idea they were walking into a trap
Blind side of The blind side now they don't look so heroic they look like any other boy or girl. I've been waiting to see more blind side after blind side just to say we love satellite maker
Yeah let me clarify that I never expect to say the white skin boys never Love A black skin satellite maker I meant to say the girls will never love any satellite maker
FYI JUST IN CASE
But Brian said at The blind side for this heartbreak and hearsay over I couldn't save my daughter that's not the worst of it I really fear every time I see one of these over here it's a bunch of old men I think we're back on the Ford base or or a retirement community
I saw a 6 year old man first time outside pretending to be a war general sick as hell thought he was funny the next joke he made he was hit by a car
YEAH YOU GUYS ALL GOT YOUR COVERT OFF OF REMEMBER THAT I'M OUT IN THE FIELD I WORK FOR MY MEAL WHENEVER WHEN THEY'RE FLYING INTO VIETNAM AND THEN AND THEN IN RUSSIA DURING THOSE TINY BOATS IN THE FISH LAKE AND THEY PLAY THAT WAR SONG YOU GUYS ARE LIVING A FANTASY A DREAM OF BEING ON THE MOVIE WE CALLED OUT DALLAS FOR CORONAVIRUS EVERY TIME I LEFT THE OPERATORS WILL BE ABLE TO WATCH ME AND SAY YOU DON'T DO THAT TO HIM AND I FELT I FELT THEY'RE CRYING BUT I COULDN'T FLY BACK CUZ I DIDN'T LIKE THEM
Yeah I'm on that I don't make the roads the roads make me kind of attitude now you know I don't need McDonald's McDonald's needs me
Yeah I quit I quit completely quit
No don't tell the boys I don't need them

I really appreciate your post about ndn tiktok. I dont usually mention that I'm native on tiktok because the few times that I had, I've had either 1.) White people demanding to know my blood quantum/tribe/etc even tho I literally just mentioned it in passing + it's not my focus content on tiktok (and I think this has to do with how comfortable white ppl have become in ndn spaces on tiktok) or 2.) White people telling me I'm not ndn because I don't talk about being ndn enough so I must just be mentioning it for clout or something (again, I think it's bc they feel too comfortable in our spaces).
At first I kinda felt bad bc im a reconnecting native so I felt as tho I had no say in the fact that I'm a little uncomfortable talking about native stuff on tiktok because of the environment there, but now that you've said something I feel like I can finally admit that I'm annoyed and I think it's making white people feel too comfortable in demanding things of natives/getting to decide who's native and who's not.
Its not that I don't think we shouldn't have ndn topics or culture at all on tiktok, but I feel like when its done, its done specifically for attention from white people & to gain social media attention. Its like that one post about someone mentioning a lot of tiktoks are just skinny people showing off how skinny they are.
But yeah its really stupid how demanding & entitled white people are comfortable with being towards ndns & our cultures online. Like when they're not being all "omg your culture is sooOo0Oo beautiful, tell me about this deeply personal and private cultural detail so I can appreciate it more" they're being racist. But it feels like a lot of ndns are giving into that. Like I've seen Inuk tiktokers being constantly bombarded with questions about what their tattoos mean, idk why white ppl feel so comfortable with asking that.
Like we DON'T have to tell them about our cultures, spirits, beliefs, or ceremonies, we literally don't, just because they asked (or even when they don't). But people keep doing it. Elders have told me about how they caught people filming ceremonies while it was in session (very VERY fucking taboo and disrespectful) they could post it to Instagram or tiktok or Twitter. Even all these tutorials about how to do thinfs like pow wow dance or other cultural things. I feel like the rise of pretendians & them tricking people succesfully partially comes from them just finding shit like that on social media, stealing life stories & info from ndns they follow on social media, & then building a fake persona to become a full time pretendian literally just from the info they learned from ndns online. It's really frustrating & annoying
