Tiberius nodded, a smile on his lips as he slid onto the seat beside her. He took a drink of the beer, setting the glass aside once more as he focused his attention on the witch in front of him. “I’ve been good. Reckon you wouldn’t, these days if I’m not at work I’m at home with the wife. I’m afraid to inform you as a married man I’ve grown rather boring.” He joked, a chuckle falling from his lips. “What about you? Tell me your life has been far more exciting so I can live vicariously through you.”
A warm smile grew on her lips, she was content with her small celebration celebration, welcoming all and any who'd like to join in. It was best this way to keep things on the fun side rather to let herself be consumed by the weighing thoughts and most terrible feelings. "That sounds lovely." Marlene agreed, clearing out the seat beside her so the wizard could join. "How have you been, Tib? Haven't seen you much around lately."

As October gave way to November and the leaves on the trees decorated the ground, the number of days leading up to exams seemed to dwindle faster. Dates that had once seemed months away were nearing with only the promise of mercy to those that took the time to study and actually pay attention to what the Professors were saying. Smaller assignments were attached to help keep the older material fresh while the newer concepts seemed to shout for more attention and yet, it was all suppose to make sense. Fall, as beautiful as it was, had a way of making life much more hectic than anyone really needed it to be.Â
The Library within the castle had become a place Ted would often visit when the Kitchens were too busy or the common room was far too loud although his notes tended to stay where they wanted; it was the library that saw Ted search for a place mildly empty table to start the small study guide professor McGonagall had graciously gifted them with. Searching for the right place to sit was crucial and while others found that any place worked for them, Ted was looking for a rather specific seat. It was only a matter of time until he found the table that had found itself housing a rather focused looking Gryffindor, “should I knock to be let into the house?” The small tease left Ted as he placed his books down on top of the table while his backpack rested on the ground. There was no malice in his tease, instead it poked at a joke he had made a few weeks back.
“How long have you been here?” The question came as Ted sat himself across from Marlene and a look was thrown towards the books around her. Marlene hadn’t been someone that Ted would have considered as particularly studious in years past but there was something different about her in their final year. It wasn’t his place to ask what was different and while he wouldn’t press into the matter, his offer to be study buddies had been a small way to sate his curiosity. “Have you started on McGonagall’s study guide or is that Slughorn’s essay? I swear you’d think we were behind schedule with how much they’re assigning.”  Â

"You definitely do if you wanna keep up with me." She told her friend, her tone clearly challenging and daring Marlene to match her in her level of tipsiness. Greta was alwas a giddy and cheerful drunk, her usual demeanor hightend. "Well I never say no to kissing."
"I'll have to up the game then." The witch stated, her words a bit slurred as she'd been drinking for a while now, but it was New Year's and they were all allowed this one chance to have fun without concers. Taking a swig from the bottle, she gave it back to her friend, laughing as she noticed Greta was quite drunk too. "We need to see who can handle more shots and someone for you to kiss."

Gideon had always gotten along with Marlene, both of their personalities similar in a way that made it easy for them to find common ground, be it at work or in their personal lives. And while she had always been a sociable person, he had noticed her light had dimmed recently, how could it not? With everything that had happened. So he had felt it his mission to work hard to get a genuine laugh or smile out of the woman. He chuckled, clearly amused when he noticed that she was drunk already. "Well, that is a resolution that is quite easy to strike off the list. You seem to have had a headstart, however. I don't know if I can provide you with the best night ever, but I shall try my best."

It had always come easily for her to get along with people, no matter their upbringing, personalities or even age. Marlene considered herself quite the sociable butterfly and had proved over and over again that she was fun to hang out with. Gideon was one of the people she had the most amusing times with, their humour quite similar and both laid back enough not to concern themselves too much to spoil what could be a promising night. So far, the witch had been drinking a little more than she should, but for the first time in a long while it was purely for the pleasure of it rather than a way to escape reality. So when she came upon the wizard, she waved her hand right in front of his face quite clumsily to catch his attention. "Oi, Gid, it's new year and one of my resolutions is to get sloshed with your pretty face. Just a tad bit, nothing over the top, just waking up with no memories except the feeling of the best night ever-- what do you say?"

It had been a long day at the Ministry. He could have gone home, but knowing that Cress would be at work for a few more hours, he thought it the perfect opportunity to stop and have a drink to wind down before he headed home. He headed up to the bar, his eyes going to Marlene as she yelled, a chuckle falling from his lips. He sidled up beside her, an amused smile on his lips as he took the drink. "How about this round on me in that case?" He lifted his glass to toast it against hers. "Happy Birthday."
where: the three broomsticks who: open to all
The bar was already buzzing, the air thick with the scent of butterbeer and something stronger. Marlene was perched on a stool, a glass of firewhisky in hand, her laughter echoing across the pub. Her blonde hair shone under the warm light and her blue eyes sparkled with mischief. "Another round!" she yelled, waving her glass. "To me! It's my birthday!" She threw her head back, the sound bright and carefree. "Twenty three, wait. It's actually twenty four." The witch said as she raised three fingers up, then four, a smile on her lips as she passed a full glass of firewhisky to the person beside her.

"I expected better from you Marls." She smiled proudly when her friend took the offered bottle. Greta always liked sharing with the people she cared about. She liked seeing Marlene in a good mood, giggling herself before taking a big swig. "You are soooo right."
A very clearly already drunk Marlene gasped exaggeratedly at the witch's words, a hand coming up to cover her mouth as she shook her head eagerly. "It's very shocking indeed that I'm not holding a bottle myself." She admitted, taking hold of the bottle she was being offered and taking a large sip, a giggle coming through as she gave back the bottle to Greta. "You and I should celebrate, Grets, it's the eighties."
