First Order Gossip

“So I was like, I have the credits, asshole. If I didn’t have the credits I wouldn’t be here! If I wanted to steal something ... you wouldn’t know!” Caez said, painting a vivid picture of their last mission. Apparently a particularly suspicious shopkeeper had given them a hard time when trying to buy supplies. 

“Perhaps you wouldn’t have to bother with backwater junk peddlers if you didn’t lose the supplies I send you out with.” Quipped back Lieutenant Arbuster.

“Hey, I didn’t come down here to talk to your sorry ass just so you can nag me about ‘responsible use of first order resources’ blah blah blah.”

“No, of course not. You just come down here to interrupt my work and gossip.” Arbuster murmered under his breath. He sighed, “Oh, don’t mind me, do go on.”

It had been several months since Lieutenant Arbuster had taken his position as requisitions officer for Lord Ren’s personal detachment. Long enough at least to stop berating his apprentice at all hours of the day over destroyed gear, though he still had the tendency to give them an earful post-missions. It was a matter of principle.

However, it seemed that his relatively relaxed demeanor had a few unexpected consequences. Chief among them being these increasingly frequent little visits Caez payed his office to vent their grievances about seemingly anyone and everyone who pissed them off.

He gave some protest at first but as with most things involving Caez he eventually resigned himself to just let them do as they pleased. He could work through the distraction and in all honesty the company began to grow on him. Not that he’d ever admit that to them.

They had been going on for a while now, he thought. He should chime in to make it seem as though he wasn’t completely toning them out.

“Yes, yes very interesting.” He said filing away the latest inventory report and pulling out another stack of paperwork.  He quirked an eyebrow at them, as much as he didn’t want to encourage them too much a question popped into his head. “Say, if you don’t mind me having a word in edgewise I’d like to know something. Out of all the people on this ship to bother with this why do you come all the way down here to talk to me? Hell, you could call literally anyone else on your comm and they’d probably be more responsive.”

Caez looked at him quizzically. “You don’t give enough of a fuck about my personal life to judge me about it, now shut it I’m at the worst part. This fucking asshole...” 

He kept his head down to his desk and let his mouth curve into a small smirk and let them continue as he worked.

So I realized I never uploaded this for some reason???? I think I was having issues with the file size because tumblr is dumb, but this time it just worked, so I don’t know.
