another call for a weird interview!
I’m doing a piece for Modern Farmer on python farming as a proposed solution for more carbon-friendly farming than traditional livestock, and why some people are advocating for pythons as a food source despite the ‘ick’ factor. i’m looking for a range of viewpoints, so I’d love to talk to people who:
have any knowledge about python farming
have worked extensively with pythons in a research setting
have hunted pythons where they are invasive (like the Everglades)
have eaten python/have cooked with it
have pet pythons (I’d love to hear what pros and cons you find in python farming!)
if your experiences are different but you think you could be a good interviewee, please still reach out!
DM me directly with your experience if you’d like to be interviewed. Please contact me by 8/2/2024 to be considered!

Did you play/do you play Neopets?
Want to talk about it as a research interviewee?
Hi all! I’m Manning, and I am currently working on my senior thesis! As you may have gathered, it’s about Neopets. I’m looking for individuals who would like to participate in my research as interviewees. Due to the nature of the study, it would be best if you viewed yourself as a committed or dedicated user (whether currently, or during your time as a user previously), who has spent multiple years on the site.
The interviews should not take more than three hours, and can be conducted in more than one session if needed. I will be asking about your experiences on the site, why you play(ed) it, and your feelings re: community (both online and offline).
If you are interested, please contact me at my institutional email ([email protected]), with the following information: your name; your age; your pronouns; and how long you have been a Neopets user, including the specific years.
Also, please answer the following questions with “yes” or “no”: may I contact you for the interview through email?; may I contact you for the interview through Skype?; may I contact you for the interview through some other website (Tumblr, Twitter, Facebook)?
Deadline for responses is October 28th, as I hope to conduct the interviews in the ~two week period after that.
If you could reblog/pass this along to anyone you think might be interested, I would really deeply appreciate it. (I’m thinking of posting this call on multiple platforms, so you might see it on Reddit as well.)
Thank you, from the bottom of my Neopets loving heart.

Call for Trans* Interviews--Chicago
Hola Amig@s! Today we're sharing with you a call for interviews. Please spread the word--RT, repost, reblog!
We met Stef last week at the first Soy Quien Soy: Trans Empowerment Collective meeting in Pilsen. Ze is a wonderful, compassionate listener. Ze is currently working on hir dissertation research at the University of Iowa in Iowa City. Ze is here in October to gather interviews from the varied and diverse trans* community that resides in and around Chicago.
Stef is trans* identified and is currently in U of Iowa's Sociology program--this research has been approved by their Institutional Review Board under application #201106701. Stef is interested in how trans folk (broadly defined) understand their identities, the communities we have built, and their relationships to others. Part of these interviews includes listening to your stories and experiences with medical & mental health providers. These are in-depth interviews to paint a broad picture of our trans* community in Chicago.
These interviews are open to the friends, families, partners, and allies of trans* individuals. Stef would be happy to hear their experiences as well.
Stef's email is [email protected]. Ze is working hard to be as flexible as possible when scheduling interviews--so don't pass this up! All and any information will be kept in complete confidentiality and respect.
Research done by us, for us is empowering, affirming, and necessary! There is a lack of research being done at the academic level on/about our communities. Let's strive for accurate information by participating in research. Please pass this forward--spread the word! Support community research initiatives and queer studies!
