Camel Safari: The Ultimate Checklist in Jaisalmer
The main reason for visiting Jaisalmer, is an ancient fort city, which rides camels through the rolling sand dunes of the Thar Desert. Some people will tell you that this is "very tourist" but I am not! I liked everything about it However, I hate to think that someone will come by Jaisalmer and only safari will do it. There is a lot in Jaisalmer, so give yourself enough time. I will share my experience with a camel safari in Jaisalmer and next time I will do different things.
PS: To ensure that you do not remember anywhere, check out my two-week Rajasthan tour program.
Camel Safari in Jaisalmer: Bookings
There are loads of companies offering safari and every hotel can connect you with a guide, but hotels are often taking commission. I suggest prices compare online, which people are telling you in shops and hotels. You can meet very cheaply, but I randomly booked the Royal Hotel through the Khoori docks for Rs 1500. It was more than my budget at that time, but I met one of my friends, who had pre-booked with him and could not change it.
If you want to book ahead of here, then the two largest booking points for tourism in India are Top Camel safari tours from Getyurguide and Vieter. Read the review before booking whether there was a problem on the tour. I am reviewing only the best people!
It is a camel safari overnight for $ 43 USD at Viator. They will pick you up and leave from your hotel. Snacks, dinner and breakfast are included in the next day. There is not a "departure tax" which is payable to the government to go to the desert.
If you want a camel ride but do not want to sleep out there, then you can see this more expensive tour, which is $ 266 and it is a day tour of the city's major attractions and is a camel ride in the desert. . This is really expensive for a one-day tour in India, so book it only if you are rich, because you can get better deals in the city!
Most tour itineraries look like this: ride up to the middle of the desert, watch the sunset, go to a setup hut for dinner, go back to a good high place to sleep on the couch, get up for the sunset, and return Ride.
It is mainly easy to ride a camel, but accidents can happen, just read this story of Liz Over Young Adventurous, who took himself seriously. I have prepared an ultimate checklist to make sure that you are ready for your safari.
Camel Safari: The Ultimate Checklist in Jaisalmer
Do research on companies and dunes. Know which dune is interested in you, and those who have grown up with Khoori is considered to be less full, and while we were outside, we saw only one-second group. I would highly recommend it. I have been told that Sam Sand Dunes were more crowded but did not know from experience.
If you arrange a tour before agreeing, make sure you know what is included. How many hours would you wait before going to the desert? Dinner is included? We went 2.5 hours. You do not have to go further. Your bum will hurt There was no change in the scenes. Will you each get your camel? Sharing will be boring, so make sure you have your cute cute animal to ride.
Do not drink cannabis before riding a camel, or you can come up with "Pakistani paranoia" which is a medical term that does not exist, but when your guide is "that is Pakistan" and the US State Department just sent it Is e-mail saying citizens should be clear for recent threats ... Many tourists use cannabis so that they can "ride a magic", just make sure they are not very strong Make and ruin your safari.
Wear sunscreen and wear sunglasses.
You can buy beer with sand-tout! He will come out on porn prices with cold drinks so far. Bring some extra cash to that, but in the desert, things get "disappeared" at night.
While on your camel, you want a silk scarf to cover your head. The sun beats you like a hammer. Because you are in India, your body will be covered mostly, so make sure you wear something. When I was there, it was over 100 degrees during the day.
Wear sandals but socks for the night. Your guide will lay down the cot, blankets, and pillows for you (make sure it has been agreed earlier) and it gets very cold in the night. If you have to walk to pee or watch the sunrise, then you do not want to walk barefoot. The desert sand captures cold air in the night from the Himalayas and does not catch on the sun's daily heat. There are large beetles and scorpions in the sand.
With that line, take warm clothes. It will surprise you how to get chilly.
Dinner was provided to our group in a nearby village, as it is for most. Make sure your guide agrees to feed you, and even if you want, take a snack. We also got a fire and dance show.
I wipe wet You will not be able to take a bath after your safari. You will become sweaty with a thin layer of sand. Before bed, I washed a little and I brought my toothbrush and brush with bottled water.
Your guide can tell you how fun it is to gallop on a camel. My guide is called "Haliya", in these high-rise noises, my camel's name is, and Halia was on a good jog. Have you ever seen the camel running? It's like their feet, which has no joint and flops around. It's rugged. The camel is higher than your imagination (10 feet!) And falling while someone is walking will not be ideal. On top of that, it can give you a "saddle sorrow". Why do not you warn before the camel ride? I had a throat pain for a week!
Take a lot of photos! Camels are super cute. I did not see a "spit" as they warn. I was extra lovely, even if he got out of hand twice. They are so cool animals!
Relax and enjoy the wonderful sunset and sunrise. I have traveled a fair amount and I have never seen a change in the day like this. It's really something, and if you are considering making a safari, then it is only to see the red sunrise and sunset on the dunes of the barren sand. Sleep very fast, because the sky is almost always clear and it is very necessary to stare.
If I could do it again:
I will not choose such a thing that you have ridden the village to eat. I will go with a guide who cooks on an open fire. It looks a lot worse and probably will taste better than what I had!
Essential travel tips for your Rajasthan trip
You do not need a visa to travel to Rajasthan (and entire India). I am a fan of iVisa for getting a 60-day visa. If you require a guide to get a visa for more than 60 days, then here are my posts for American citizens and UK citizens who want to stay in India for 6 months.
I advise you to visit India with health insurance. World Nomads' recommendation is made by Lonely Planet, Nat Geo and me! I've used it for years. You can get a quick quote here. See what it really involves and does not do.
If you are in India, you can also see my Guide to India, which is a 100,000-word ebook with 6 years of travel knowledge - will ensure that you have the most epic journey. Read more about it here.
Check this hostel guide in Budget Travel, India, which has top chain hostel brands which you will find in Rajasthan. Otherwise, I like to use Agoda to compare different hotels, which give great rates in India.
Those of you who want to visit the state, see G Adventures.
