Tomas de Visser (born June 28, 1992) is a Dutch pastry chef and Prometheus contract. He trained and worked in France for 7 years before moving back to Los Angeles. He’s most known for winning Masterchef US Season 10, and his role as Emiliano in The Boy Venus (2020). He secured his contract with Prometheus after his win from Masterchef in 2018, debuting with his cooking show The French Dutchman Kitchen (2019-). He soon started his acting debut in Heart & Soul (2019). He also currently runs his family bakery business de Visser’s Bakery in Beverly Grove, Los Angeles with his older brother Skylar de Visser, taking over from their parents.

Early Life

Tomas de Visser was born in Delfshaven, Rotterdam, the Netherlands to Markus and Francisca de Visser and have four siblings. He has an older sister, Isa, an older brother, Skylar, and two younger twin sisters Ade and Aleid. Both of his parents and all of his siblings are, or have been, in the culinary industry, where his parents started up a bakery. He spent his childhood in Rotterdam and moved to Los Angeles in his teenage years as his parents decided to migrate their bakery business from Rotterdam to Los Angeles. Tomas started learning to bake at a very young age alongside all his siblings in order to help with the bakery, and he grew a fondness for working with pastries. He graduated from Fairfax High School and forego further education to move to Paris, France at age 19 in 2011.

Career

Patisserie  After moving to Paris, Tomas first started up his own Boulangerie & Patisserie however it promptly closed in less than a year. He then started an apprenticeship under Romuald Beauvais at Maison Loulou as a junior pastry chef at age 20 and completed his training, working as a noteworthy pastry chef at Maison Loulou for the next 7 years that went on to bring the restaurant to one of the top rated emerging restaurants in Paris, seeing the restaurant through growing from one Michelin star to three by 2017. Maison Loulou join the ranks with their chefs under the top 100 Best Chefs awards, de Visser winning The Best Chefs Rising Star Award 2017 and nominated Best Pastry Chef. But in 2018 he made the decision to leave the restaurant and return home to Los Angeles to help take care of his father and the family bakery. de Visser’s Bakery is small but established and well known for its traditional Dutch bread and pastries and their famous Dutch cold drip coffee with home roasted beans, now run by de Visser brothers.

Masterchef US 2018 Season 10 de Visser appeared as one of the top 24 in the reality television program Masterchef US 2018. He was declared the competition winner on 20 July 2018, winning $250,000 and a contract offer with Prometheus and de Visser promptly signed on. de Visser appeared as a guest judge for Masterchef US 2019 and 2020, bringing in his desserts for a pressure test in each season.

Prometheus In 2019, de Visser debut in Prometheus as a signed contract with his cooking show The French Dutchman Kitchen, with guest stars in its second season like Julian Santiago, Charles Irons, Juno Benson and Luda Mae Kerrigan. The show is one of the top rated within its genre based on Prometheus ratings.

de Visser made his acting debut as Adam in the television series Heart&Soul (2019) which was nominated and runner up for Best Project for that season in 2019. He was a last minute addition and replacement for the role of Adam.

de Visser also was an extra in Prometheus’ film Hairspray 2019. 

In 2020, de Visser joined the cast for Jessamine Beaumont-Jackson’s film The Boy Venus as the lead role Emiliano. The project was later helmed by Julian Santiago as director and Claudia Marshall who was the cinematographer from the start, after the director Beaumont-Jackson’s unfortunate passing. The project still finished and premiered with critical acclaims. He won The Saturn Award for Best Breakthrough Performance for his role of Emiliano, which drew much polarized controversy and divide over his performance in the film. de Visser declined to comment and simply said, "how it's judged.. it's up to them, I just feel fortunate to be here and that Jess put his faith in me, as uh- stressful as that was." It is also rumored that he is in the talks for a role in the new up and coming war film Dunkirk in the Prometheus Fall Season 2020.

He started as a D lister and has shot his way up to Icon in 2 years. Despite also being awarded worst performance for his role as Adam, de Visser was seen as an emerging new contract with a strong cult following. Book There have been rumors for de Visser to be writing his first cookbook with Eve Austero’s involvement, though it is yet to be confirmed.

Personal Life

de Visser stated that he prefers not to discuss the interest in his relationships or family matters publicly, however his younger sister Ade shares frivolously through her recent found TikTok fame. Little is known of his personal life before Prometheus.  

Early in his Prometheus career, there had been rumors and photos taken of de Visser being very close to Prometheus escort Tatum Morgan, her appearances with him starts as early as his Masterchef days and the rumors and judgement spread like wild fire only for them to explain that she was his cousin. Some still hold on to the paparazzi claims, belief of something more. de Visser has flatly shot them down, with pictures of them as kids had been posted on Instagram wishing Morgan a happy birthday. 

In 2020 when asked in an interview coming from the discussion of his asexuality, he describes himself as demisexual though never saw a need to really use a label, he stated “in the environments I lived in - Dutch and French, it never really mattered.” It is rumored early on that he is dating fellow Prometheus actor Juno Benson, especially with the blow up of them caught kissing on de Visser’s younger sister TikTok video, both had declined to comment until their recent instagram announcement that confirmed they’ve been dating since October 2019.

Food Style

de Visser notes that his food style for his pastries and desserts is very experimental. His foundations are in Dutch and French cuisine but he enjoys pushing boundaries of flavor profiles and conceptualization, which was what he was known for, alongside his impeccable palate, during his Masterchef run. He states “I find so much inspiration from people, the people around me, the people I love, and conceptualize a dish from there. Food is more than just a plate to fill your tummy.” de Visser look up to and is inspired by chefs like Ludo Lefevbre and Reynold Poernomo.

                Alexander is a young man trying to make it as a successful artist in the big city, as far as he’s concerned life is pretty great. he has an amazing job, and he’s just moved in to an amazing apartment with his gorgeous fiancée Eliza. that is until a night of passion has Eliza turn Alex into a creature of the night.

                If your immediate response to the words “Love Bites” is to imagine Taliesin Collier half naked sprawled across satin sheets, then bazinga ! you know exactly the topic of tonight’s review !

                Beau Thomas shows that taking a risk on new actors can pay off, having new comer Taliesin Collier play opposite of Hollywood Royalty Vivien Barnes. Casting notable actors Chandler Barr and Avery Levinson as side characters in favor of the welsh actor was a bold choice that seemingly paid well.

                We begin with what seems to be a regular day for rather boring writer Alexander Madison ( played by Collier. ) who is seemingly having a hard time finding inspiration for his novel. we get a handful of information shoved down our throats in a rather delicate way. the film explains he’s only just moved in with his girlfriend, and that the two are engaged. ( we learn this when his mother calls to scold him about withholding the information. ) luckily for us the film picks up quickly from there, as we learn he is late for his date with girlfriend Eliza ( Barnes. )

                Things get steamy after the date leading, as the two fumble into bed. The scene ends with Eliza sinking her teeth into her boyfriend. ( a scene done in one take, as Barnes supposedly left a noticeable mark on her costar’s shoulder. )

                From there we see the transformation from human to vampire begin. it starts with Alexander’s skin becoming almost sickly pale, his eyes turning from their natural warm brown to a striking honey gold, enlarged canine teeth.

                To avoid spoiling the film further, I’ll stop my rambling here. ( though if you’re interested, Beau Thomas’ Love Bites can be found on Netflix. )

TLDR : The film follows Alexander as he adjusts to his newfound unlife, which really isn’t all that bad considering he gets to share a coffin with Vivien Barnes. From what our readers have said, still sparks nostalgia in many viewers, leaving it with four out of five stars.

THE CARRIE DIARIES (2013-2014),  AS SEBASTIAN KYDD

carrie bradshaw is in her junior year of high school in the early 1980s. she asks her first questions about love, sex, friendship and family while navigating the worlds of high school and manhattan.

freshly eighteen and ready to leave the modeling world behind, tommy took on his easiest job to date. who would ever know portraying a charismatic and good looking guy could be so easy? and most of all, fun. although the show lasted only two seasons, tommy would not have been able to land any of his future roles had it not been for the doors that the show opened up for him. (note: despite popular belief, the drama on set due to tommy’s fuckboy ways was not the reason for the show being dropped!)

if you asked theo about the project--about the plot or the characters or even where the movie took place, he couldn’t tell you a single fuckin’ thing. thankfully, it wasn’t really his job to know any of that. all he had to do was show up, throw some guys around, get thrown around, and run at the camera like a jackass. all in all, it was a pretty easy payday; the series ended up resoundingly popular, and having been one of the leads stunt doubles definitely looked good on his resume. he only worked on the last few movies in the series, there hadn’t been much need for stunt doubles until now as most of the action happened in the finale.

the only person he really hung out with on set was the other lead’s stunt double. she turned out to be a lesbian which was kinda a bummer cause she was hot af, but theo did end up giving her clem’s number cause he’s a real bro like that. she made the whole project bearable, always goofing off together on set and making fun of the actors. theo really has no idea what she went to work on next, but he lowkey misses her.

also he totally stole so many props from set, mostly stuff from the lead actor’s wardrobe cause the guy was a douchebag. theo still wears his sweet ass ray bans to this day.

Christian Béaugara

Prometheus’ former Points Analyst straight from the Cancellation Dept., Christian was tired of the number crunching and decided to hop onto the contract train. Choo choo, mother fucker! What inspired Christian? Micah Bates! As one of the leading technicians within the Special Effects Dept., Micah was and continues to help out the Cancellation Dept in their creative needs. He was living his dream, and Christian wanted to, too. He wanted to feel the same sort of exhilaration Micah got when a bomb went off, feel the same freedom that came with knowing your life was lived to the fullest, pushing boundaries and not papers! So, he became a contract with the intentional hope of one day having the best cancellation the world has to offer. With a high belief in an afterlife and an even greater love for the morbid, Christian is ready for Micah to start planning for his swan song.

― APOLLINE DE VERE as A PISSED-OFF SISTER in REVENGE, LA STYLE

it had to be one of the stupidest things juno had ever agreed to do. okay, maybe not as stupid as diy-welding a stage set for king lear, but it came close. barely a week into his first project, his co-star, apolline, asked him to help her ruin someone’s life. oh, and be an accessory to first-degree murder.

the story came out over a bottle of vodka in a props warehouse: apolline had an elder brother, julien. much like juno, he grew up on the stage -- the ballet stage in paris; they both did, though he’d always been the shining star. siegfried, albrecht, the beast, while she was never more than a cygnet, content to simply bask in his light. after each performance he’d put on little sketches of his own, comedy pieces for his little sister’s eyes only. it felt like the perfect world.

when julien’s cystic fibrosis ended his dancing career prematurely, he went into acting. first in niche, french indie films, but then he packed up and moved to la -- of course, apolline came with him. she always would, even if meant sacrificing her own life on the stage and becoming a choreographer. all she needed was for him to stay with her -- and he did, even as he reached dizzying new heights. until he didn’t.

it was a stupid accident. not cancellation, not cystic fibrosis, but a fucking bar fight that got out of hand. before she knew it, her brother stepped in to break it up -- and before she knew it, he had a knife in his left lung. before she knew it, he was dying in her arms, suffocating in his own blood before the ambulance even reached the hospital.

as soon as his ashes had been scattered, she signed a contract. she started plotting to get back at the man who had killed julien, to make him feel the same pain. all she wanted juno to do was seduce the man’s wife, and lead her up to the roof of that very same bar.

he said yes. when the wife’s broken body was found on the pavement, he tried not to think about what he’d helped her to do -- the husband’s distraught face on the news was proof enough that her plan had worked. life ruined; they never really managed a friendly relationship after that, but she was grateful enough to not push it. they went their separate ways, and before long juno found his own life spiralling out of control. but what about apolline? she kept working, kept fighting to rise up the leaderboard, kept visiting her brother’s star every day. the only thing that keeps her going now is the knowledge that he never got to live out his dreams. he never got to put the ring he carried in his pocket for weeks on his fiance’s finger -- so she did. he never got to kiss his husband under the hollywood sign, so she took her wife there. he never got to see the system dismantled.

― CARYS BATTERSEA as JENNIFER ROBERTS in WALLS

prometheus really took a gamble when they picked up a script written by scruffy, 24-year-old, post-rehab (for the third time) jess. even more so when they allowed him to direct it -- a low-budget horror movie based on the yellow wallpaper by charlotte perkins gilman.

if it hadn’t been for carys, the film probably wouldn’t have succeeded. precious few of the cast really cared about it, jumping on the project for easy points -- but carys was different. her performance as the protagonist, ‘paranoid schizophrenic’ jennifer, was bone-chilling and visceral, stunning critics with her commitment to the role. as one of a rare collection of female method actors, carys carried this devotion over to other projects; time and time again, she was working with jess, their combined obsessiveness producing more disturbing, psychological projects. 

nowadays, the two of them don’t see much of each other. no-one sees much of carys; she doesn’t come to premieres or awards ceremonies, appearing only in the public-choice dares, where she sliced her way through her companion contract’s pet rabbit with little hesitation. her cult classic movies are enough to keep her out of danger -- but there are darker whispers about her. fan theories, scribbled notes on her psychological evaluation that never saw the light of day. you could place the blame on her own obsessive personality, the stress of stardom, even jess and their toxic partnership, but there’s one thing every gossip site agrees on: carys is a little bit crazy.

Further investigation into Mr. Irons’ personal life reveals that he comes from a family that is staunchly pro-cancellation. As stated by Mr. Irons himself, Mr. Jackson-Beaumont was anti-cancellation.

Further investigation into Mr. Santiago’s life reveals that he has a known temper, demands control, and is possibly prone to jealousy. The Boy Venus was his project’s main competition being released, and it has been stated by another witness that they had overheard a heated argument between himself and Ms. Marshall, a shared cinematographer between the two projects. In addition, there had also been mention of a possible disagreement between himself and the deceased himself, but the details are vague as to the topic.

I met him once or twice at a party. We don’t--We didn’t have a personal connection. He didn’t seem to like blondes and I’m not a fan of druggies, so it worked out.

No one comes to mind, but it’s not hard to figure out this wasn’t murder if that’s what you’re thinking of. Whoever is out there is taking down contracts, not directors. Wouldn’t you think if that were the case that Julian would be the first one on the hit list? Please. 

Are you familiar with narcotics?:

I’m not, and I couldn’t possibly imagine anyone else here that is. That’d just be sad.

To the best of your ability, do you remember the last time you saw Mr. Beaumont-Jackson?:

Hm... It must have been the day before he died. I saw him on his set for Boy Venus. I was visiting a friend. I didn’t pay much attention to him. He wasn’t at the top of my priority list.

Further investigation into Ms. Bellamy’s life reveals that she had audition for a role in The Boy Venus but was not given it. Also has a personal vendetta against their lead Tomas de Visser, who Mr. Beaumont-Jackson was reportedly to have selected specifically.

Seventh Son (2015)

A completely unremarkable fantasy film. The only thing that makes this film worth talking about is that it was the last film of actress Ursa Matrice , and therefore the first dark stain on Anthony Funke-Flynn’s discography.

Cooper had wanted to be there, at Ursa's cancellation, and Ant had begged him not to. It was bad enough that Cooper had to be the one to hunt the Contracts down; Ant didn't want him to feel like Ant's sins were his burdens, too.

The weather is gray, but it doesn't rain, which Ant finds fitting. The whole problem with the project was that it had never been enough of anything. Not scary enough, not romantic enough, not fun enough. That was what had killed Ursa. Even if it had been bad, at least they would have spoken her name.

But the world knows how to hurt them the most, so the sky is calm and slate above them. Even Ursa's Cancellation is nothing special, a quiet execution in a concrete amphitheatre-- It's taken everything Ant has not to throw a punch at the director running the thing. He couldn't be bothered to keep her alive, but this is the death he gave her?

Even with Cooper at home, Ant isn't alone-- Both his hands are wrapped in someone else's. On his left is the costume director, who gave Ursa the most beautiful dress Ant's ever seen. On his right is Madeline, Ursa's best friend and makeup artist. He watched them do Ursa's hair this morning, crying and pressing kisses to each other's cheeks.

He doesn't know either of the women very well, and honestly doesn't know Ursa, either, but in this moment they are his family, and they are losing one of their own.

The recorded notes of his composition drown out Ursa's screaming just enough that they can only hear the most frantic of her cries. The violins swell and Ant, with his eyes shut tight, loses her voice amongst them. When they fade again, forte to piano, her notes are nowhere to be found.

She's gone, swept away by the river of sound.

Madeline weeps and clings to his arm. Ant's left hand has long gone numb by how tightly it's being held. And Ant sobs, eyes still closed. He doesn't open them when Madeline leaves, dragged out by nurses, or when the costume director says goodbye. Not when he can smell the sanitation buckets or when the Cancellation agent comes by to shoo him away.

Ant opens his eyes when everything goes still and quiet. He's alone in this concrete box, but there's a stage and Ant knows what to do. He makes his way down the stairs, climbs over the weak metal fencing. The sun sets behind the far wall as Ant's feet hit the stage.

He lowers himself to the floor, stone cold even through his clothing. Ant breathes in, looks out into the concrete box.

Like a tomb, he thinks, and feels a little safer.
