Recruitment is the process of finding and hiring the most suitable person for a job. Online Test
The online test includes questions from Quantitative ability, Reasoning and Verbal Ability. . Each section of the test i.e. Quantitative Ability, Reasoning and Verbal Ability has specific time allocated to them and all questions of that section needs to be completed in that specific period. The candidate can attempt questions in any order in a particular section but cannot move among the sections which means that candidate has to finish one section first and then he / she can move to other sections.
Group Discussion Round
The students who qualify the online test are called for Group Discussion Round. In this round they will give a topic, to put your views either in favor or against that. By this round they want test communication skills of students. They just want to check your self-confidence so be calm and speak confidently. Sometimes this round is JAM (Just A Minute) round as a substitute, in which student would have provide their view in one minute on the topic given to you.
Technical Interview
The candidates who clear GD round are forwarded to Technical round. This round checks your concepts and how sound you are technically good. Questions will be from different subjects. One should be prepared with Data structures and Algorithms, DBMS, Operating System, Networking, OOPs concepts and a programming language of your choice. Students from branches other than CS should prepare basic concepts of their branch.
HR Round
This is the final round of the hiring process. Questions concerning your resume, job and company might be asked with basic HR questions like ‘What are your Career Goals?’, ‘Why Particular company?’, ‘How you see yourself after five years from now?’, ‘What are your strengths and weaknesses? ’ etc. They will check your communication skills, confidence and attitude. Be clear and confident with your thoughts and you will ace this round easily.

IT Slow down in India or a pressurization technique to maximize profit?
             Recently a lot of news are being published, almost on a daily basis in leading dailies, about a probable mass layoff in Indian software companies.  On Feb 16th 2017, Capgemini India’s chief executive Srinivas Kandula stated that 60-65% of IT employees are not trainable. The statement immediately formed the headlines of all major newspapers in India. After almost a month, on March 20th, the news about Cognizant (CTS) laying off around 6000 work force caught the headlines. Further after a month, at the beginning of May 2017, news about other IT biggies of India, namely TCS, Infosys and Wipro planning for large scale layoff sent shivers down the spine of many software engineers of India. Here it must be noted that earlier this year Tech Mahindra suspended annual appraisal reviews of associates above 6 years of IT experience. TCS has also not declared the annual appraisals of ‘Associate Consultant’ rank and above (Typically above 10 years of IT Experience) for FY 2016-17.
                Let us first understand the nature of Indian IT business. TCS is the biggest software exporter of Asia with a 17bl$ revenue. More than 53% of its revenue comes from USA. Infosys has over 60% of its 10bl$ revenue coming from USA. Many other big software companies have upto 80% revenue dependency on USA while a large number of small IT farms have 100% of their client base (and revenue) coming from USA. So if there is so much dependency of Indian software industry on USA geography, then the layoff news in IT must have its roots connected to USA. Right?
            Here no prize for guessing, one of the major reason for the jitters is the newly elected President of USA, Mr Trump, who was elected in November 2016 and sworn in January 2017. Unlike politicians of India, who forgets the election manifesto after being elected, business tycoon turned politician-Mr Trump is actually working on to keep his pre-election promises. One of the major action item that affects the Indian software industry is his promise to keep jobs at home (i.e. at USA), to curb H1B visa quote, increasing tax base for companies outsourcing to other countries and so on. In the past, there has been multiple instances of USA Visa misuse by Infosys, and probably to please the Trump govt, Infosys recently announced 10,000 workforce hiring in USA that could also mean a job cut in India. To add to the woes, the recent hype around Digital technologies, Artificial Intelligence, Robotics and automation, that could do work of many employees, may also trigger a job cut.
           However is the situation really bad as it sounds? or is there a hidden agenda for all these buzzs around layoff? Let’s analyze the same from a different angle. The Capgemini India’s chief executive stated as many as 60-65% of the India workforce is not trainable. We expect the Chief Executive of a company of repute not to give any loose statement, which means there must be reasons behind his belief. Going by his logic, 6-7 lakhs of 10 lakhs Indian software engineers working in USA must not be re-trainable. Which also means more than half of the Indian software pandits working in Google, Sun Microsystem, Oracle, Microsoft, and many other companies of repute are dumb. Phew! I believe probably Mr. Kandula may have been asked to retrain himself in a new skill set which he found too difficult to learn leading to this statement. If there is any seriousness in his words, then what did he do with the 60-65% of Capgimini India’s 85000 strong workforce? How many were laid off 50,000? 5000? 500? Or less than 50?.
            One of the major reasons of layoff has always been economy slowdown. Currently world economy is growing a 3.6% which is on an increasing trend since 2015. There has been a stock market rally in USA since last 8 years (Since last recession in 2008). USA economy is not moving at an impressive rate; however there is no sign of recession either. In anycase, It won’t be too easy to cut down Indian Software engineers’ positions at USA due to skill gap in USA. For many companies, the location of operation is insignificant in comparison to their cost of operation. Instead of increasing the workforce at USA, some companies may shutdown their development unit in USA. Finally it’s not the cost, but the quality that matters. Indians have a distinct edge in both when it comes to software development.
           Now coming back to the news about job cuts by other biggies like TCS, Infosys and Wipro who have combined employee strength over 7.5 lakhs, a 5% staff reduction could mean 35000 layoff. We have no such news as of now. What we are hearing is a probable (yes probable) layoff of a few thousand people (i.e. less than 1% of employee strength).  Imagine yourself as an entrepreneur with 100 staffs. Is not it normal to fire at the minimum 2-5 employees per year for non performance or other reason? Are you fearful of getting a pinkslip because you believe you can be among that 1% of resources from bottom?
           If there is no underlying reasons of layoff and the layoffs are actually not happening at large scale then why is there so much noise about the same? The reason could be profit margin. As Mohandas Pai recently pointed out, the Indian IT companies have ganged up to keep the fresher’s salary low (which meagerly increased from 2.25 lakhs to 3.5 lakhs in 2 decades). By creating a panic situation among the employee, this time the software companies have been successful in suspending all the promotions and hikes for this year (even though the higher management keeps revising their own salary by staggering numbers). We all save money for rainy days. All the desi tech giants are sitting on hefty cash balance. Even if there is a slowdown in revenue, shouldn’t the companies use their cash balance in the difficult time, rather than cutting salary of a young software engineers who already are drawing an underpaid salary? Rather the IT giants chose to go for the buyback method in share market to please the investors.
          Usually in Teaching, Law and Medical profession, the experienced professional commands more salary and respect. Due to the pressure tactics of the Indian IT companies, and replacement of senior resources with freshers, the experienced professional are in jeopardy now. There is a 10-12 level deep hierarchy that runs in most of the desi companies from developer till CEO. Interestingly only after 3 or 4 level he billability stops. All senior managers like Business Relationship Manager, Client Partner, segment head, cluster head, Vertical Head etc are non billable but they draw eye poping salary earned by the junior employees. If there has to be any restructuring and layoff, it should happen at this non-billable layer to make Indian software companies more competitive.
          Yes the companies may succeed in stopping all hikes and increments for years by adopting these pressure techniques. However what trends are these companies  setting for the next generation? In future, would any of the current workforce recommend their friends and foes to join IT? 
           To conclude with a word of wisdom, believe in yourself. Prepare yourself in latest technology. There would always be demand of people in the IT industry. You may be out of a company, but you can’t be out of the Industry. As the famous saying goes in IT companies, “Love your work, don’t love your company, you never know when the company stops loving you”.
