Via @caribbeanfilm 📽 #CaribbeanCinemaNights w/ @printbyprint ... we're back at @hiartsnyc, this Saturday, July 7, with films on #CaribbeanFolklore: Parish Bull by @rastingle Michael, is the PARISH BULL!!! Confident, charming and without scruples, Michael is not afraid to make his bed, but he may be afraid to lay in it. and The Coming of Org Movie by @davinaleefilms “THE COMING OF ORG,” is based on short stories written by John Robert Lee, a Saint Lucian writer. They were adapted for the screen by his daughter, Executive Producer and Director, Davina Lee. The story takes a look at three different people who come face to face with their inner demons in three separate ways. The movie highlights Saint Lucian folk stories and music, with most of the dialogue in French Creole. Get your tix at brownpapertickets.com, and come join us for a fun night! TONIGHT @hiartsnyc 🙌🏾 #CaribbeanCinemaNights, with @printbyprint and @caribbeanfilm will be bringing you 3 films: Scars Of Our Mothers' Dreams, by Meschida Philip "SCARS OF MOTHERS' DREAMS," is a film which offers a unique, intimate glimpse into the complexities of parental migration through the lenses of children left behind. Years after her own personal struggle to overcome the feeling of childhood abandonment, filmmaker Meschida Philip returned to Grenada in search of others with similar childhood experiences, to find out how their lives were impacted after their parents migrated. Passage, by Kareem Mortimer “PASSAGE,” tells the story of a young woman and her brother fighting for survival while being smuggled into the US on a fishing vessel. and "The Seawall" A Film by @i.am.mason_richards “The Seawall,” a narrative short film shot entirely on location in Georgetown, Guyana, tells the story of Marjorie, a Guyanese woman, who is preparing for her 10-year old grandson’s move to America to be with his mother. Struggling with loneliness, and abandonment, audiences watch as Marjorie sacrifices her happiness for her grandson’s future. As part of the screening, Tamara Best (@i_am_tinytam), of The Daily Beast, will sit in conversation with Meschida Philip (@meschidaphilip).
