Conozca los postulados a rectores del CNE (+Listado)

Los nombre de los 75 postulados y postuladas a rectores y rectoras del Consejo Nacional Electoral (CNE) que pasaron la etapa de evaluación realizada por el Comité de Postulaciones Electorales, fueron dados a conocer por el Comité de Postulaciones Electorales de la Asamblea Nacional (AN).

El Comité informó que de las 75 postulaciones que superaron esta etapa, 47 pertenecen a la sociedad civil, 10 a las universidades y 18 al Poder Ciudadano, cumpliendo así con el artículo 26 de la Ley Orgánica del Poder Electoral.

Cabe destacar que este miércoles, el vicepresidente del Comité de Postulaciones Electorales, diputado José Gregorio Correa, precisó que la lista con los nombres de los venezolanos seleccionados como elegibles se podrá impugnar durante 6 días, quienes tendrán ese mismo tiempo para hacer los descargos de las objeciones.

El Consejo Nacional Electoral está integrado por cinco (5) miembros, denominados Rectoras o Rectores Electorales, cuyo periodo de ejercicio en sus funciones es de siete (7) años. Son designadas o designados por la Asamblea Nacional con el voto favorable de las dos terceras partes de sus integrantes y podrán ser reelegidas o reelegidos en sus cargos hasta un máximo de dos (2) periodos adicionales, previa evaluación de su gestión por parte de la Asamblea Nacional.

Miguel Cotto Look-back Part 1

Miguel Cotto debuted against Jason Doucet in Austin Texas on February 23, 2001. He was considered a major prospect so his debut fight was televised on a Friday Night Fights ESPN card. Puerto Rican flag look for Miguel for his knockout win:

He repeated this look against Jacob Godinez a month later in Fort Worth, in New York against Waklimi Young, below (highlighting all-blue back of his trunks), and in San Juan against Martin Ramirez.

He wore Cleto Reyes gloves...

and dark shoes in each of these fights.

He switched it up against Rudolpho Lunsford in San Juan, opting for white trunks with COTTO across the waistband, red and blue stripe along either side and a Puerto Rican flag on the front right thigh:

He repeated this look against Arturo Rodriguez in Los Angeles in July of 2001, before switching up to black with silver trim (and a Puerto Rican flag) against Joshua Smith in Caguas for his 7th consecutive win and then again versus Sammy Sparkman:

He fought Justin Juuko on June 22, 2002 on the Barrera-Morales II undercard in Las Vegas. He had a white + Puerto Rican flag look. COTTO was across both the front and the back waistband (the only feature on an otherwise blank backside) and a Puerto Rican flag design on the front right leg.

Cotto repeated this against Carlos Alberto Ramirez in Concho, Oklahoma before going full Puerto Rican flag back in Vegas against John Brown on the De La Hoya - Vargas undercard:

Back in Puerto Rico, he went all red (save for COTTO in white across the waistband and a Puerto Rican flag on the right thigh) against Ubaldo Hernandez on November 22, 2002:

He then added a white waistband, white stripes and a FILIPENSES 4:13 Bible reference along the front left for his fight against Cesar Bazan in February 2003.

Cotto went to all-blue against Joel Perez in Fresno California two months later:

A fascinating tiled Puerto Rican flag look versus Rocky Martinez for their tile in Bayamon:

Miguel sported a gray, black and red look for his 17th professional win against Demetrio Ceballos in Las Vegas in September, 2003:

He went red fronts and blue backs against Carlos Maussa in Bayamon, and had COTTO written across the front of the trunks in cursive - almost in a Thai kickboxer look:

In Las Vegas in February of 2004, Cotto quickly dispatched with Victoriano Sosa in an unfamiliar get-up:

He then beat Lovemore N’dou in Vegas less than three months later in a more subdued white and red look (btw - Lovemore’s vertical stripes are great!):

This win would set up Cotto’s first title shot...

Pachuca de Soto, Hgo.- Este día como resultado de un acuerdo político, sin convocatoria pública y a propuesta de los legisladores, el Congreso del Estado, aprueba los dictámenes a través de los cuales se designa a los integrantes de los Concejos de Administración Municipal interinos que a partir de mañana asumirán las funciones de los actuales presidentes municipales, síndicos y regidores que integran los ayuntamientos, en tanto se realiza el proceso electoral.

MS-13 Gang Accused in a Gruesome Murder Spree Around LA

Citing a gruesome series of killings in Los Angeles in which one victim was dismembered and whose heart was cut out, a federal grand jury has indicted 22 alleged members or associates of the notorious MS-13 gang on charges that include racketeering and murder.

Five of the seven killings outlined in a new superseding indictment involved the victims’ bodies being dumped in Angeles National Forest, according to court documents.

The new 78-page grand jury indictment says 22 alleged members and associates of the MS-13 Fulton clique, based in the Los Angeles suburbs of the San Fernando Valley, engaged in common street gang business: narcotics sales, robberies, burglaries, and extortion schemes.

But the indictment also details how those charged used horrific violence to control members, protect territory and intimidate rivals.

Memorial Service Planned for Ross Perot in Dallas

The case is the culmination of a two-year-long investigation by the FBI, Los Angeles Police Department and Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department.

U.S. Attorney for the Central District of California Nicola T. Hanna and other officials are expected to provide additional details at a news conference Tuesday morning.

Named in the indictment are German Arnulfo Cruz Hernandez; Angel Amadeo Guzman; Ever Joel Morales; Fernando Garcia Parada; Jose Baquiax Alvarez; Kevin Villalta Gomez; Kevin Arteaga; Edgard Velasquez; Walter Chavez Larin; Yefri Alexander Revelo; Wilfredo Vides; Gerardo Alvarado; Roberto Carlos Mendez Cruz; Bryan Alberto Ordones; Roberto Alejandro Corado Ortiz; Edwin Isaac Mendez; Josue Balmore Flores Castro; Luis Arturo Gonzalez; Edwin Martinez; Steven Emmanuel Linares; Marco Antonio Ramos; and Erick Eduardo Rosales Arias.

Formed in Los Angeles in the mid-1980s, MS-13 or Mara Salvatrucha, has a footprint in at least 10 states – including California, New York, Virginia, Maryland, and Texas – as well as several Central American countries, including El Salvador, Honduras, Mexico and Guatemala.

Fulton is one of at least 20 subsets, or cliques, of the gang operating around Los Angeles, and federal prosecutors said it modeled itself after a subset of the gang in El Salvador known as “503.” That group broke away, the indictment alleges, and became more violent after the El Salvadoran government tried to quell violence by arranging a secret truce with older MS-13 leaders.

Salvadoran MS-13 members who were recent arrivals to Los Angeles often identified with the 503 group and joined together with Fulton clique members to carry out the slayings detailed in the indictment, the court papers allege.

In Los Angeles beginning in 2017, MS-13 members who identified with the 503 group had been required to kill a gang rival or “someone perceived to be adverse to MS-13” in order to be initiated into the gang, the indictment says.

The indictment also suggests that Fulton group operated differently from other MS-13 cliques in Los Angeles.

"MS-13 in Los Angeles was distinct from MS-13 cliques in other parts of the country, because in Los Angeles, MS-13 had to pay extortionate rent payments to the Mexican Mafia, to which MS-13 swore fealty," the indictment states.

Among the seven murders at the center of the 12-count indictment was the killing of an individual identified by the initials "J.S.," who federal prosecutors said was choked and dismembered in March of 2017 for crossing out MS-13 graffiti.

One alleged gang member "carved out J.S.'s heart," and others "threw J.S.'s body parts into a canyon" in the Angeles Forest, the indictment says.

A month later another victim, identified as G.B., was struck on the back of the head with a pistol and then hacked to death with a machete, according to the court filing. His body was found close to the first dump site in the forest.

Federal prosecutors said some of the MS-13 gang members suspected G.B. was an informant. The indictment says that MS-13 had "zero tolerance" for members or associates who cooperate with law enforcement, and that once suspected a "green light" could be issued by the gang authorizing them to be killed on sight.

Another murder followed in June of 2017, when a man identified in the indictment as E.H. was killed with a machete and a knife.

Authorities said non-gang members were also targeted, including a 34-year-old homeless man who was shot to death in January of 2019 in a North Hollywood park claimed by the gang.

Court documents said some of those charged posted photographs and messages to Facebook and other social media that appeared linked to the violence. Images showed the alleged gang members posing with weapons and in gang attire, and some of the pictures were taken close to the murder scenes and body dump sites.

Multiple law enforcement sources told NBC News that in addition to the murders detailed in the indictment, investigators believe the number of killings connected to the gang could be much higher.

The charges in the new indictment include allegations of a racketeering conspiracy against some defendants, murder and violent crimes in aid of racketeering.

MS-13 was formed in Los Angeles in the 1980s by refugees who fled civil conflict in El Salvador, and it is organized in a loose structure of cells or "cliques," that control specific territory, according to a 2018 report by the Congressional Research Service.

The gang became international as members were deported from the United States to Central America, and since 2005 law enforcement officials have estimated its membership in the U.S. at around 10,000 members, contradicting suggestions that it has grown in the U.S. in recent years, the report said.

MS-13 was named a transnational gang in 2012 during the administration of President Barack Obama. The Treasury Department announced it was targeting the organization with sanctions at that time.

Carta Abierta por el injusto despido de María Inés Rodriguez del Museo de Arte Contemporáneo de Burdeos

En días pasados nos enteramos del despido intempestivo de María Inés Rodriguez. Aquí la carta que ha estado circulando en francés e inglés e donde varios artistas, curadores y profesionales de museos de arte invitan a adherir la carta y protestar por el injusto despido a Maria Inés Rodríguez del CAPC de Burdeos

El 8 de marzo, el día internacional de los derechos de la mujer, nos enteramos por la prensa que Maria Inés Rodríguez será pronto retirada de su puesto como Directora del CAPC, Museo de Arte Contemporáneo de Burdeos. En Francia, el número de mujeres directoras, presidentes y cabezas de instituciones culturales es tan pequeño, que este anuncio marca una regresión más en la paridad del fuertemente masculino mundo del arte francés.

Estamos estupefactos ante este retiro anunciado de una excelente profesional que es reconocida interacionalmente por su curiosidad, la pertinencia de su programa curatorial, y la calidad de sus exposiciones. Maria Inés Rodríguez ha relanzado la dinámica del CAPC, con retrospectivas dedicadas de Beatriz Gonzalez, Alejandro Jodorowsky, Judy Chicago y Franz Erhard Walther, ganador del León de Oro en la 57 Bienal de Venecia, 2017. Ha brindado un lugar preponderante a la colección, que es excepcional, y la ha hecho permanentemente visible al público. Desde que fue contratada en 2013, ha promocionado el programa de ‘Amigos del CAPC’ y ha tenido éxito desarrollando colaboraciones y patrocinios, un rasgo fundamental en el rol de los directores de museo ahora que la financiación pública se ha hecho mucho más escasa. El Consejo Nacional Electoral (CNE) anunció la noche de este domingo que los candidatos del Partido Socialista Unido (PSUV) ganaron en las alcaldías más importantes del país así como la Gobernación de Zulia en unas elecciones en las que participó el 47,32% del patrón electoral (9.139.564).

El CNE informó de los resultados de varias de las localidades más importantes del país, en las que los candidatos del PSUV vencieron en dos de las cinco alcaldías de la Gran Caracas, Maracaibo y Barquisimeto, mientras que San Cristóbal (oeste) quedó en manos del partido Copei.

El oficialismo ganó en unas elecciones en las que tres de los principales partidos de la oposición no participaron por su desconfianza con el organismo electoral. La noche de este domingo la vicepresidenta del CNE, Sandra Oblitas, fue la encargada de anunciar el primer boletín con los resultados de las elecciones municipales en las que se renovaron los liderazgos en 335 ayuntamientos.
