Carolina's Pendant

After her discovery of how Pandoric energy affected her eye color (and, in a way, eyesight), Carolina took a brief trip to Pandoria. There, she managed to find a small crystal that had been broken off of one of the much larger gems, perhaps by one of the creatures that called the vibrant dimension home. Now, she'll usually either be wearing the crystal or keeping it in her pocket in case there comes a need for better night vision. Or just to be dramatic.

Good Ol' OC Facts:

-Carolina usually avoids the Soul Riders. She doesn't feel like she belongs, especially after they rescued Anne. She feels like the (now not needed) spare.

-The treehouse she lives in overlooks Hartwood Shore.

-She's pretty good at things like architecture and engineering.

-The girl loves Lord of the Rings, and a lot of other fantasy and science-fiction novels/films.

-One of her favorite pastimes when she has nothing important to do that day is to just mount up and go for a ride around the Wildwoods. It helps.

-During an encounter with some Pandoric energy in a cave in the Wildwoods, something changed. Around Pandoric energy, her usually hazel eyes turn bright blue. When her eyes are blue, they glow in the dark. Pretty freaky for the unsuspecting visitor.

-She can't cook to save her life.

-After the incident with the cave, she started getting visions of the Wildwoods burning with purple flames. The future? Nightmares? Who knows?

-She sleeps in a little loft in her treehouse.

-She somewhat blames herself for Elizabeth's death. If she's this 'almighty, prophesized 5th Soul Rider', why couldn't she save her?

-Carolina has her own maps of the Wildwoods with what she considers the best trails, best views, etc.

-She plays violin. She first picked it up as a kid but got back into it once she got a bit annoyed with the whole freezing-music thing.

-Archery. Horseback archery, especially.

-Once she was able to get into the Fort Maria library, she tried figuring out how to stop all of the catastrophic dreams/visions she'd been getting.

-She found a book that detailed a similar situation and tested it out. It didn't work, and now she'll hear voices. And let's not forget the strange feelings she now gets around Primeval Trees and the passage deep in Fort Maria. (This is why you don't just try out random spells you see in a book.)

-She's part witch. Mother's side. She doesn't know this. All of her weird Pandoric encounters aren't helping with this.

-She has family back in the US but hasn't been back there since she moved to Jorvik. She knows that if she goes back, her cousins' deaths will finally finish sinking in.

-There are a lot of books in her treehouse. Like, a lot a lot.

10. How did they get to Jorvik?

Carolina first got to Jorvik when she was 18 after a few years of saving up and persuading her family to let her go and stay with her aunt who lives in Dundull. She hasn't gone home since.

16. Are they related to anyone in Jorvik?

Her relatives on Jorvik are her paternal aunt, Sarah, who lives in Dundull, and her distant cousin on her mother's side, a Vala named Medea!

21. What’s their favorite pastime? 

If she feels like it, she loves to just sit down and read. But most of the time, if she's feeling stressed or just wants to relax, she'll mount up and go for a ride around the Wildwoods. She pretty much has most of the Redwood Grove mapped out, and therefore knows some of the best spots.

41. How would you describe their style/aesthetic?

I would say a mix of practical and good-looking with more earthy/naturey colors. That hat of hers is always somehow part of an outfit.

I think Carolina has a bit of a rocky relationship with the Soul Riders.

She doesn't dislike them, but they're not best buddies either.

Carolina has a different relationship with all of the Soul Riders, which is to be expected. Pretty much every Soul Rider mission ends with her bolting off back to the Wildwoods where she can be alone. They don't know where she lives, and she'd like to keep it that way.

Alex

Carolina holds a certain level of respect for Alex, what with her having to raise her brothers and live life on her own with little help most of the time. However, she's rarely on board with the 'let's just throw it at the wall and see if it sticks' methods that Alex uses. She's relatively comfortable around Alex, if only because she's the one she's known the longest.

Linda

She likes talking about books. Carolina's treehouse is practically a library with how many she has on shelves and just... around. However, as much as there's the 'hey, we both like books and talking about books!' part, they aren't all that close. Like @windforestsso said, Linda sees most things in a grey area. Carolina does as well, but in almost more a pessimistic/realistic way. She appreciates Linda's honesty about the Keepers and the things they're hiding, but that doesn't exactly help Carolina's trust issues.

Lisa

Lisa and Carolina never really bonded all that much. If anything, Carolina has a closer bond with Starshine than Lisa. After Lisa was rescued, that's when Carolina's thoughts started to set in, wondering what she was good for in the Soul Riders beyond just saving others. After all, they already had masters in the 4 circles. The way Carolina sees it, what is she there for besides just 'save them! and them!'?

Anne

Oh boy. Anne and Carolina probably have the most awkward relationship out of all of the rest. It's not a problem with each other, it's just other issues that happen to pertain to them. The worst part? Caroline. The Soul Rider of the previous generation that tormented Anne while she was in Pandoria, mistaking Anne for her mother, Eva. I'm unsure whether Anne knew her name or not, but if she did? To have someone named Caroline who tormented you and then someone named Carolina who saved you? Ouch. Carolina doesn't have issues with Anne or anything, but, after what I believe to be over a year of hearing nothing about how they had to save the others, Carolina feels alone. Now that Anne had been rescued, she doesn't think the Soul Riders need her. As a result, Carolina and Anne have a pretty awkward relationship.

6. What languages do they speak?

Carolina speaks English, Ukranian, the Jorvigean language (if it differs from another language), some Russian, and a bit of Italian.

15. What is the name of their pet/pets?

She has a few pets, actually!

One rabbit (Radaghast), a (somewhat) adopted owl (Oak), a few cats (Phantom, Smokescreen, Maul, and Ahsoka), and a lizard (Jell-O).
