Unlike Shikamaru, even on days off, Ino was an early riser. She liked to wake up to the sun, and get her day underway. She was never one to laze around, but her husband was at times. It was too bad that she rarely allowed him a moment to do just that if she was around. As such was this morning. "Time to get up now, Shikamaru~" She whispered in his ear, hoping that'd coax him up. When it was clear that it wasn't going to do anything, she resorted to another tactic. Relentlessly covering his whole face in kisses until she finally got the desired reaction. That, and she knew he wouldn't exactly complain about such a wake-up call. At least not much.

Shikamrau’s instinct usually when he hears a voice while waking up, was to make sure it was or was not Naruto. Back when they were teenagers, it was his cue to go nap somewhere else, but nowadays it was usually important Hokage related business.

He was relieved though when he realised it was in fact Ino, who else would be kissing him all over? It was nice and all, but he didn’t feel like getting up yet, until he couldn’t hold back a grin from all the kissing.

“Alright, I’m up…” Shikamaru spoke with a defeated sigh, sitting up straight with a sleepy goofy smile toward his wife. “Well since you woke me up, it’s your responsibility to take the lead today.”

"What are you complaining about now, Shikamaru?" Ino asked, wondering what happened this time. "Don't tell me Naruto is making you stay in for work again." Sure, she knew Shikamaru's job kept him busy and in the office more often than not, but it was infuriating, even to her. Especially on the few days she had off where she would have loved to be able to spend some quality time with her husband.

"Something urgent just came up, I have to deal with this or it'll become more of a pain later," Shikamaru replied towards Ino. He knew he hated when work took him away from quality time with her, unfortunately some things can't be planned ahead for.

"We planned our days off so we can spend time together like this, I'm not going to let that go to waste," he spoke, determined to not change plans again. "I'll set up the groundwork for Naruto to do instead of doing it myself, he should understand I don't want you mad at me too."

"I won't be too long, I'll make it up to you when I get back." Shikamaru kissed Ino deeply on the lips, hoping that would stall for some time before he rushed out the door, heading to the Hokage's Office.

He was gone for at least an hour.

Choji had invited Shikamaru to eat with him at a restaurant, unaware that it was a setup while he was waiting for Choji outside.

“Hey Ino, you eating here with someone?” Shikamaru asked his teammate when he saw her stopping near him, it was always nice to see her outside clan meeting and missions. She was quite the catch too, since the restaurant only had tables for two, Ino probably had a date. Choji had dragged him here insisting that the food was to die for.

He had gone on a mission to check in an a missing Sai, only to find he had been brainwashed, along with the couple of ANBU that were with him. He didn’t want Ino and Choji to turn against him and the village too, so kept them in the dark about his mission, until they got it out of Kakashi and came anyway.

And he was glad, their disruptive entrance was exactly what he needed to turn the battle in his favour. “How about I treat you both to lunch next time? Unless you have another form of punishment?” Shikamaru suggested as a means to show his remorse, though his solution was an easy way out.
