WIP Wednesday

I decided to start doing these every once in a while. Probably (but hopefully) not always once a week, but it’s basically a preview for the next few scenes of my projects because... it’s been a long time and I don’t want anyone else thinking I discontinued any of my stuff.

Here’s one of my WIP’S I just finished today, which I will upload this Friday.

WIP: Way of the Devil Hunters

Kai ignores the searing pain still irritating his skin. He lets out an exasperated, scandalized groan as he spreads his arms. “Are you crazy? The Fire Devil, whatever it is, is still a Devil! Summoning it under a closed surrounding, we die! Weren’t you thinking?!”

The young man has the decency to look embarrassed. “I want to evaluate how useful you are to the team. We’re stable; I wonder how we’d function with you and your sister on the team.”

The brown-haired man scoffs, rolling his eyes. “Even you don’t look stable to me. I have no idea how you’d even get a position like a leader when the only thing you want to see is how powerful the Fire Devil is. Don’t you have a responsibility?”

A second after he utters that last word, his face is pressed against the window’s glass, seeing his reflection and Cole’s, who has a slightly tense face, and, down below, the authorities still mulling about, not knowing that the threat — a useless one, in fact — was already nullified. Heat pools inside of Kai’s stomach at the sheer thought of letting someone — much less a stranger he has ill opinions about — touch him like this. He tries to fight back, moving his hands, but Cole, while shorter, was bigger, immediately restraining his hands. Unhelpfully, Kai notes Cole’s golden eyes, glimmering so brightly in the sun like a mirror. He shouldn’t be complimenting him so well.

“Tell me, what’s your motivation to become a Devil Hunter?” Cole inquires, voice low, his breath tickling Kai’s ears. Before he could answer, to his displeasure, the older man answers for him. “Because your sister was taken here, to become a Devil Hunter herself, after it has been explicitly stated that she’s a Devil.”

“She’s not a Devil.” How many times has he told him?

“Because you don’t see her as one.”

He scoffs, smirking as he looks down at the policemen below. “Oh yeah? If my motivation to protect my sister from you guys trying to experiment on her like she’s a mole is shit, what about yours, huh? Oh wait, I think I know your motivation.”

He narrows his eyes at the red-eyed boy suspiciously.

That silence was enough for Kai to start his not-so-far-of-a-reach assumption about Cole. “Your family got shanked by Devils. That’s why you’re currently in the business. Searching for your family’s murderer.”

Cole’s face is unchanged, but there is a certain stone-faced stoicness currently replacing his irritated composure.

“Judging by that face. I guess I am right.”

He doesn’t respond. He does, much to Kai’s relief, let him go. Jeez, that guy can grip him like stone does to people suffocating.

I definitely didn’t write all this in one go after it was announced Chainsaw Man is getting aired in October 11. Nope, not at all!

Summary: Nya is threatened with either being executed as a Devil or playing along with Public Safety's rules, and Kai is forced to lose an eye to make a deal with a Devil.

👹 if you were to create something villain-themed, what would it be?

I mean... Morro is a villain and I have COUNTLESS of fics about him. My main one is The Astute Guide of Morro's Journey Through Redemption, and as the title says it's a Canon divergence fic about Morro. However, with a few twists and turns from a regular Morro Redemption fic because I want to do something... not different but not in a way I think I'm the most unique person here.

I HAVE A LOT. The main AU I think about is Chainsawgo and Green Kai AU.

🎎 what’s the largest number of characters that you’ve had in one work?

As of now, probably TAGOMJTR. But since Chainsawgo is still in the works, there will be a LOT more characters from that work to be introduced.

😖 what piece of yours has the angstiest themes?

Uh. Have you SEEN my fics? A lot, actually??? My first Ninjago fic was about Kai not feeling connected to his parents, the second fic is Nya still not getting her memories back, then my lavashipping fic about a ghost and a human being torn apart... but to be honest the most depressing thing I wrote was the fic where Cole dies after MOTO.
