The Holmesian Book Club
Tumblr media
Summary: After facing rejection, young writer, Jen Weston, hopes her new book club will provide a necessary distraction. These hopes are quickly dashed, however, when a close colleague falling to her death snowballs into a mishandled investigation, loss of evidence, and murky motives.
Though initially dismissed as unreliable witnesses, it’s now up to a socially anxious writer, a nursing student, a reformed mean girl, a sleepy security guard, and the rebellious son of a police captain to don the deerstalkers and solve the mystery themselves.
They may not be detectives…but they’re the only ones paying attention.

Characters:
1. Turns out, Jen Weston isn’t her own worst critic. After her book pitch is turned down, the struggling writer tries to focus on her new book club. Following the stories of her hero, Sherlock Holmes. She prays for something in her life to go smoothly for a change, but after a murder is committed in the bookstore she works in, she finds out she couldn’t have been more wrong…🕯️
2. A sleepy security guard and a screw-up, that’s how everyone sees James Shepherd. He makes one mistake and it could cost him what little he has in his life. Now his only choice is to follow along a club of young people as they try to solve a mystery…🔦
3. Intelligent, nurturing, and loyal to a fault, Lila Greene is a nursing student and Jen’s best friend since childhood. She’s followed Jen on crazy crusades since they were kids so it doesn’t surprise her too badly when a simple book club turns into an adventure—and a pursuit to be like Sherlock himself…🧪
4. Elle Gonzales is our “reformed mean girl.” She was a bit rude when she was a kid, now she’s…slightly less rude. She insists she’s just genuine and what’s bad about that? You need some truth when you’re pursuing a mystery. There’s nothing wrong with a little confidence, being true to yourself, and some blunt honesty. At the end of the day, you can take her or leave her…✨
5. Carpe diem, that’s Memphis Moses’s motto—if he knew Latin. After a rocky childhood, he decided he had to live life for himself and have fun like there’s no tomorrow…until it landed him in trouble. His punishment? Attend his cousin’s book club, which may not turn out as boring as it sounds…💥
